THE TURAGA'S TRADITIONAL REGALIA

This video was commissioned by the Australian Museum in Sydney in 2023 for its Wansolmoana Gallery - a revamped Pasifika Gallery that reflects Australian history with the Pacific Islands. Indigenous Pasifika people contributed to the exhibitions in the revamped Wansolmoana Gallery. The team WANSOLMOANA is a combination of Melanesian and Polynesian words to reflect the idea of ONE OCEAN, people of one ocean (wan + sol + moana). The regalia depicted in this video is a replica and is exhibited in the Fiji corner of the Wansolmoana Gallery along with this video broken down into smaller videos that visitors into the gallery can press and watch to gain a better understanding behind the traditional governance balance between a chief and his/her people.
