Theres no such thing as average, everyone above 5 8 is tall and everyone below 5 8 is short (5 8 people arent real) Edit: its been 2 weeks and im surprised how many people fell for the bait lol. For clarification, i am shorter than 5 8, and also a girl 💀
average is being called tall and short all the time. nobody will believe youre average... until you reach the kneecaps AND the shelves. then that's when people get scared
As a short person who is constantly perceived as a child, I related to this video SO MUCH. It doesn't help that I have "childish" interests either. T^T
As a 4’11 Filipino girl, i can totally relate to your struggles as a short person. Like, the feeling of people towering over you and is seen as a baby is very funny yet embarrassing at the same time (especially when you’re the older person in the room yet still the shortest among them. Even my little sister is much taller than me, it’s kind of lowkey embarrassing for me as the big sister. 😂) I’ve experienced the amount of anxiety whenever I even go to a certain place that involves people in general, it’s not a serious thing being a short person in the Philippines but when you mentioned that you grew up in the US and has a half-Filipino and American family, i can tell that there’s not much short people there that has the same height mark as you.(I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong with this one.) but nonetheless, I think being short is a blessing and a curse at the same time, seeing that some people still appreciates us short people while we kept struggling the regular normal stuff everyday, and is just another add-on to our cute nature. Thank you for making a video about this topic, it really helps me appreciate myself even more.🩷 (Also, I also noticed that you’re a strawberry shortcake lover just like me.🍓😃)
I'm a 4'10 African American and I feel your pain 🩷 My driver's educator thought I was a child or 15 years old. When I told them I am 18, they were shocked.
@@ChupacabraRex Yup. In Russian (not really a saying. just a phrase) that would be "Расти вширь", which translates to "to grow in width" (God damn Slavic languages, where even native speakers have to look up, whether or not to write it "вширь" or "в ширь")
I’m the same height as you and I can relate to this a lot 😭 a bunch of my friends tower over me even if they’re only seen as average or short, they still have me to feel better lmao. One thing that sucks is that sometimes people make it seem like I’m a lot shorter than I actually am, or even that I’m the shortest person they’ve ever seen. Though I’ve gotten used to it it still gets to me every now and then. It’s even kind of embarrassing too because I’m pretty much the oldest out of my friends. I’m glad you’re trying to find solace in being short, I’m also trying to myself😭
Same but I also see it as the saddest thing ever, because personally despite being just 5-10 cm taller than them I've never been infantilised to that degree where people talk to me with a like pitched up voice and stuff
i relate to the first part, i hit puberty kind of early, during 10-12 i was taller and looked older than most of my friends\classmates, now the tables turned and most guys my age are taller than me 😭
Sameee, ive always been the tallest in my class till 5th grade.. i stopped growing and all my classmates grew WAY taller than me. I even get teased on by my friends a lot😭
Same. and I still do. someone even went as far to say, "Are you lost looking for your class little boy?" (My school goes from Kindergarten-8th grade) and yes, while i do look like a fourth grader or maybe an even younger grade, people meme on me a by also saying "You look like a 4th grader" "You can easily blend in with these younger kids" "my younger sister is taller than you" etc. and it's really hurtful to me. being short is both a blessing and a curse. I can't reach anything on the top shelves at stores without the help of an employee
I feel your pain. In high school, I was the shortest kid in my grade! Everyone treated me like a child and I was very hurt, but I was actually just a late bloomer. I do have tall genes, but they just kicked in a little later.
Man the infantilization bit hit quite deep. I'm not short but I have autism and people seem to have a samn "gaydar" for it lmao. A lot of people talk to me with more tenderness and while I can appreciate it sometimes, it really makes me feel like a child being tended to. It's hard to explain but I can feel it.
Most of it just comes from body language and the confidence in which you speak, imo. It definitely makes people take you less seriously and treat you with more of a filter when you're on the low end of those qualities. Nothing people can't change, though.
Damn, I might do this sometimes. In my mind, I see a lot of people with autism talk about tone indicators and getting confused with sarcasm on the internet, so I try to be more intentional with my words since I naturally have a dry sense of humor especially when I’m tired. I’m now realizing I may be coming off as infantilizing but at the same time i don’t want to confuse people with my words lol.
@@jackalplays5178as another autistic person, that's not usually the problem!! What makes ME feel like I'm being talked down to isn't explaining a joke or being clear, it's that you can often hear people's voices go up in pitch and soften like they're talking to a toddler or small dog. Like they're asking about my day but It sounds like they're about to offer me a dog treat or ask if I need to call my mommy to be picked up >:( Sometimes someone will talk to me normally, find out I have autism, and then CHANGE how they talk- again, not in clarifying things for me, but in talking around me in the third person like the video talks about, and again in talking to me in the same voice they use for small children and animals. Being accommodating is great! It's important to honor disability accommodations and help make sure we can get a foothold so to speak. It's about respect and seeing someone as an equal.
4' something 30 year old man here, and I'm sick of every interaction I have with taller people being so degrading. I remember one time, a good five years after graduation, I was with an older neighbor and friend of the family, and I asked him for help with finding a job and dealing with interviews and such, because god knows my high school and parents couldn't be bothered. The guy had a good ten years over me, to be fair, but he just ignored my questions and launched into a "When I was your age" lecture like I was a bratty middleschooler and started going on about responsibility and doing chores. It's been 6 years since then, and I still can't have a normal conversation with anyone. And then people have the nerve to question why I keep to myself! [EDIT] Finally managed to scrounge up a functioning tape measure. Turns out I'm closer to 5' something since the last time I checked. Doesn't change anything. Still short and angry.
I am 6'4 and at 23, I also get these "when I was your age" lectures from people I have no relation with. At times from people who aren't even 5 years older than me. Like I once got some lecture from a 23 year old when I was 19 or 20, she talked to me as if I was a special needs kid, despite us working the same job It's something people do to display some kind of superiority, to rub into your face that they're more mature and wiser and all that shit. Comes from insecurity ultimately I think
@@juannaym8488 Some of these people I can understand though. Most of the time I don't really think it's out of insecurity, rather just genuine advice coming from someone who's pretty bad at explaining things and/or assuming too much. People change a ton even over 3-4 years, especially when they're younger. I know that it's probably annoying as you say it happens a lot, but keep in mind that not everyone really means ill intent even if their advice seems stupid.
@@neztech. You don't give genuine advice in a condescending tone. I can accept advice and see it as well meaning. But when someone gives you "advice" and talks down to you when they give it, there is no good intention
this really opened my eyes to how ive been treating my shorter friends, and taught me how my jokes may be making them feel. thank you, ill try to do better with treating my short kings and queens with respect the same way i do with anyone else.
:D Glad ur the type of person to listen to other ppls thoughts and feelings. Sometimes jokes are ok but I guess there are ppl that over do it or joke on new ppl they don't know. Anyway just thought it was cool what ya said
It's crazy how 5 inches can change someone's perspective. I'm 5'2" and I'm literally the perfect hight. I can reach everything, and I never bonk my head. My mom is an inch taller than me and she hits her head fairly often. My hair just barely grazes the top cupboard door when I open it. Whenever I walk through stores it's like everything is built for me. Tables are at the perfect leaning hight, chairs are perfectly aligned to my knees. But international travel makes me feel like I'm a 6 year old 😂 The average height in America is 5'4" but the moment I step foot on international ground, the average hight is 5'7". Everything is too high, the tables go up to my shoulders, and I have to scale some of the chairs.
I was tall as a kid, and I looked like a teenager so I wasn’t really treated like a child. It made me miss being treated like a child and being allowed to act like a child without being called weird or childish. ALSO I LOVE YOUR ART STYLE AND POSITIVITY, YOU GO GIRL ✨❤️
@@KenanLaudat-tp3bp bro tf you mean 3'5 or 4 feet like bruh what school is that, smurf school? Like how is it possible to just have these small ass people like i thought it was rarer than that
I'm a very very skinny 5'0" person who struggles to gain weight for some reason, so this is an incredibly interesting video to me. I relate in when we're treated as younger though. I feel like when you're so small on both ends, you end up being both infantilized and sort of... fetishized, as well. One of my worst experiences is most definitely when I've been incredibly sick due to being underweight and people (who aren't doctors) tell me that my body weight is the "most ideal", or when people have asked how old I am, or asked if I was a teenager, before I tell them I'm an adult, and then they change their tune and begin to try hitting on me. A scary ick.
BRO, I am also a mega skinny person. 130 lbs but 6'7. I really do also hate it when people say that we are the "ideal weight" or that they want to be as skinny as us. It really needs to be changed to lean weight, cus being super skinny is not very fun.
The some reason is, that it's actually easy for short people to lose weight. The actual caloric NEEDS are the important thing, and if you take the adult position of securing your own meals it's way easier to just, not eat, because you're not going to be hungry. And that's why "the patriarchy" has for centuries told women to get more meat on their bones, their LIFE very often depended on it. Many wouldn't survive to adulthood because they wouldn't learn to apply themselves even to do some digestion. It's the PRIMARY purpose of being active, not gaining mass or anything but simply that your gut will function. The problem short people come up against that they're really only hungry for socialization in a rich western country, so because they don't have to work in some Congo cobalt mine, their time actually is occupied with using the opulent services that those Congo mines service like McD's having blinking monitors for a menu display. There's no shortage of jobs in Samsung factories, assembling more tech into your selfie camera or youtubing machine. It's just called a bad job, like being a plumber, because it's ACTUALLY a job. What you got here is some real princess and the pea situation and I'd send you out the door in a nanosecond. Maybe toss you a rock climbing pick as a parting gift.
I was also very short and skinny as a kid. Eventually fell very ill at 17. I eventually found out I had several nutrient deficiencies, and some food intolerance which took me a while to realise. Try Elliot Overton to find out more info.
God I feel this one in my bones fr. 5'0 here and yeah it's really hard for me to gain weight. Like I can pack away a ton of food, work out a ton (did 2 years of weightlifting and still stayed the same damn weight throughout), but yet can't seem to gain a single ounce of mass whatsoever. I can lose it easily due to high metabolism, and the annoying part is being able to find ANY clothes that fit me pants wise that aren't designated in the kids section. Shoes, bras, socks almost every time as well, even gloves :/ The annoying thing with being skinny and not having much body mass is the fact that you randomly will pinch yourself or hurt yourself like laying down in bed and turning over and s o m e h o w, a section of your side gets pinched between a rib and you have to sit upright, now wide awake to adjust the discomfort = v = The infantilization is extreme, like with any other adults, including those who are my age, it's met with lack of respect commentary, people treating me like a porcelain doll that might crack or shatter if I do something too aggressive or "extreme" for me, or never looking or sounding my age and people assuming I am much younger or much older (this varies from situation to situation, but more times than not it's a negative thing :/ ) It's frustrating man, and it also doesn't help either that when I wear clothes that I feel confident in or cute in, it's either met with more babying OR objectification out the wazoo. Like let me wear overalls and not be treated like a toddler, they are comfortable and have multiple pockets that are deep and durable. Let me wear tall platforms and cute decora/goth/lolita style shoes, no I am not a stripper or a whore, they are comfortable, give me height, and help me balance better with more weight at my base. u - u
No worries about being shortcake like you said everyone will understand what your going through one day just know that you have a lot of support ❤hope that helps👾🥰
i’m 4”11 and i’m so happy to know someone who’s my height 😭 yes the struggles we go through are countless, but us short ppl have to stick together!!🌸i love your videos sm, keep up the great work!
@@achannelname6219 I’m not saying it is the same. Those are two completely different experiences. I’m saying that people don’t talk very much about some of the more serious aspects like getting bullied, the fact that it’s not as safe to drive, struggles with weight loss, etc. I’m well aware being short is not a disability, I would just love to open up conversation about being short that involves some of the more serious aspects that are less talked about
Honestly I’m 6,1 & im jealous. Like you get to walk through a doorway without smacking ur head. Gave myself a concussion once because I tried to run into my kitchen because i smelled burning & slammed my head into the archway.
Feel ya. I'm 6'2 myself and it's just kinda uncomfortable to even feel the doorframe close above my head. I always think to myself, how the actually really tall people have it, must suck :(
Im 4’10 and 18 and i have never felt so seen lol. I relate to everything in this video. Feeling out of place in photos, weight loss problems, being infantilized, I always felt silly for feeling upset about it but it really does hurt your self esteem lol. It makes you feel like people see you as stupid. Thank you for making this video!!
I’m 5,3 at 14 and Idk how to feel. For a majority of my life I felt so much pain about being little and not being big. I always wanted to be just HUGEEEEEE to help shorter people
This was so relatable to me I nearly cried. I feel like I'd be sooo much more confident if I was just a bit taller, especially considering I live in a country with one of the tallest average heights. No one ever takes me seriously so it's hard to take *myself* seriously. Worst part is I actually think I'm pretty good-looking otherwise so I assume the reason people don't hit on me is because they're afraid to go to jail 💀
Something I wanted to add to this video is how some people would use being short as an insult, in any sort of argument they could just say “Oh I know you’re not talking shortie!” and how you can’t really say anything about that because you ARE short but it’s not something to be insulted for. I’m the average height (5’4) but I still face people who are maybe like 5’9 or something telling me that my opinions suddenly aren’t valid because I’m a few inches shorter than them, which isn’t and will never be true.
I’m a short person about 4’9 and let me tell you, everything you said in this video I can relate to. When walking up the stairs I always have a butt up in my face. Especially how everyone gives you the baby talk omg it gets annoying. It’s okay at first but it really does feel like I’m being treated as a child. Love your art style 🌸🪷🩷
Wait, people actually do that? That's rude. I'm 6'4" and I've known people who's head barely reached the bottom of my ribcage and I'd never even dream of doing babytalk at them. What the hell?
I'm 4'3 and 16,i feel you! I sometimes get physically bullied in school and I once got pushed off the staircase because of a cute crowd in elementary school, I looked like a toddler then so I'm pretty proud of my height now
I genuinely cannot imagine being at that height. I'm a tall dude (5'11 at 15), so I've only seen the world and people from that point of view. Thinking about dropping even a few inches kinda breaks my brain a little bit. I'm glad that you are proud of your height though.
Looks like not all small women need head pats. As a tall person, I value their feelings and will only talk the way a height conscious woman would prefer for me to talk. Keep doing you, girl. You got this.
Considering that at the age of 16-ish years old I was the bottom rung in a human ladder in a team building exercise with two other chonky teenagers and the tall kid in my grade (I think he was somewhere around 6'6" but not certain definitely somewhere in the middle of the 6' height range though) during a school camping trip, pretty sure that wouldn't be a problem for me. Must've had over 400 lbs of peer group relatively easily standing on my shoulders.
I'm not going to lie. I pretty much stopped growing in 5th grade as well😂. I was lucky to have some growth my senior year in high school.... i'm still short....
IM ALSO 4’10!!! (im almost 18 too)😭!! I relate so so much to this video I cant even begin to thank ya for makin this video! Being super short does make living in a tall world harder but Its even weirder when you’re not noticed as a short person. I totally get the “infant” perspective and ngl its hard to brush off, but knowing other short ppl feel this is so relieving!🙏😮💨 SHORT GANG FOREVER
As a 5’5 guy, I can relate. I work in the school system and people have only recently stopped thinking that I’m a student. And that’s only because I just grew a beard
I’m really short and I’ve been made fun of a lot and called “the short one” by my friends. It’s good to see others people including you going through the same which makes me feel like I’m not alone. :D
4'11 enby here, I used to work as a hospital prep in the kitchen I struggled getting all the other stuff my co workers were so easy to get. I can't wait to go work there again as soon as I can, I had wonderful co workers who understood that I am "short".
Oof, my enbyfriend is a smol bean too. I didn't reallize how annoying being short was as well until meeting them. Hugs and bugs for all the short monarchs and kings ❤🐜
I'm am enby too and also 3cm shorter than her 😭 being treated like a 5 year old is an everyday thing, not to mention I live in a homobhobic country so that just makes it living hell
I hit 6'3" as a freshman in high school and stopped there. The desks were so small I had to get permission to use a folding table and chair for my classes. To this day I either sleep in a queen size bed or a hammock because anything smaller has the chance of my 3' arms whipping over the side and slamming my hands into a wall or dresser. Between the joint/back/neck issues and the strain on my heart (apparently hitting that height so early wasn't good for the old ticker), I've honestly wished I hadn't ended up so tall. At least not as quickly as I did. PS: Another thing I found funny is how the house I bought, I had to rehang all the mirrors because they were to low and will have to replace the toilets because they are too small and short.
I'm just 5'1 (and asian as well) and when you said that you grew tall as a kid and then suddenly stopped growing in 5th grade I immediately thought, "same"!
Im glad your on the path of respecting yourself, everyone does need to go through that major path in theyre life, as for me i believe im just an average, i wish you luck on your path
This was really cutely animated, thanks for sharing your experience. It definitely sounds hard, as even my wife at 5'3" struggles with not being able to reach stuff, so I can imagine shorter than that would be extra tough. The one advantage of being shorter is you don't have to deal with the intense back pain of someone like me at 6'3", who is ALWAYS bending down or craning my neck down to grab or look at things, and it really builds up pain and stiffness over time.
I'm 4'10 too and in 5th tbh everyone says I'm short bc I'm not in my fives yet and I only grew 1 inch this year so I feel you. MY GROWTH SPURT ISN'T GROWTH SPURTING😭😭
I feel you, im like almost 5' but my 5'4 ish friend calls me short, btw we would be about over average hight since a 12 year old's height is 4'6 to 5' something (im in 5th grade to)
I love your characters design, but just because your short doesent mean you cant be skilled your youtube channel is inspiring for others and Its adorable to see youtubers like you grow a community :3
As a 6'4 individual, I know my role in life. So I lift weights and stretch as much as I can, so I can carry/reach whatever needs done. Whether it be objects or lifting my smol frens. I've occasionally carried my not so short frens. One of them sitting at around 370lbs, not a complaint outta me! This is what I was made for! Get you a tall fren who's sole reason for exercise is to carry you when you can't carry yourself anymore.
I’m 5 foot 1, certainly not the shortest but basically guaranteed to be the shortest in most groups and it used to make it hard in Highschool but I don’t feel it as much now but every point you brought up really stuck with me, especially the infantilization, I’m the oldest of my siblings and therefore grew up very quickly to care for them but when I’m outside of that I’m treated like a child often and it’s especially noticeable at my work where the fact people think I’m younger than I am is supremely obvious.
At first I was just sad about it, when they made fun of me for it at school. Later in life it became a running joke, which I embraced, and now I make a poker face everytime someone tries to ridicule me for it, because it became boring.
I'm a 5'8 girl, which is pretty tall (above average at least) for a woman. I do think I look intimidating or weird, especially when I'm not with people my age. I feel like I stand out so much when a group of small old ladies is near me. And I cannot wear those cool y2k platform boots because I don't want to be 6ft. But I will no longer not take *my reach* for granted, thank you for explaining ur story!!
I love wearing platforms as a 5'10 girly 😌 I live in a place where almost everyone have the tall genes tho, so I don't stand out that much lmaoooo, but if you find platforms cool I recommend you try to wear them once in a while for funsies yk
5'10 here.. it sucks not being able to blend in and i always feel out of place when 99.9% of women come up to maybe my chest. but at the same time, i dont feel as scared walking alone to my car and people definitely show you more respect if you're tall, plus i can reach the top shelf of most things so thats always a plus
I’m 5’10”. When I was in highschool I felt out of place too. So, if you’re younger, don’t worry, it gets better. I used to worry too much about my weight because I was bigger all round than the other girls my age. And some tall people slouch to blend in. But don’t do that. Turns out I was actually in perfect proportion for my height; and if I’d been a sloucher, I’d be paying for it now with back pain. Don’t worry about standing out. 💖 you’re exactly how you’re supposed to be. I don’t feel out of place anymore and you won’t feel that way forever either.
Being tall is honestly an experience haha, at a certain point past 6 foot like 2-3 something everything gets inconvenient... the amount of times I've run into things or had to desperately adjust car seat settings have been a tale in and of themselves. However there's benefits too as you listed but I've always felt a fairly self conscious over my visibility as I'm struggling to be the 'ideal' tall individual and constantly stress that I'm unpleasant and overbearing. hmm... maybe I shouldn'ta dumped all this here but ehh heights a goofy thing : ) (cool vid and nice use of splatoon music at the end there!)
So true :D I'm not even that tall at 6'2 and the looks I sometimes get in shops and such are real uncomfortable. You kinda just feel a lot more visible than everyone else, which isn't exactly great when you don't like the attention :(
This reminds me, there was this Japanese woman who made a 3 book series about the ins and outsof being 150cm. Nice oc, hair looks kinda like a lotus flower
May you have many great opportunities in your future, istg there are so many underrated UA-camrs out there and you’re one of them most definitely!! You remind me of the old classic animated UA-camrs and I hope one day you’ll become the next generation of the UA-cam Animators 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I relate to the infantilization part a bit. Not only am I as short as a kid(I'm 4' 11"), but I also LOOK like a kid too, and it's always been like that. I looked like I was 7 when I was a 6th grader, and 8th grade girls would sometimes say "aww" when they saw me despite me only being two years younger than them(but granted I was also acting pretty immature back then). I'm 19 now and still look like I'm 13-14, and I'm worried that because of that my love life will be non-existent. What girl would want to date a guy that looks like a preteen? I've been able to cope a lot better knowing that I'm way shorter than other guys, but as more people I know start dating and having girlfriends the more worried I become that won't be really possible for me. But I've also heard you are supposed to work on improving yourself and building confidence first before you try to date, so I might just do that for right now.
The worst is seeing that people are getting more exigent about physical characteristics when finding a partner bc I am a 5'6 boy (like 1,68m) 17y old and many want someone taller than 5'9 (1,79m)
It gets better as you get older; most people realize that height is really not that big a deal in a relationship as soon as they start trying to date outside of/after high school. A 30-year-old who turns someone down because of their height is going to be seen as a shallow idiot. You've got the entire rest of your life to find someone if that's what you want, don't worry too much about it now
Girl I feel you I am also a short man umong my peirs and it sucks I also have to do deal with teasing bullying and other self degrading things I'm a little bit taller than you being a stagering 5'0 but non the less I have the same struggles, alot of short people do but I try not to let it get to me i'm still young and still growing mabye if I'm lucky I could grow to a good even height of 5'5 I'd fine with that heh I'm gonna admit I even bought booster to make it seem like I was growing but besides all that I came to accept my height and with the information that I know and this video which by the way is amazing I know that I'll be fine and being short it actually better for me. So yeah hopefully I can grow but till then i'm gonna be proud of my height and not let anything get me down
This animation relates so much it's starting to hit hard and differently every time. Especially if this has happened to you before. This shows how sometimes difficult life can be by height. You can feel the way shortcxke is feeling the pain. But for me i've learned that people can find a way to solve instead of how problems your having can be suffering in all seriousness as people take responsibility. You're not too late on anything.
I feel like this gives a deeper message, is to always treat other people with respect no matter how different they are, is the way people look just way you are and lastly, it's to absolutely never give up on anyone but most importantly never give up on yourself. Plus congrats on hitting 200k subs because all the support you ever desire. May God Bless to everyone's soul and to you too, shortcxke ma'am.
6:57 OBJECTION! as a 6ft 193cm tall person, I get to suffer from back pain, higher food costs, incorrect medication dosages, being expected to be “strong” or lift large objects by my self, needing to lean down to use a counter top, constantly ducking through doorways, smashing my feet and knees into everything and anything, having fun fitting onto a toilet either because it’s placed for someone without legs or arms or is small enough to bruise my butt cheeks, constant clothing issues either being too tight or too short in one dimension or another (example tight sleeves, short torso, tight tall torso, tight neck holes, super wide short torso small sleeves) I would love to see this high paying job based on height.
I'm a lil bit taller than you. I'm 4'10.27" or 148 cm. Yea, I feel you. I'm shorter than my mom (a lil bit) and dad, and yes I got asian genes. I'm from Indonesia so my height isn't really a problem here, but here is the problem. I have a plan to move to China for college and you know people there must be pretty taaaaaller than me. I'm 13 but I have a condition where my bone age is actually 15 years old, also the last time I checked to the doctor my growth plate is almost closed. I really wish that I can be at least 160 or 165 cm. I'm still trying now, searching every way on UA-cam and Google. I wish the best for you, all of you who are reading this (and watching this video), and also for me :) Your video also made me feel more confident about my height, thank you. :D
I am 1,76 and not only the shortest person at my workplace but also the shortest of all my siblings. Some of them 4 years younger than me. While i can't relate to most of your struggles as I am fairly average sized, I do struggle with the whole "people don't take me serious" problem. I even admit to wearing heavy duty boots to boost my height (No high heels for me as a man). And it's just embarrasing when someone mentions it. That's why i got into wheight lifting and sports in order to at least always be more muscular. It helps in having that intimidation effect too.
Jax caught me off guard frfr why the heck does he have so many simps, I mean I've been jumpscared by so many "saucy" fanart pics online that going online for me, is the equivalent of dangling my leg over a bridge with crocodiles beneath and hoping they don't snap at it
Thank you for this video. It honestly opened my eyes because I’ve been struggling with my weight since I was a little kid, but now I’ve realised that I shouldn’t compare myself to the “average“. Something that ticks me off personally is the confidence tall people have when mocking me. I know this is the case for a lot of things, but I just think it’s so insanely stupid how proud some people are of physical traits they were born with, traits the didn’t even have to work for. Fortunately, I have a fellow short person in my friend group who I can share my struggles with - although that doesn’t stop our mutual tall bestie from being an absolute nuisance and commenting on our height every other day

i'm 4'11 as an adult, 2:50 it's so frustrating when my much taller classmates will take up the lower areas of where we're working/sharing our work, leaving no room for me to place my stuff in an area that i can reach when they could just as easily place it higher.

drink some milk, eat your veggies, go to the gym That may give you some additional inches and even if it doesn't, it will make you strong. It's easy to gain muscle and strength when you're short, the best powerlifters on Earth are short, some below 4'5. And then, when you're strong, punch EVERYONE in the nuts.

Same. and I still do. someone even went as far to say, "Are you lost looking for your class little boy?" (My school goes from Kindergarten-8th grade) and yes, while i do look like a fourth grader or maybe an even younger grade, people meme on me a by also saying "You look like a 4th grader" "You can easily blend in with these younger kids" "my younger sister is taller than you" etc. and it's really hurtful to me. being short is both a blessing and a curse. I can't reach anything on the top shelves at stores without the help of an employee

Oh yeah your short💀-
1st grader? Rookie numbers
@@neztech. ah yikes
Like they're asking about my day but It sounds like they're about to offer me a dog treat or ask if I need to call my mommy to be picked up >:(
Sometimes someone will talk to me normally, find out I have autism, and then CHANGE how they talk- again, not in clarifying things for me, but in talking around me in the third person like the video talks about, and again in talking to me in the same voice they use for small children and animals.
[EDIT]
Finally managed to scrounge up a functioning tape measure. Turns out I'm closer to 5' something since the last time I checked.
Doesn't change anything. Still short and angry.
"4' [...] man" I'm sorry for your loss.
I am 6'4 and at 23, I also get these "when I was your age" lectures from people I have no relation with. At times from people who aren't even 5 years older than me. Like I once got some lecture from a 23 year old when I was 19 or 20, she talked to me as if I was a special needs kid, despite us working the same job
It's something people do to display some kind of superiority, to rub into your face that they're more mature and wiser and all that shit. Comes from insecurity ultimately I think
Thats brutal man I'm sorry.

But international travel makes me feel like I'm a 6 year old 😂
The average height in America is 5'4" but the moment I step foot on international ground, the average hight is 5'7".

Saaaame, 5'2 and still struggling to get into 100 lbs
Shoes, bras, socks almost every time as well, even gloves :/ The annoying thing with being skinny and not having much body mass is the fact that you randomly will pinch yourself or hurt yourself like laying down in bed and turning over and s o m e h o w, a section of your side gets pinched between a rib and you have to sit upright, now wide awake to adjust the discomfort = v =
The infantilization is extreme, like with any other adults, including those who are my age, it's met with lack of respect commentary, people treating me like a porcelain doll that might crack or shatter if I do something too aggressive or "extreme" for me, or never looking or sounding my age and people assuming I am much younger or much older (this varies from situation to situation, but more times than not it's a negative thing :/ ) It's frustrating man, and it also doesn't help either that when I wear clothes that I feel confident in or cute in, it's either met with more babying OR objectification out the wazoo.

Me too 😢
that last part is crazy

Something I wanted to add to this video is how some people would use being short as an insult, in any sort of argument they could just say “Oh I know you’re not talking shortie!” and how you can’t really say anything about that because you ARE short but it’s not something to be insulted for. I’m the average height (5’4) but I still face people who are maybe like 5’9 or something telling me that my opinions suddenly aren’t valid because I’m a few inches shorter than them, which isn’t and will never be true.
If someone uses this in an actual argument, just call them ignorant and move on, nothing to be gained if they rely on ad hominems.
I’m a short person about 4’9 and let me tell you, everything you said in this video I can relate to. When walking up the stairs I always have a butt up in my face.

Even without having seen it yet, it's already a true masterpiece, yaaay luv ya shortcxke!!🍓🍰✨

You know the best part about knowing how to draw but being short? YOU CAN DRAW YOURSELF TALL!!
Thats What i do :)
Im only a few centimeters taller than her
And yet my freinds point out to me that I'm not that tall. 😭
NICE FANTASY DRAWING
I’m 5 foot 1, certainly not the shortest but basically guaranteed to be the shortest in most groups and it used to make it hard in Highschool but I don’t feel it as much now but every point you brought up really stuck with me, especially the infantilization, I’m the oldest of my siblings and therefore grew up very quickly to care for them but when I’m outside of that I’m treated like a child often and it’s especially noticeable at my work where the fact people think I’m younger than I am is supremely obvious.
OMG tysm for the captions!!!! im very greatful. even though i'm able to listen (i have no hearing issues) it just helps to have proper subtitles.
Taller than me! Hehe
5'10 here.. it sucks not being able to blend in and i always feel out of place when 99.9% of women come up to maybe my chest. but at the same time, i dont feel as scared walking alone to my car and people definitely show you more respect if you're tall, plus i can reach the top shelf of most things so thats always a plus
My sister is 5'8" too
Being tall is honestly an experience haha, at a certain point past 6 foot like 2-3 something everything gets inconvenient... the amount of times I've run into things or had to desperately adjust car seat settings have been a tale in and of themselves. However there's benefits too as you listed but I've always felt a fairly self conscious over my visibility as I'm struggling to be the 'ideal' tall individual and constantly stress that I'm unpleasant and overbearing. hmm... maybe I shouldn'ta dumped all this here but ehh heights a goofy thing : ) (cool vid and nice use of splatoon music at the end there!)
i appreciate your sincerity and honesty in this comment
Hell, even at 6' things like legroom in public transit get real annoying. I can't imagine having to live even taller than that 😅
Every height is a problem.
Your struggles are valid. No matter what 😢
So true :D I'm not even that tall at 6'2 and the looks I sometimes get in shops and such are real uncomfortable. You kinda just feel a lot more visible than everyone else, which isn't exactly great when you don't like the attention :(
You've earned yourself a subscriber ‼️
This reminds me, there was this Japanese woman who made a 3 book series about the ins and outsof being 150cm. Nice oc, hair looks kinda like a lotus flower
I LITERALLY REALTE TO EVERY SECOND OF THIS VIDEO. I FEAL GUILTY FOR FEELING HAPPY FOR RELATING MY PROBLEMS😭😭
May you have many great opportunities in your future, istg there are so many underrated UA-camrs out there and you’re one of them most definitely!! You remind me of the old classic animated UA-camrs and I hope one day you’ll become the next generation of the UA-cam Animators 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Holy moly u uploaded bro I forgot abt this channel still fire
SHORT PPL RISE!!! If we can..
Happy to see another video 🥰🙏🏻
ALSO FELT, I have literally climbed the shelves at the grocery store
Ur voice is so chill,i love it,subbed
The worst is seeing that people are getting more exigent about physical characteristics when finding a partner bc I am a 5'6 boy (like 1,68m) 17y old and many want someone taller than 5'9 (1,79m)
It gets better as you get older; most people realize that height is really not that big a deal in a relationship as soon as they start trying to date outside of/after high school. A 30-year-old who turns someone down because of their height is going to be seen as a shallow idiot. You've got the entire rest of your life to find someone if that's what you want, don't worry too much about it now
Yea I'm 20y 1,68m as well, not easy
help i came across this, now you are one of my idols, and YOU’RE FROM THE SAME COUNTRY AS ME?? omg kamusta
So yeah hopefully I can grow but till then i'm gonna be proud of my height and not let anything get me down
Baby Doll was a horrifically tragic Batman villain.
6:57 OBJECTION! as a 6ft 193cm tall person, I get to suffer from back pain, higher food costs, incorrect medication dosages, being expected to be “strong” or lift large objects by my self, needing to lean down to use a counter top, constantly ducking through doorways, smashing my feet and knees into everything and anything, having fun fitting onto a toilet either because it’s placed for someone without legs or arms or is small enough to bruise my butt cheeks, constant clothing issues either being too tight or too short in one dimension or another (example tight sleeves, short torso, tight tall torso, tight neck holes, super wide short torso small sleeves)
I would love to see this high paying job based on height.
I love story time UA-camrs and I'm shocked that I've never seen you. Subscribed.
Omg I remember watching one of ur vids when u had like 80k subs and it’s so cool to see u growing so fast and gl w everything
Awesome video.
Also I thought the ending was leading up to a skillshare sponsor LOL
Omg first time I've seen your channel your charter is so cute ^^
I'm also 4'10 :"] the only difference is I'm a guy and 20 y/o so... the struggle is real.
It helps in having that intimidation effect too.
wait, 1'76, like the "1" is one foot?
@TroopaToots this in metric so 1 meter 76 centimeters. Not small at all but still i am the smallest person of the people i know.
Seriously ma men , that's my dream height, if you struggle with 1.76 imagine being 1.63
Jax caught me off guard frfr why the heck does he have so many simps, I mean I've been jumpscared by so many "saucy" fanart pics online that going online for me, is the equivalent of dangling my leg over a bridge with crocodiles beneath and hoping they don't snap at it
Thank you for this video.
Fortunately, I have a fellow short person in my friend group who I can share my struggles with - although that doesn’t stop our mutual tall bestie from being an absolute nuisance and commenting on our height every other day
heavy agree on that. jerks get their shitty personalities amplified SO much if they happen to have won the genetics lottery, generally the amount of respect people get or dont get just based on physical appearance is bs
It’s awsome your doing great …don’t ever give up on your dreams ok❤
You know I will subscribe and support you because you know what I love supporting people who are honest And even if You did show your real self we wouldn't judge you❤❤❤
As someone just shy of 6'2 I do my best to make sure the shorties don't feel inferior. Much love
Speaking on behalf of tall guys, we LOVE short girls! Grabbing high things off the shelf for you feels so nice :)
i'm 4'11 as an adult, 2:50 it's so frustrating when my much taller classmates will take up the lower areas of where we're working/sharing our work, leaving no room for me to place my stuff in an area that i can reach when they could just as easily place it higher.
huge respect from me since I'm a Filipino too, regardless of height your attitude and your optimism makes up for it, good job (ps: ive been following you for years)
I might wonder if being short isn't AS bad in the Philipines...
i love the amazing digital circus easter eggs :)
glad to see you uploaded again
I stopped growing at 12. I'm 16 rn and I'm 4'9.
*Forever*
dude same
except, i don't know whether i've stopped growing or not
SAME
drink some milk, eat your veggies, go to the gym
That may give you some additional inches and even if it doesn't, it will make you strong. It's easy to gain muscle and strength when you're short, the best powerlifters on Earth are short, some below 4'5. And then, when you're strong, punch EVERYONE in the nuts. They won't be able to do anything against it
no offense but 4'9 is actually ridiculous
@@Realaccount29l993 how come?
"Can't judge me based on how tall I am"
girl your OC is also short yes we can xD
also... short is cute.
the power of cute cannot be underestimated.
Short girl life: Daw so cute, make funny videos
Short guy life: Hell mode
Hewwo, shotcxke! I’m a new subscriber and saw both this vid and the animation one too. Your voice and yourself are very beautiful and very adorable. I you’re amazing and I can’t wait to watch more of your cuteness!!x3
