Statement from The 1916 Relatives Centenary Initiative Group: "The last extant 1916 battleground remains at risk despite the intervention by the state at last to secure 14 to 17 Moore Street from the developer who had allowed them to fall into disgraceful decay and dereliction for over a decade. No amount of spin by the Government or long time lobbyists for Chartered Land planning application should cloud what is planned from the surrounding area-it's total obliteration. The adoption by the state of the golden circle developer plan to destroy what the National Museum of Ireland hold to be "The most important historic site in modern Irish history" must not happen. The 1916 Relatives Association supported by The Concerned Relatives To The Signatories To The 1916 Proclamation will continue to oppose the proposed destruction of this historic area."
