    Can you please run a scenerio for me. I'd like to use this on portable means while travelling during events. Can you please see if rather than connecting it to an home wifi if you can connect it to a hotspot say from a ipad or phone. Basically some ipads/ tablets will allow you to bump off the signal from them as an hotspot.....Will it work then?

    Great Video Man! I got my camera set up with Amcrest view Pro, but how do I get the camera to send me push notifications when the motion detection is activated? I tried adding this camera to the amcrest cloud service and everytime I try to sign in with the credentials I set up the camera with, I get wrong username or password😡 very frustrating! I like the cloud app because I can get the storage and push notifications in one place, buy it is not allowing me do sign up from my mobile device using the cloud app. Do I really need amcrest cloud? or can amcrest view pro do the same thing? Thanks.

    Having tested out both the Amcrest 720p and the 1080p, which did you prefer? Also would you recommend these units versus other units you have tested out? I am looking to get two cameras, one to watch the front door/living room area and the second as a baby cam in my son's nursery. I am looking to spend $80-$150 per camera.

      In terms of quality, no. With 1080P model at such an attractive price, it's my go to camera. For those that don't want to spend $100, then 720P model is good too.

    I have been enjoying your videos... from Foscam to this Amercret.
    I have few questions about Amcrest:
    1. Is resolution adjustable?
    2. How to view camera from outside network? Like to view from work desktop PC.
    3. Do I need to have port forwarding setup from my router?

      2. will need to set up port forwarding on the router if you want to access the camera directly from a pc outside of the camera's home network
      3. no if you want to watch from smartphone, yes if you want to watch from pc

      Short answer is yes.
      It are a couple of ways to do it. Easy method isn't popular (nor secure). My preferred method is to open ports on my router.

      hi. the second phone needs the Amcrest smartphone app and needs the camera's unique ID, username, and password in order to view the camera.
      you don't have to use wifi because this camera also has a built in network port

      audio and ethernet cable are two seperate fuctions
      if you can connect to the device, using wifi or ethernet, you can access two-way audio.

      What if you were to complete the initial setup from a computer Web browser? Afterward, add the camera to the smartphone app.

    just bought this product from Amazon, tried to set it up through the phone app. I got it working but I needed email alerts. I opened the app on my desktop and with the UI, I updated the camera's firmware. I followed directions on how to set up the alerts but email testing doesn't work or failed. And when I opened the phone app again, I was locked out. I couldn't find a way around the issue so I deleted the camera from the app then added it again. The same thing happened after I logged out from the phone app, my live view is locked out again. Then I read from a forum about this issue, Amcrest said that people have to call their tech support everytime that problem or issue comes up. Have you encountered this issue before when you use the phone app?

    ok thank you so much i already connected to my cell phone and it works perfect.but with tge ethernet cable... but now.and im trying to connect the camera with tge wifi but i cant.....i did all the steps and it said the device already exits....but the problem that i never enter a name for the device on the computer.....so what can i do....thanks

    I am having trouble with the motion detection feature. I can't seem to have the camera to keep on recording while I am away from my bedroom. once i have it on record on my phone, the moment i exit the app, the recording stops. does that happen to you too? i wonder how can i have it set up to where it is recording all the time and send me alerts through phone text and emails even when i am not watching it through my android phone. i have had other brand who has email and text alerts which was helpful because i can set it and forget it... this amcrest camera however seems to be only working when i am on the app. is this the same with you?

      The smartphone app does not record if you exit the app. If you can access the camera using the web interface and you have put a micro SD Card (like 32GB) into the unit, you can set it up to record motion and access those recordings from the smartphone app.
      Through the web interface, you can also set it to send you emails or SMS alerts.
      Their web interface has all available options where the smartphone app only lists the most popular options.

    Just set this up and it works well. Now, when I am not on my Wi-Fi connection on my phone, can I still view the live feed? Or is it only usable when the phone is on the same Wi-Fi as the camera?

      You can add many camera to the app. Many ways to add, I just use the P2P method for each unit.

    Hi I have a question...I just receive my camera ,and I just did all the steps I connected to the wifi and when it's says it's now successfully set up for live viewing and then I clicked it says is failed ,but it don't ask me to change password and I'm confused because this is the first time i do this so I dont know why it don't ask for the password....

      This particular unit is rated for indoor use so I would not recommend using it outdoors. It is not weatherproof.

      I set the recording time to every day of the week and 24 hours a day. I use a Kingston 32GB micro SD card and it stores roughly 24 hours of 1080P video.

      And you added the camera by scanning the QR code at the bottom of the unit? If so, I'm not sure why it doesn't work when not on Wifi. Is there another smartphone you can test with?

      Yes QR code and all. I am just throwing this out there now but do you think if I'm away from home and there's a power glitch that the camera might not automatically connect to the Wi-Fi??

      Can't go wrong with either one. I think it comes down to how much are you willing to spend.
      Even though a 1080P version sounds great, you would have to decide if your equipment can handle it and if your cellular data plan can accommodate the 1080P bitrate. For example, my coworker used 20GB of cellular data a month monitoring four cameras.

      I ended up ordering the 1080 for less $ than the 720 one!
      I bought the Vimtag camera a couple of weeks ago, but I'm not a fan, It's going back to Amazon. The app is not responsive and it doesn't always work. Let's see how this Amcrest performs when it arrives.

      +AwkwardHamster EEEK !!! I have a 2GB per month data plan (with rollover, so I get about 2.5GB), so I guess I don't plan on using any of my data to monitor the 1080P camera I just ordered. I guess I'll only check it when I am hooked up to wifi. :) There must be a way to set my phone (Samsung/Android) so it won't access unless wifi is available. Help?

    Gone through this over and over and keep getting device already exists after scanning the serial number, I can't progress on from this and I tried using the pro version with same crap message coming up. Anyone know whats going on I don't want to have to return this I been at it for a few hours now. My review of this wont be a happy one and I've noticed loads of people having similar issues with the app. Even tried re setting the LED button and that doesn't seem to work it stays on green when I press it in.

      You can use Amcrest IP Config, available for windows and mac to start with initial setup. But, the camera would need to be plugged into your router using network cable.

      you can be anywhere in the world with open internet and view live using your smartphone.
      You can save it to a computer if you want. More popular option these days is to save it to a network server. I have mine on a private cloud service using Synology or QNAP. There are paid services out there too.

    why won't your app download to a Apple product? I've tried many times and it won't d/l to my iPhone or my iPad. My husband got it to d/l to his Android. I can d/l other apps, just not the Lite or Pro. Had friends try on their iPhones and it wouldn't work for them either. I called your support # and got nowhere. The rating of your app in the App store is a one star with most all reviews having the same issue as I have.

    I have problem setup the camera. I am not able to setup via Wifi. only works in Ethernet
    cable. I using Android phone. My cable modem is ARRIS SURFboard SBG6782AC.

      Hi. That's an 802.11ac router. Is it broadcasting two wifi SSID names? Probably both named the same except one has 5G in the name. The Amcrest unit only works with 2.4GHz wifi.

    I actually think that I will NEVER get this camera set up to view on my mobile phone. Not even at home, on the same wifi network. Not wifi or Ethernet. Every time I leave username and password as admin & admin, as instructed, enter the appropriate network credentials, get the confirmation that the device was added, but Live View won't work because it says the username or password are incorrect.

      Okay, found the problem.... and it is something Amcrest should specify. This product's app does not work fully on iPhone 4 and therefore cannot connect to the camera.

    Camera is not picked up at all by the Amcrest config. program dated 2015?
    My AT&T Droid Note 3 is connected to my Home Wifi.
    I can see live video on my phone using OWLR only when the camera is directly tethered to my router by a Ethernet cable. No cable . . . No Live View.
    NOTHING within my wifi network shows up in the Amcrest Config. Program or populates.
    I want to use OWLR as a viewer . . . tired of hearing people complain about Amcrest.
    I may never get this hooked up correctly? Shame . . . nice enough camera . . . 1080P PTZ & Voice . . . wish the 4X Zoom was Optical instead of Grainy Digital but . . .
    Have Amcrest on call but not holding my breath.
