Sitting here have a smoke thinking about my divorce going through soon, being mr tough guy through it until I hear this song. Then all the emotions come flooding in. Thinking about the years spent with my beautiful wife, seeing her smile, holding her tight whenever she cried, going through the rough and great times. Laughing and joking around all the time. She’s such a wonderful beautiful woman. I wish to god she didn’t want out. Been off and on for 6 months. But finally she served me with the papers. I agreed because her happiness is what I want for her, even if it’s not with me. But god knows I love her so very much. I’d do anything to have her back safe in my arms. Holding her, smelling her wonderful scent, feeling her soft touch, hearing her laugh and seeing her smile again.. I miss her.. But in the end, it’s because of music like this, I’ll be okay no matter what happens. Musics always helped me through life, especially the rough and hard times. I love you Shaleen…my beautiful wife..
@@gknight2888 She wasn’t my wife, but a woman I loved deeply. I can relate to your words, I long for all that I’ve lost still 5 months later. Keep your head up and know that you are not alone in your feelings. May this song bring you some form of peace 💚
Who ever is touching you that's wrong but it's your fault . Probably something you were wearing. Or maybe a look you gave em, anyway sorry to hear about your being touching-ed, you should see someone about it. Just keep it to yourself, it's for the best.
when one discovers one of the best its hard to stop listening... thank you Mr. & Mrs. Rateliff for having such a talented son and letting him run with it.
To me, they concede to a relationship that, despite the dream of keeping, comes the realization that it is over. Although its still beautiful, it cannot be, and he knew it for long enough to measure its end. I believe this guy feels what he writes, and is on a level all his own, with good musicians along with him. I cannot help feeling drawn to this song, the self deprecating tone, as it haunts us. Well me, anyway. Awesome.
I am so grateful to be alive when a real artist comes out and moves my soul. The first time I heard his voice I cried....and still get goose bumps n teary when I hear something of his for the first time. Thank you for sharing your beautiful gift :)
About 5 years ago I ran sound for Nathaniel on the UW campus. He was just performing with a bassist at the time if I recall, yet it was the most gripping and moving performance I can remember; the kind of show that just has everyone raptured. Plus I recall that he was super kind and gracious even though we were just college students running the soundboard. I'm blown away by how his music has evolved.
Im in Awe!!!.... I haven't stopped tapping my feet and feel so happy listening to his music. For the last 3 weeks since I discovered them that's all I play....LOUDLY ............Thanks Nathaniel for your genius!
This album got me through an insanely tough time in my life and I’ll always be grateful for the sound of the song playing in my headphones while I slept on the floor...when I hit the ground, I’m gonna laugh out loud
Listen to this band EVERY day. Hey Mama brings me to tears. Lost my son to suicide in August 2017. The word's in that song say it all. Now that I can feel anger instead of waves of pain, Son you didn't try hard enough ..... Thank you
It's a hopeful song that moves through you, lingers. It's like taking one big breath before carrying on to make the most out of the least favorable moments in life.
Was going through the toughest time of my life when this song found its way into my soul..as well as my son's... It's both sad and beautiful. I feel both just as down and lost I was when first heard it, and proud to see where I have made it to...and man enough to admit both still bring a tear to my eye and lump in my throat.. stay the coarse your not done yet.
Just saw them at the St. Augustine Amphitheater, the best show that I`ve ever been to! They`re very humble and appreciative of their growing popularity, they`ve got a fan for life in me! This generation`s Johnny Cash!!
Proof that real music doesn’t have to be fast and loud. A man (person) with a burn in his (their) soul can create magic. This song to me is just that. Magic
What a beautiful song..I heard this by accident..and at the time I was sorting so much out in my mind..and this spoke back to me what I was feeling. I love it..so much. This video shows that he feels what he wrote. It's wonderful..speaks to me in ways I cannot explain. Awesome..just beautiful.
The song was featured in the movie The Place Beyond the Pines. The song made the movie that much more powerful. Nathaniel is so talented, hope to see him live one day.
for me it was a life altering event.... and I didn't even know what I was walking into. Looking at tour dates now and trying to find a time to see them again.
RIght there with you! Saw them at The Greek, and now I'm just scouring the tour dates looking for a small venue I can maybe go to. These guys are just on another level. Also, a shout out to Tennis. Amazing job opening
Alexis G They had Tennis, and Jamestown Revival play before them, right?? It was an amazing concert, where were you?? I was second section up, like mid center of the theatre
Wow ... after serving in the army for more than 20 years I am used to operating without being distracted by other things going on around me ...... This stopped me in my tracks ... Thankyou :)
I love the music. Unfortunately there are no concerts in Washington State this year... I would love to see them live; I haven't been to a live concert since NiN in mid 90's at the Tacoma Dome. Check out the Admiral Theater in Bremerton if you want to do a medium sized gig.

This sounds like an anthem for Icarus. “Falling faster than you can run” We all fall and a lot of times no one can get to us in time to save us. “I planned the distance from where you stood” He’s self sabotaging. “And when I hit the ground, I’m gonna laugh out loud. Stay for a while, and look at the clouds.” His fall was intentional or knew it was going to happen. It he redeems it with “tearing off his shirt to wrap around the wound” he is will to help and heal. We all fall. We don’t all help heal and get back up.

Thank you guys. I very much appreciate the good words and support. I’m hanging in there. Love you brothers.
It's unbelieveable that this guy isn't absolutely massive. His music has so much emotion running through out it.
I am 64 years old, and just discovered this on you tube. It touches my soul.

Why don't more people know about this man? I'm beside myself.

Nathaniel is an angel....
I'm on the run
Aimming too low
Breaking away
On the feet of you all
And catchin the stone
With a side of my head
Hold me back
Walking it home
I'm taking the tracks
So leave me alone
You can see me fall
Faster than
You can run
Take it away
If you're feeling it's wrong
Kicking it back
Watch it dissolve
Tug on the line
Chained to the wall
I heard you call
We're not gonna make it at
Running
Will do you no good
I'm gonna fall
I probably should
Well catch me
You never could
I planned out the distance
From where you stood
When I hit the ground
Gonna laugh out loud
Gonna lay there a while
And stare at the clouds
Baby it looks bad
Or maybe from the angle I'm at
Well I tear off my shirt
And wrap it around
Your wound
@@williamherrera4711 what you smokin?
oh my god speechless
Running will do you no good
I’m gonna fall and probably should
Catching me, you never could
I planned out the distance from where you stood
