Great work. Sometimes the colder weather is a blessing. It help you ponder and take a little more care on the prep before the time finally comes to paint.
The brits made some beautiful motors, your a fast learner and shes polishing up 👍just a word of advice, NO diesel heater, youll get contaminants, electric heat source only.I know im sounding fussy but i was schooled by fastidious tradesman.
For what it's worth, one small tip I've read about but never tried is to use some thin gauge wire and insert it under the rubber seal around the front and rear windows. It lifts the rubber enough so that paint can get underneath making any masking tape line disappear. Also, removing the rear quarter windows is very easy, maybe 5 minutes (unless the 4 screws are rusted in place). Kinda like the classic look of the ding protector strips but like someone else commented, you can always add them back with double sided tape. MG's also look good with the bumper overriders removed.
Glad you went for the no chrome strip option, that’s exactly what I intend to do on mine, it’s a much cleaner look. These early cars have enough chrome on them anyway and if you ever do sell it on, it’s a relatively easy task for the new owner to fit the strips if they decide to do so.
Hi H you're doing good work there on what is a massive job. Can't wait till you get spraying! I'm enjoying your videos , and sensible to delay topcoat until weather is warmer and drier. Cheers Nige
Hi ho. Your doing a grand job, just one little tip, try to keep your bare hands off the newly cleaned bare metal surfaces, moisture is not a bare metals best pall. Hope this helps.👍💪🤛
Looking good so far ; try not to beat yaself up about the viewer's experience the people who watch your channel fully understand the time it takes to prepare a car for paint . I think most of us would prefer to see two prep video's and know your fully happy with what you have achieved. Patience is a vertue.....
Hi nice job I did my own a few years ago top to bottom resto ……. Can I just make a suggestion…. Your at the point we’re you should stop using filler and go buy a tub (small) of what is called stopper….. you use this to get shut of any imperfections once you have painted your etch primer look for imperfections and fill with stopper … well not fill as stopper is micro thin removed with wet and dry ……. I have painted all my cars MGBGT- Armstrong Siddeley- rover P2 - Jaguar lister Lemans
Hello there what i have found with propane heaters they put a lot of moisture in the air and makes metal sweat not the best for spraying. Infrared heaters are good for heating up panels not the air.
Hi, loving the channel and your MGB is looking brilliant! Can you tell me what was the product you put on the bare metal to prevent corrosion? Many thanks.
Arrrgh .... My MGB came without the side chrome strips but after sanding, where the holes were became visible. My problem was that without the chrome strips the inaccuracies in the straightness of the sides was emphasized. It looked as if the door and the front guards were bowed out. Many hours spent trying to get it to look straight but I had had enough so I sprayed it up to the first final coat. I could then see that my efforts to remove those bowed out sections was poor as they were still there but not as obvious. A friend had some odd pieces of the chrome strips which we applied with double sided tape. Having the strips on took the eye away from seeing those panels bowing. I purchased a set and now I don't notice the slightly bowed out sections.
Well done Henry but have to agree with the advice about the diesel heater. Nooo, or all your hard work will be covered in fish eyes. A painters nightmare. Electric only.
Coming along, diesel heaters i use a 8kw camper one which draws air from the outside and exhaust to the outside through a heat exchanger no issues at all, need a 12 volt supply, just need to turn off before painting as they move the air, good luck with it all
Not watched the whole video yet and not sure if you read comments on previous video so will repeat. You'd be far better off spraying the are metal and scuffed painted surfaces with epoxy primer and then applying body filler on top. The epoxy seals the metal and prevents moisture/air causing corrosion. Filler is porous. Spray highbuild primer on top of the seal coat and sand that all down to achieve the surface you need for the colour coats. DO NOT put etch primer on the work you've already done, just epoxy prime now.

Your not wrong 👍🏻 I just want to get it protected then I can carry on with the mechanicals 👍🏻

@@David-wy9jl yes I I think I will remove the bump overriders! And yes I was planning on doing that with the windows put a para cord 👍🏻

Exactly, we will see how it looks in the end!
You're "closing the gap" now H, still a way to go but the BGT is nice and solid now, Cheers.
Thanks gaz!

Thanks Nige!
Car looks amazingly straight, so well done there. Bare metal however should be protected as soon as possible and preferably not be touched by hands..
I will convert it before I paint it in epoxy 👍🏻
I personally like the cleaner look with the chrome work deleted, more modern and sporty in my opinion. 😎
Thanks me too!
Hope you got to meet Tim on your grand day out Henry! Looking forward to next week’s episode! 👍
I did 👍🏻 good, I enjoyed filming it!
Amazing guy looking gd friend
@@shaunmccauley5129 thank you!!
Can’t wait to see what colour you will paint it 😊
Thanks! 🤩
Liking the smooth look!

Looking forward to seeing some paint going on, keep up the good work, (that looks like a frontline car at the end?)

So if two of you are going to go out in Jacob’s on Saturday, one of you could hold the camera?🤔😉

It’s the por15 metal prep 👍🏻
Did you consider deleting the bead on top of the rear quarters and between the A pillar and the corner of the bonnet?
I did indeed. And I semi wish I had done now. But there’s a fine line between keeping it original looking and then totally custom!
Are the heaters any good ?? Link ???
Link in the description! Yes I really happy with them!

100% correct but I got that information after I had started the filling process! Next time!
When you say a little skim of filler you mean a big blob, less means less work .
