    Best explanation I’ve seen so far! Definitely following this build. Great content!

      @marlonlove8254 Thanks! I try to fill in some details that I don't see in other videos. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for your video! I'm 73 and building my 427 for the last time, I hope. ;) My Son has convinced me to go with a roller kit, instead of what came on this 1969 model 427. Hope I can afford it, cause it looks 'spensive!! ;) Good explanation. Helps me understand. I've built engines, just nothing with this type of roller kit. :)

      I am surprised that there is not a suggested torque spec on the set screws. ??

      @MagaRickn There seems to be a lifter failure epidemic going on right now, especially with flat-tappet lifters so I would definitely go roller if you can. Even those are a gamble so make sure to test them all once you get them.

      @MagaRickn There was no torque spec provided by the manufacturer on those, but I think most people just snug them tight.

    I didn't see you lube the rocker trunions be or the rocker roller tips before installing them...

      @leonardfoster6252 I'll be pre-lubing the whole engine before the first firing. I'll make another video showing that.

    98-2000 gen 6 454 s use 3/8 pushrods and guide plates . The earlier gen 6 s used 5/16

    I'm building a hydraulic roller 454 with 781 heads and my push rods are the same length

    Would you use those rocker studs if you were to use a stud girdle ? Or go with a taller rocker stud ?

    • @vikingmech
      @vikingmech  3 місяці тому

      @71lemans I'm not sure on that. I've never used a stud girdle on one of these motors.

    All bbc's use 7/16 rocker studs from the factory.

      @joe-hp4nk Gen V and VI have 3/8 base threads. You can get a conversion stud kit like this (Jegs part# 809-12368941) or (Summit# CCA-4514-1) that has a 3/8 base thread and a 7/16 shaft for adjustable rockers. Or you can have the base threads drilled and tapped to 7/16 like I did for a full 7/16 stud.

    You can set all valves starting at TDC on number 1 and turn crank every 45° to set next valves in the firing order, 18436542 unless you have a 4&7 swap18736542...
