- Video I shot in 1997 of rides in motion at Kings Island, (then called Paramount's Kings Island), located just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio. Starts out with footage shot from the viewing deck of the Eiffle Tower, then footage shot near the rides themselves. Features footage of:

I also added in some information and trivia about each ride shown during the video. I actually recorded the entire "Phantom Theater" ride but all of the video footage, except what I have posted on this video, is pitch black.

at kings island in 2017: the cript closed down many years ago, we have Banshee and mystic timbers, flight deck was named the bat
Amazon Falls (I will always call it that) is so rad. I remember when it first opened, how much fun it was. I always loved how you'd get wetter standing on the bridge than being in the boat.
You're telling me that a log ride was replaced by a ride that isn't even there anymore?

My buddy loved King Cobra. I think it was his favorite ride. I miss it. Great times.
5:57 - Love the shot of Skylab!! It was gone by the time I was old enough to ride it, but it still looked like fun!! :)

We somehow ended up there on a light crowd day and would hit the flume ride to get all wet and then jump on the stand up coaster. Don't recall how many times we did that.

If I could ride 2 defunct rides at King's Island, I would pick King Cobra and Son of Beast. I never got to ride either of these rides. :-(
+Paige Belvins No, that is a rumor. Vortex is a very popular ride and will not be removed anytime soon. Even though it is very old. If it is, Kings Island hasn't announced it. Nobody knows.
Coasterteam Now 5 years after your comment, Vortex is getting removed due to reaching the end of its service life.

I miss Phantom Theater and Scooby Doo dark rides, its a shame towards the end of each nothing worked :(

If I remember correctly, the company that built it went bankrupt. After that happened, the park had a harder and harder time finding replacement parts for the ride.

Nope, it has survived to 2019, and it is now gone
Is it me or when you look at top gun the old color of the track reminds me of its new color in 2014 except that it has topgun trains and not the orange ones

+drby0788 Dude, KI is still amazing. The last few new rides they've put in are some of the best in the history of the park. Banshee and Diamondback are incredible.
Yup and now we have Mystic Timber's with theming and WinterFest returning for 2017. Mystic Timber's is going to go over WWC and the train, its going to be a lot of fun!

The Vortex is probably gonna be gone soon considering how much it bangs your head against the 2 metal bars that are supposed to be the seat part that goes over your shoulders to keep you in. Also, it is slowly sinking into the ground because of how ubstable that ground is where it is built because of water damage.
I also see like not even 10 people in a car too. It's about to bite the dust I know it is

Its old and painful now I think the same. I like the ride its just too painful now. I heard that it was sinking because it was a previous landfill?? Also I think they'll build a new one there in the next few years too
As of 8/2018, Vortex is still there; the line is short because the ride has good turnover(usually running 3 trains) and staff doesn't try that hard to fill the trains 'cause a lot of people want the front row and I've heard that it's sinking for decades now. Vortex forever!
When Vortex was first built, it was the smoothest coaster I had ever ridden. It sits where the original "Bat" coaster was built.
King Cobra was moved to Kings Dominion and became known as Shockwave.
+Jack Sketch no there different rides it's just that they were the same model and manufacturer so when this ride closed its trains and parts went to kings dominion to be used on shockwave as replacements because parts became really hard to find and expensive
