Hi fellas! I have studied/read Van Til on and off for many years but not for a while now. It is so refreshing to hear great thinking and brothers talking through Van Til. I am catching up on your video posts now but plan on reading along with you. Thank you so much! After a couple of years of studying Roman Catholicism due to my Father's conversion to his childhood Roman Catholic faith and his requests for discussion and reading, it has been a truely encouraging splash of Van Tillian water to my face (mind) and a comforting reassurance of my Protestant and Reformed convictions. I have really needed your encouraging and intelligent discussion and review at this time and I'm so encouraged that I'm not "alone" in my concern for and enjoyment of Reformed thinking like you are discussing together. I've checked out reformed forum.org now as well. Thank you guys so much for your work there too! I hope to comment when led to and will continue looking at your own writings and work. God bless your ministry! Kyle

Lane's articulation of the juxtaposition of contention postured against Van til's perspective(s) is demonstrative of the veracity of VT's thought... in that... objections from within a same tradition asserted against a correct"ive" position-(VT's) - assigns 'polarity' to those objections -making them "paradoxical" to one another (yet without negating [refuting] the corrective's premise) which "proves" (demonstrates) it to be definitive *of them* ... a type of impassibility- as it were.
    It's reminiscent of the Pharisees...
"By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?"

"Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things"
    -Christ
-A further reiteration (inverted contrast) of this is (ironically) observed in liberalism's incurring valid objections from within it's "field"- while being self-refuting.
You guys are providing a great service.
    Soli Deo Gloria

This is great stuff. I have been trying to understand CVT for a long time, but have not the foundation of philosophy to understand him. He scared me off early on. I'm trying again to understand him, and this discussion helps.
What resources do you recommend for a novice in CVT and philosophy?

41:00 I understand the criticism, but no. Van Til uses idealism as a position to contrast his own, especially their terminology. He then re-frames the reformed position, using their terminology, and infers from that a philosophically, reformed approach, a presuppositional transcendental method, with the self-existent, sovereign God at its centre, and the genesis (and sustainer) of all "facts," including human thought. Van Til thought self-consciously not of himself as an innovator, per se, but continuing in the reformed tradition. Great, pithy responses on Van Til's position by both at around 55:00. Thank you for the interesting discussion.

maybe you should've name the vid: " the defense of Van til and his so called "reformed" views "....maybe try addressing the arguments of Van Til's critics and bring verses from the Bible and defend him that way?

Camden your guests are too polite to tell you you're a terrible rambler. Try and ask shorter questions, and maybe use a stop watch to time what % of the episode you are consuming yourself? Or if you are going to lecture, write your points out beforehand, and keep them succinct?

Hi Mark. I'm thinking that after you've watched a few more episodes of Christ the Center you'll grow to appreciate Camden's "hosting" style as much as many of us do. I think he's as good as they come.
