    Myopathic Gait Demonstration
With muscular diseases, the proximal pelvic girdle muscles are usually the most weak. Because of this the patient will not be able to stabilize the pelvis as they lift their leg to step forward, so the pelvis will tilt toward the non-weight bearing leg which results in a waddle type of gait.

im confused bc this is what professional PTs are all telling me to do , what he is demonstrating saying I need to weight shift over to free up the other leg..... shift all our weight to the stance leg... head arm trunk.... and pelvis should move up down back forth, and transverse plane a little. . SO... what is the answer?? HELP

He is attempting to demonstrate what happens in Trendelenburg gait but this is wrong. The patient leans over to the affected side to minimize the muscular activity needed by the gluteus medius in order to stabilize the hip while walking. Not to the non affected side as suggested in this video. This man walks like a penguin. I have never seen any patient with any condition walk like this

I just saw a different video which explained why in Trendelenburg gait (the pelvic drop that this man described, due to the gluteus medius failing to stabilize the pelvis while walking), the patient leans over TO THE WEAK SIDE in order to minimize the muscular activity that is needed by the hip abductors in order to stabilize the pelvis while walking. It makes perfect sense. The patient does NOT lean over to the non affected side, as suggested in this video. Neither have I ever seen any patient walk like this man demonstrated. Only penguins walk this way and penguins don’t have weak gluteus medius
