I need advice to get this done, took it to a mechanic to do it but once he removed the starter he couldn’t unplug that plug that connects to this solenoid. It was past hours and dark so we had to shelf it. Of course, I paid him partially for his time but now I need to try to fix it myself since I will have time to. Is there a specific tool that you can recommend that will fit up there to squeeze down on the tab to remove it?
My car is throwing about 20 codes (most of them are repeats) and I’m repeatedly advised that this one is the biggest issue. My car randomly shutters/shakes while parked and sometimes it gets in a mode where it says engine power reduced and stabilitrak. This usually happens when it’s low on oil (had a bad leak from the pan and fixed that) but now it’s full of oil and still happens randomly. But when it does happen it’ll only be like this for some time and after I shut it off for a couple of hours I’m good to go for a while.

So, what you're going to have to do pull back the gray locking pin on the connector. Once you pull that back, you be ble to depress the tab and pull it off. Let me know if this helps.

@@DarwinMoore23 so he pulled the pin all the way back. It’s just when we pulled on the connector it didn’t budge. I know you’re supposed to press on it from top to bottom to be able to pull but neither of us could get a good hold of it and press hard enough to actually let it come off. You did it with your hands?

Can you see the tab? If not, use the wrench to turn it to where you can see it. The should make it easier to remove. I'm sure I used my hands/fingers.

i just had the same problem. Its dirt in the connector which wont let the black tab fully disengage. had to work the connector back and forth a couple times due to dirt and then i finally heard it click! once it clicked a few times, I had to use a flathead to disengage it the rest of the way. Dont know why they chose that troublesome connector for a part that is hard to see smh. I actually removed the intake instead of the starter to get it done

I think I bought it at the dealership or on Amazon. But it was a relatively cheap part. It may be pricier now.

I think I’m having the same issue, hopefully this fixes it and I don’t have a dented oil pan as well 🤦🏾‍♂️

It did solve the issue. But, I had a dented oil pan that prevented the oil pickup from getting the proper amount of oil to the engine.
