Tbh, I was running errands after the race and remembered pole time was by about 1/3 sec and then thought 72 laps at 1/3 sec better means... something like the final 1-2 gap.
@@BobGeogeo You guys are both wrong. It didn't occur over 72 laps, and tire degradation differences leads to much more rapid fall-off then your average calculation.
What McLaren needs is BOTH drivers finishing ahead of Verstappen. They have the package to make that possible. Well done to Lando! He's the fastest man at the moment and he just needs to use that speed like he did in this race. All it takes is one DNF from Max and things get really scary for Red Bull now...
This is gonna be very hard for Lando to catch Max but it is not impossible. As long as Mclaren set clear number 1 status for him till the end and Oscar is just behind him who knows. And of course he needs to fix his terrible starts ASAP. Red Bull doesn't look so planted to ground anymore- I expect them to struggle further, especially in Singapore (where they were weak even last year).
@@rottieshepcalibre9156 Lando would need to tie the old record of 9 consecutive wins in a row. Riiight. You're talking about "Little Chucky 2", bailed out by the car today after pissing the pole away, again.
Same Lando. It's the car. He either has to tie the old 9 consecutive wins in a row, or have far more McLaren 1 & 2 with Max 3rd. These are long odds. It's like watching grand dad trying to blow up a hot air balloon with a straw. Despite RBR car struggles, it doesn't matter by how many seconds Lando is ahead, as long as it's not more then 8 points difference in their finishing. Max only has 1 driver to worry about, while Lando has 19, err maybe 20, himself.
This race proved that the Red Bull team has the speed to easily win the race, but has a new, major tire degradation problem. By the next race, the Red Bull team should resolve this major tire degradation problem & regain the lead. Ha-ha
As Lando is the main contender to fight with Max at the front. I was very happy with Ferrari performance today and a bit surprised at Perez outburst at Lewis in qualifying. Mercedes have to stop favouring Russell because he is not going to improve. Toto made it clear he wants Max and that confirms the future of the team with Kimi in the other seat. So i find it very difficult to understand why they are wasting valuable points to support Russell instead of giving both drivers the same level of support for the remaining 9 races and see how they perform.
9 races left, if Lando wins all 9 with fastest lap and Max is second every race (unlikely scenario, yes) then Lando would gain 8 points a race. 8 x 9 = 72. The gap being 70 right now, it is in fact, mathematically possible (and I didn’t even factor in sprints)
@@Trivaldo99 You're extreme in both of your calculations, that Lando will be perfect and no mishaps will befall him. It will be the spice if Lando shall fall short by 8 points. LOL.
Lando's race margin = 22.9 sec. 72 laps times Lando's pole gap to Max = 25.6 sec.

Another really insightfully good after race analysis and commentary from Jon and Ronald. You guys make a good team :)
Those 7 point McLaren didn’t give to Norris looking more and more important now
Yeah and how many points has Lando dropped on his own merit this year?
7 points. Worth a bullet each. John Wick settings.
Congratulations to Lando & the McLaren team for a brilliant race execution.😊
It's more like Great Job McLaren Team despite Lando's efforts to snatch the "Little Chucky 2" tiara from Charles.

Great drives from Max and Charles to get 2nd and 3rd
That was a mega drive from lando really in the zone today not seen max destroyed like that for a while.
C'mon guys, it's one race and I'm so glad to see Lando grow a pair. However, Max's lead is insurmountable
No it’s definitely mountable
Both statements you’ve made are daft…congratulations

Oscars pit stop was too late, gave up track position…shame for him

But it's Norris just his 2 win when Verstappen has already 7 wins.

Perez was blocked…should he be happy?
Please. There is only one Kimi
Would Verstappenan be considered a goat if he loses the drivers championship with the lead he has?
The car flatters Lando's growing reputation of being little Chucky flailing at the pole.
👀🔥
Not even close.. title fight ain't Alive. There is not even a mathematical possibility
