Here is something most probably don't know, Caterpillar dealers can order tools and guess who makes them? it would appear the same company that makes Snap on tools
I was told Williams makes sockets for snap-on. Old snappy just gives them a spec and quality they are after and then sells them for a whole lot more! I can be wrong though.
Snap-on does make some of cat tools for them but the cat tools cost more than the Snap-on does and there's some other companies that make tools and Rebrand them cat and the only way to get a cat branded tool warrantied is through caterpillar and good luck with that
The tool box will not put food on your table. Put your money into what goes into the box even if it is cardboard. If you decide usually 5 to 7 years that you want to keep turning wrenches, Buy what ever you want. The jobber will be happy to put you in debt..
Funny how we all want snap on but don’t want to pay for it. The bottom line is everyone wants snap on tools. Lol even if the Cat one is the same it don’t say snap on . I have made a good living with any of them. Old craftsman have been my go to my whole career of 22 years the new craftsman I wouldn’t even use to throw at you.
I’ve heard the 3/8” drive 10-19mm set is less than $100. I haven’t bought a set myself yet, but plan to in a couple days. I’m gonna hit the local dealer for prices this week.
You do know the purpose of a 12 point right? There is no intended use lol. They are made so they have a wider angle of motion while putting it onto the bolt head. Its alot harder to get a 6pt in a tight spot then a 12 point lol.
Snap on is snap off for me I broke 7 sockets in one day and yes they was impact sockets I just buy from harbor freight now cuz life time replacement I broke one socket in a set they replaced the whole set so I had two for the price of one now I have to get another tool replaced cuz I broke it Monday trying to remove a ball joint on a kia nice to know I need a torch next time I try to remove the same nut I just took the other bolts out to do the job had to change the spindle cuz hub bearing was sized in fixed a problem I had fir almost two years spent way more changing other parts that was supposed to be bad but wasn't so I don't like the transmission shop that lied about what was wrong
Snap on make a lot of the cat stuff, my buddy got his 1in impacts rebuilt and warrantied by the snap on guy
Harley Davidson did this with a set of open end wrenches.
They also used Williams for those wrenches there was two versions.
Snap-on also makes William sockets, we do make them with the same material, just a different stamp.
I remember back in the early 90s when Williams sold out to snap on.
I was told Williams makes sockets for snap-on. Old snappy just gives them a spec and quality they are after and then sells them for a whole lot more! I can be wrong though.
I work at the Milwaukee Snapon plant, we make our sockets and Williams from a coil of steel to a chrome or black oxide socket.
Williams is owned by Snap-On
@Jeepin Sconsin you guys do tours? I wanted to visit the Kenosha WI, but my dealer said they don't make tools there anymore :(.
Snap on/Williams/Bahco makes tools for Harley Davidson, Caterpillar and Case IH. The CNH stuff is rebranded Bluepoint
Snap on also has New Holland branded stuff. Boxes wrenches sockets etc.
Also Case IH and Case Construction branded
When I got a set of snap on torx bits one of them was a cat
I work at cat we compared them there the same and the cat tool boxes are snap on boxes with cat logo
“virtually” “exactly”
I have some Cummins sockets I got at a garage sale
I have some cummins tools too. The engines are great, the tools, at least in my experience are Hobo Freight quality.

It probably is snap on but it’s probably the rejected snap on tools that didn’t meet their qc so cat gets and sells them cheaper
Nope it's snap on. They just have snap on make them for them. You can get about anything snap on in cat.
True. They rebrand. There's a couple companies that have their logo on SnapOn tools.
Do my be so dumb, how are they gonna do that 😂😂😂
@@brandonsizemore3619 rolls Royce, John Deere, Cat, a few porshe tools, military variants, And CASE IH . As far as I know, there are certainly more
I have the same ICON tool box! Same color
So.. you can't read the number with that big glass ?
No they’re not the same at all. One is a 17 mm and one is a 18 mm. 😅
Cat numbers look like this 6V-3638
Snap on like this OEX38
Ya they never could make another socket that looks like snap on

Fdx sockets?
6 point SnapOn.. 12 Point whatever .. those 2 sockets are not the same…
Exactly the same except the teeth are entirely different…

Any caterpillar dealer

Ooooor you buy them at a flee market gor 3 set's of snap on for 70 dollars almost kissed the person when they told me that
Williams industrial and BAHCO are the same as snappy tooo!😮
What about warranty?
Have to take it back to the cat dealer
Can't get SnapOn warrented, unless you owe them a lot. Harbor Freight has better warranty and no hassle.
Yes CAT sell snap on tools
at least they used to be
Icon sockets look the same....
Yeah, but once five point and the other one 12 point
That's the fucking smartest thing I've heard all day
It's not a helluva lot of difference in price tho lol
I’ve heard the 3/8” drive 10-19mm set is less than $100. I haven’t bought a set myself yet, but plan to in a couple days. I’m gonna hit the local dealer for prices this week.
$52 vs $250 for a set of sockets is.
Dont ever say a 12 point socket and a 6 point are the same. One is right for the job and the other creates more work.
Not always
Unless you need to install/remove a 12 point fastener meat head
You do know the purpose of a 12 point right? There is no intended use lol. They are made so they have a wider angle of motion while putting it onto the bolt head. Its alot harder to get a 6pt in a tight spot then a 12 point lol.
