I've been eyeing off Royal enfields for a while. My friend had a 500 single with decompression cable back in the late 70's....it was old then!

I just saw a Givi windscreen on another channel. It is definitely bigger, but made from much thinner material. It looks to me as if it would flex all over the place at higher speeds, or in windy conditions. I would wait for someone like Madstad to come out with one.

Thanks for your feedback, mate. Much appreciated. I'll check to see if there are any reviews avbailable on the Givi screen.

@@PostieGeezer Baxter Cycle sells a windshield made by WRS. Looks stout. Fuzzy Biker from Forgotten Motorcycles installed one on his Himi 450 for a trip to Alaska.

Have you fully recovered from your walk?. Did you watch Joe Ryan's ride in India and Vietnam on a free bike from RE. Tina and Jason rode their Himalayans around Australia, on a test they did 426km on a tank, with some still in the tank, when they decided not to push their luck, and filled up. The fuel gauge on the Himalayan is shocking, mine goes from 1/2 to empty in a few kms, but when I fill up, there is still plenty of fuel in the tank. I cut 25mm of my side stand which is for the most time ok, and 25mm of the center stand to make it easier to get up, still can't get it up without a block of wood under the back wheel. If everything goes well, I'll be starting my trip around Australia in April.

The fuel gauges on both my 411 and 450 are all but useless. In face, there's no reliable information provided on the 450. Not the ambient temperature, the speedometer (over reads by up to 8kph), the fuel gauge, the average fuel consumption on the tripometer and the indicated fuel range which can under read by as much as 100kms! It begs the question as to why they bothered with these electronics if they are wholly unreliable. Surely these issues would have shown up in their testing? However, I still love the bike.
As for the side stand, the 450's is way too short. Something personally admitted to by the lead designer of the bike during an interview I watched a few weeks ago ua-cam.com/video/idzqtaAJjlA/v-deo.html The 411 side stand on the other hand is too long. I assume you cut 25mm out of the 411 side stand. I haven't had a problem with the centre stands...except it is quite difficult getting the bike onto it when it's loaded up.
Fuel range on my trip was comfortably 425+
      All the best.

@@PostieGeezer I roll the back wheel of the Himalayan up on a 25x 50mm timber which makes it a lot easier to get it up on the center stand, a lot of people do that.

Totally agree with you regarding the screen. I have also purchased the taller screen, then the extender, and it's still not doing the job so I wasted my money. So I will also be getting another windscreen but the GIVI looks to be too flimsy for me. I don't want to throw good money after bad so will continue researching ad-nauseum! 😂

I got the after market extender and bolted a hockey puck to the bottom of it. Shaped it with a knife to prevent it contacting the swingarm and fouling the centre stand. Works brilliantly for about $10 but I agree 💯 with you about how we shouldn't have to remedy these problems. Still love my Himi though 😂
