My mom was the youngest of8 and never learned to cook well, parents died when she was young.cooking class in school didnt teach me much either as I had to learn to cook for dad when mom went to work.learned mostly on my own.but you tell stuff ,like how butter and marinade work, that life didnt teach me.for that I am grateful.i am 68 and hubby loves my cooking. But good to know more.i have been cooking since 8th grade.getting a little tired of it,wish someone would cook for me once in awhile.nice that you cook for your wife.i thank you.
Great video Blackie. You really brought back memories of my cousin cooking moose meat steaks my uncle gave us using a Coleman stove and cast iron pan when were done exploring for the day. Thank you.
Blackie did I like it. Idk never got mine lol. But I sure am hungry. Lol. Love the video’s keep up great work. We appreciate alll u do time and effort also money to make these video’s for us. From ur ole hillbilly buddy stay safe.
Great Vid! Would love to see a "long term" (more than 1-2 nights) food storage/transportation. How do you carry your milk, eggs, etc... Saw what you were using for salt and pepper containers...great idea! I found some like those at Dollar Tree and that's what i had planned to use them for as well. Speaking of seasoning...have you tried Southern Flavor? It's a great seasoning that can go on anything. It's made in Selma, and most grocery stores in the area (seen it Montgomery too) have it. It's really good!
If you use the ones with cork from the dollar tree you can get four into the altoids tin...Blackie probably uses powered milk and eggs...just a thought anyway...
Hi Blackie, Living in East Tennessee, we are now required to hang our food in the Cherokee National Forest because it is bear country. I also would not cook where I sleep. A lot of woodscraft videos I watch show cook fires 3' in front of a tarp. Could you show some suggestions on camp set-up in bear country? Thanks, safe travels.
Yeah that was a great video, don't know what the mayo in the taters do but idahoan taters are the absolute best instant taters EVER!!! Liked the guest appearance of your sk,I use mine EVERY chance I get. Have yet to go camping with it,day after Thanksgiving I will be.
Have you ever tried Idahoan freeze dried hash browns? They come in a gallon sized waxed paper carton, and with a little freeze dried onion flakes they are excellent. Mix them 1:1 with water just off the boil, and they are ready to fry in 30 minutes. I reserve one of my trekkers pantry tins for freeze dried hash browns, they are awesome.
i have done full thanksgiving meals in the field over a fire with cooking irons before ..a member of my group would do sushi.. i was with a great group all of them good cooks
My greatest regret while watching this video is that I don't have "smellernet.". Just the sight makes my mouth water. What kind of marinade do you use? Thanks.
I like the way you cooked the steak. But I never won't to eat mashed potatoes you cook. Mayonnaise I can't handle on or in nothing. Its not for me, but enjoy cooking on a fire or outside.
I showed this to my wife. She watched until you added the mayonnaise. Shuttered, grimaced, handed the phone back to me with a “Oh hell no!”. Everyone’s a cooking critic. 🤷🏻♂️
lol i usually cook on a open fire not a camp stove but you are correct.. a lot of the backpackers who have to count every ounce of fuel have gotten on to me for that before
THIS is a simple quick way to make a steak supper.. hope you enjoy this ..safe journeys to you

Use that method myself. Tonight I'm having pasta and now wishing it were steak. Good job.
Hope you enjoy
For certain. Pan fried steak anytime. Oh and I'm not giddy, just excited. Also for all you knuckleheads who haven't ordered a haversack, get on it.
Hi Blackie,

i will add that to the video list thanks for the comment

Right on
I know you went and foraged a nice healthy leafy greens salad for you and the mussus to go with that, Blackie? 😉😂😋

i have some of those and plan on cooking with them soon
Nice cooking spork!
Did you make that? Never seen one before.
Yes I did many yrs ago in my rendesvous days i have cooked many meals with it
i happen to like thicker mashed taters. so when i make up a bag of these instant type, i use 3/4 of the listed water amount.
Watch out, Julia Child!
How fancy can you cook in the field
i have done full thanksgiving meals in the field over a fire with cooking irons before ..a member of my group would do sushi.. i was with a great group all of them good cooks
Looks great hun but what marinade do you use Blackie?? I just use Dale's or Moores.
it was a off the self one but i have used dales many times
My greatest regret while watching this video is that I don't have "smellernet.". Just the sight makes my mouth water. What kind of marinade do you use? Thanks.
it smelled amazing
That looks great!! Do you deliver?
I wish!
Love me a steak.
You speak of a marinade. What do you use?
dales is a first choice but i also like the pre packaged ones
Hey now when’s dinner. Lol
Where did you get that skillet
trader at a event
You should have tossed some flour in the drippings and made some gravy
Good idea!
Sure looks good its gonna be pinto beans for me had to pass on the steak this week prices are criminal
no joke.
I like the way you cooked the steak. But I never won't to eat mashed potatoes you cook. Mayonnaise I can't handle on or in nothing. Its not for me, but enjoy cooking on a fire or outside.
I understand its not for everybody
I showed this to my wife. She watched until you added the mayonnaise. Shuttered, grimaced, handed the phone back to me with a “Oh hell no!”. Everyone’s a cooking critic. 🤷🏻♂️
lol
man that was tinder you could cut that with a butter knife
it was very tinder
Your fry pan could of been heating up the entire time you were stirring the potatoes.
All good but man you’re wasting a lot of fuel while you are stirring the potato’s ! Very inefficient !
lol i usually cook on a open fire not a camp stove but you are correct.. a lot of the backpackers who have to count every ounce of fuel have gotten on to me for that before
Honestly couldn't ever imagine disrespecting a steak by putting processed powdered potatoes with it 🤦🏻♂️,🙄😬
sorry
@@BLACKIETHOMAS No problem Blackie 🙏🏼 We can actually buy those exact Idaho potato packets in the UK now maybe I'll give them a go. 😉😊
