- In this video we talk about how to convert a Gen VI 454 Big Block Chevy to an adjustable roller rocker, and talk about pushrods, guideplates, rocker studs, roller rockers and how to properly adjust the rockers for perfect hydraulic lifter preload.
98-2000 gen 6 454 s use 3/8 pushrods and guide plates . The earlier gen 6 s used 5/16
Best explanation I’ve seen so far! Definitely following this build. Great content!
@marlonlove8254 Thanks! I try to fill in some details that I don't see in other videos. Thanks for watching!
I didn't see you lube the rocker trunions be or the rocker roller tips before installing them...
@leonardfoster6252 I'll be pre-lubing the whole engine before the first firing. I'll make another video showing that.
You can set all valves starting at TDC on number 1 and turn crank every 45° to set next valves in the firing order, 18436542 unless you have a 4&7 swap18736542...
.020" pre load on the lifter or as much as .050" for street...
All bbc's use 7/16 rocker studs from the factory.
@joe-hp4nk Gen V and VI have 3/8 base threads. You can get a conversion stud kit like this (Jegs part# 809-12368941) or (Summit# CCA-4514-1) that has a 3/8 base thread and a 7/16 shaft for adjustable rockers. Or you can have the base threads drilled and tapped to 7/16 like I did for a full 7/16 stud.
Sorry, I only worked with the gen IV bbc@@vikingmech
