That's the most beautiful ending of a song ever written. Even better than the outtro of Deliverance, in my stupid but humble opinion.
Almost the whole album goes from song to song seamlessly.
Masterpiece
Yeah it probably flows the best out of any of the Opeth albums, but doesn’t fall into the blurring trap that orchid falls into.
@@soakedbearrd what do you mean by blurring trap?
Malkovith1 in reference to orchid the theme becomes the album, the concept or idea. The blurring happens imo when the songs don’t vary enough, so it’s hard to distinguish one song from another one. That’s the only Opeth album that I heard that falls into that “trap”
Lyrically as well! Notice how the final word of each song is the title of the song that succeeds it.

Outstanding song and even better album. Very underrated imo
React to "When". It's the next song on the record. (The last word on the lyrics is the name of the next song in this album)
Ali E. Milani I agree, he should react to every next song of the record except Madrigal which should go with The Amen Corner
"The Amen Corner" is such a fantastic song and people forget about it.
If it The Leper Affinity never existed, The Amen Corner would definitely be my favorite song.

Opeths first 3 albums are their best. I'm so tired of people suggesting BlackWater Park, Still Life, and Ghost Reveries stuff.
This whole album is amazing
There is great stuff on every album. I always want to say "bleh" to ghost reveries until I put it on again. The guitar solos of that album are bluesy as fuck. Morning Rise is probably my favorite though.
The first two albums are shit tier compared to the other albums until watershed
They did April Ethereal so god damn good at the Royal Albert Hall. It puts the original version to shame.

Next Opeth song should be When (the one after this song on the record) or Moonlapse Vertigo from Still Life.
Anything from Still Life is reaction worthy (except for maybe Benighted).

I think April Ethereal or Demon of the Fall carries that title, but When is great.

I've seen Opeth at a festival and at their own show and it's definitely true that they are best at their own dedicated show to allow them a chance to get more in and really shine.
Opeth always have great opening tracks and this one is no exception.
I suggest you Godhead's Lament for the next time.
Godhead's lament is one of my favorite songs to.
One of the best of the album and I would argue one of their hardest hitting songs on their catalog. Martin Lopez REALLY made in entrance or introduction. I love When, but this song is rarely mentioned and I think they it’s just as good as When and Demon of the fall.

This was the beginning of what I consider Opeth's 2nd era, and their prime. The best lineup, the most cohesive and interesting songwriting, the start of something incredible.
I fucking love how you say at almost every Opeth reaction that this is your favorite Opeth track.

Opeth is love, Opeth is life. What's great is that they wrote 8 albums like this one, this good.

Great track. 'When' follows this on the album which is just as good. I would check out 'Hessian Peel' next which I think is their absolute masterpiece. I'm not sure you've listened to anything off that album yet! (Watershed)

I second that! Absolutely do "Hessian Peel", it's THE summary of Opeth (and one of my favourites).
This song's beginning is so perfect. As another one said earlier, you should take a look at When. April Ethereal, When and Credence are my favorite My Arms, Your Hearse songs.

I mean the whole song is just... opratic. Akerfeldt in Katatonia's Brave always gets me going
Edit: I dont know what to call it, but a good example of the roll L-to-R would be in Jinjer's Pisces - the chorus word "blaze" nails it. Man it's just so fucking cool
