This was a really well done documentary. If Bill Gaither ever did anything right in his career... it was to shine the light on two of gospel music's brightest stars, Howard and Vestal. When we were growing up in the '70's .. These were the Giants of music - period. You could have all the rock bands you could name... but the name that turned heads in our little community was The Happy Goodmans. They'll be talking about these two for generations.

I was blessed to see Miss Vestal sing live in Toronto Ontario Canada 🇨🇦. She brought the house down. I havw alot of The Happy Goodmans and Miss Vestal. I read her book also,a wonderful read. I love Vestal Goodman!! Never had the privilege of seeing her in person. But I love to hear her sing. She sang with all her heart and soul. I can’t wait till we get to heaven and I’ll get to meet her and hear her sing again. Thank you for this interview with her. ❤
I was in a small Minnesota truck stop lounge when this first video was on TV whenever. 90 or 91ish. I had no idea. My childhood heroes James Blackwood and JD Sumner from Singing Time in Dixie were still alive. I was wrecked for months. Still to a lesser extent.
I got to see hear and be blessed by them in my home church in ohio PRINCETON PIKE CHURCH OF GOD. we rocked all night oh my goodness what a moving of the lord . Steve brock was mypastor and what a God given voice from God that had given him. Gods glory all over the place . Ill always be so gratful and blessed and thank God for the blessing Rust goodman and iprayed for mydaughter and God healed her from a seriouse kidney problem .God was good to me then healed my daughter and still good to me today healed me of cancer that they said i would be gone in 2 weeks three years later im writing this to you GOD IS SO GOOD AND HIS MERCY AND GRACE AND MOST OF ALL HIS LOVE FOR US .HE GIVES US PEOPLE LIKE THE GOODMANS AND ALL THE REST. THANK YOU MY DEAR LORD. .

I watched the Happy Goodmans on TV in the late 70s. Absolutely loved hearing them.

I remember Dad Speer singing Never Grow Old on that show also. I must have caught it just before he died. Mid 60's. The tears and quiver.
