    jfyi, the connector behind water pump gets dry rotted from oil sludge behind time cover.. Then cracks and wicks oil.
    If you pull connector and find oil, the oil pump needs replaced, along with that electrical wire.
    To prevent it from happening ever again, Add Gasket maker to the wires where it goes through the time cover, and use your fingers to mold the maker into a ramp to prevent oil from sludging there ever again

    I’m getting P06DD AFTER replacing the oil pump. I am hearing the same kind of hydraulic whirring noise as well. I am also seeing low oil pressure around 16psi at idle and 21.5 at 3500rpm. L83 2017 Tahoe, freshly rebuilt engine dod delete, everything new, it has me stumped.

    • @ThecardoctorTV
      @ThecardoctorTV  Рік тому

      Is it possible your engine has internal damage?

    • @snivesz32
      @snivesz32 Рік тому

      @@ThecardoctorTV I don’t think so, oil is clean. I’ve crossed off many possibilities and am left with focusing on the oil gallery barbell. I used an Improved Racing Barbell, the one with a seal on each end. Their marketing said more oil flow, more filtration, but i think that’s actually a lie now. I think GM made the stock nylon barbell with no seal on one end purposefully. My theory is that the oil filter will pose up to a 15psi pressure gradient drop across the filter media (not more because of its internal oil bypass.) So, sealing off the two sides of the oil filter completely would guarantee a 15psi loss from whatever the pump is making. If i were making my same numbers plus 15 I would be at the proper oil pressure. I’ll report back.

  • @MDTAR15
    @MDTAR15 Рік тому +5

    I LOVE Chevys..been a Chevy guy since i was a kid. However...these new trucks are terrible. We have had the P06DD code hit every one of the 2018 Silverados in our fleet. $1400-$1500 to repair each one of them...some of our trucks have less than 60,000 miles on them.. I NEVER had issues like this with the older 5.3 and 6.0L engines in our 2004 Silverados. They ran to well over 225,000 miles without anything like this. We thought we were upgrading our fleet when we got the 2018's...what a mistake that was! These new DOD AFM engines are junk.

    • @ThecardoctorTV

      That’s a great question yet I have no idea. If you are going into the pump you’ll be able to see and possibly find broken guide parts and metal shavings in the pump screen.

    Hello sir, I have a 2014 silverado with 200 thousand miles on it. I get that p06dd code sometimes when I accelerate passing cars or just mash on her. But my oil pressure is working fine I've researched the pressures at idle and driving. Mine are right on track and I keep an eye on my oil levels. Oh and I've never heard any noises from my engine either. Any thoughts on this. The code worries me a little. Oh and the code is every once in a while not everyday of week. Thanks

    Hi car doctor, I have a question and I'd appreciate your help. I have a 2000 chevy 454 big block, 94000 miles. New fuel pump, new fuel tank. It runs great, cruises along nice on the highway. But, when I am going a out 40-50 miles per hour and I begin to hit an incline at a low rpm the truck gets a shake, kind of like it's not getting the fuel it needs. I take my foot off of the gas and push the throttle to about 50 percent and it down shifts and then runs fine up the hill, doesn't seem to have the power it should.
