This would be a really good thing, instead if buying a expensive pc you can by a series x. And many steam players want game pass on it😮
I’ve always been a PlayStation guy but if they put steam on the series x that would genuinely make me switch over
It is a game changer for me, it would give me a reason to buy a Xbox Series X just for Steam. I prefer the Xbox controller and it would be nice to play some of my backwards compatible 360 games again.

@@MajorBen So a laptop then? I have my laptop hooked up to my tv, I just turn it on, hit the xbox controller button, and select a game from the xbox menu on the laptop. It's literally the same amount of steps as an xbox except it's just as portable but can be played without needing a tv which is arguably more simple than an xbox. The best part is you don't need a subscription to play multiplayer or use party functions. I'd say it's more simple. Not to mention mod support which can simplify things even more, mods are always better than the base games and it's not even close.
I have an xbox, I only use it to play smite which I stream to my laptop, and I only do that because I can't recover my pc account for some reason. If you want simplicity, an xbox isn't gonna help you there. The only purpose it has is to play exclusive titles because it's not that much cheaper either.
Sure if it cost the same as a console. The series xis already a beafy console. The cpu is overclocked to run at 3.8 GHz and features a graphics card closely equivelent to an RTX 2070 super. 4k UHD with the option of 120 fps (if you have the right TV or monitor) this console alone could run steam just fine. Your laptop isn't running a desktop cpu or graphics card since, it won't fit in the laptop. That doesn't mean there isn't laptops that perform pretty much side by side with the series x though but, it also means it would have costed a lot of money, probably triple the cost. I like gaming laptops, they are very portable but the main problem is just the cost. My xbox is priced just a couple hundred more dollars than a brand new cpu from nvidia. Also, currently there just isn't a gaming laptop that put performs the series x yet so, it is the best bang for your buck. The PS5 is cool but it isn't a performance console in my opinion, isn't an entertainment system which makes sense and hence why xbox needs steam right now. Yes, there isn't an overload of exclusives compared to the non exclusive list for 2924 but there is still currently at least like 10 games that ps5 has that xbox doesn't. That's okay with me personally because the majority of those games are campaign based ajd kind of fit for whoever is a fan of that playstation studios nostalgia. It's fun to jump into but I want a budget pc and the xbox is the closest thing to it. @@Pax_Mayn3

I assume ur referring to the steam workshop but it also be nice if we could download mods Such as fivem off of other sites as well
If they give Xbox players the freedom of mods and other things we have on PC then that would be huge, Sony wouldn't be able to compete with that, because open mod support is huge. Xbox players can also just play their exclusives on Steam which is another thing. I also think day and date for Sonys games are going to happen. So yeah if this turns out to be true, we would be in for a wild ride.
PS will re-evaluate their PC porting strategy if Steam comes to Xbox.
@@bosskey23they can’t and Steam running on windows platforms that Microsoft has the assets getting all the games from Steam. Why would Sony do that? They’ll lose money in which they lost a of money put themselves in a deep hole. They’re games already on PC and more to come. Sony still living on last gen rely their consoles instead of games unlike Xbox gamepass because Sony not in the position have the money to do so.
@@Guy_of_king PS doesnt need PC. Xbox was and is in last place in the console. So they pivoted to PC at the expense of their console HW. PS and Nintendo will be ok without PC
@@bosskey23 Microsoft doesn't need console sale of that was the case Microsoft wouldn't put their games on pc is all making on the games not on the platform exclusive into one system. Sony need PC their not making enough money in one system that's why seeing like square enix want to put their games on other platforms. Their will be more ps5 games coming to PC. The gaming industry has changed game studio not making enough especially games cost more to make they have to release other them platforms. Sony can't relied on their console even they desperate want to force gamers getting a ps5 still not enough to made up. Going to see more ps5 gaming coming to other platforms just like they did on Nintendo lego horizon adventure game
@@Guy_of_king Xbox GP subs have stagnant because they arent growing their Xbox HW sales. Controlling a platform is more profitable than going 3rd party. Hence the reason Nintendo and PS are doing well. Xbox had few options but to go PC day and date. They lost last gen and had no other choice. This isnt Xbox trying to be pro consumer. It’s simply Xbox being in last place.

Tested FSR Frame Gen on Immortals of Aveum. Had 80-120fps . Very nice 👍. Hopefully we gonna have more of this on consoles 👍

I believe you're right the next Xbox is probably going to be more amazing than the Xbox series X but you're going to be able to play both your your PC games and your Xbox games on a single device in your living room if you have a steam account, the next Xbox could possibly open up a gate to new people possibly interested in Steam as well this could be a win-win for both Xbox and steam. For Xbox buying steam I don't think so I think they could actually either do a full partnership with steamed or Microsoft could buy some shares from Steam in order to ensure that they could still make money from Steam on their platform. The next Xbox could be much like the steam deck but with Windows software in there.

On the other hand, you will probably be able to stream your Steam games via xcloud, which could be a huge win for Valve and their Steam deck

many will not agree but the callisto protocol is way better than deadspace remake,the callisto just played them selves focusing on the ps5 version
With steam and a more open platform with different storefronts being able to subsidize hardware costs seems almost impossible to do maybe they could figure out a way but this move really feels like Xbox being the platform for affordability is gone. 1000USD hardware really doesn't appeal to me might as well just get a pc with that price.

I’m curious. Will Steam be playable on the Original Xbox Series S/X Consoles or it’s only going to be on the next Xbox. I would be very happy if Steam is on Xbox. Since I use my regular computer at my Mom’s/Step Dad’s house and I use my whole family’s Xbox Series S at my Step Mom’s/Dad’s house. When I’m at my Father’s/Step Mother’s house I can play my Steam Games there on the Xbox. I would play BeamNG on Xbox, American Truck Simulator & Euro Truck Simulator 2 on Xbox.
I’ve been waiting for the right moment to get into VR but couldn’t justify meta quest 3 & a gaming computer that I will only use for VR - always been a lover of Xbox since the 1st console ( yes I’m that old!) if this turns out to be true - new console & paired quest/Xbox vr will be a no brainier
That’s the position I’m in. I’m going to get metaquest 3 anyway, but then having to drop £700 at least for a PC also? When I’d only ever play steam really. That’s a £700 steam machine. Nuts.

@@ketanahire984 Well as we’ve seen with steam already, a lot of games just don’t support controller. I feel like if Sony doesn’t want their games played on Xbox they can make it so it’s not supported on Xbox. We already see Steam doing this with PC and MacBook, it’s no different.

Good news, hopefully Microsoft can cope when players abandon the Microsoft Store high game prices and shop at Steam.
Cool for Xbox fans but it begs the question what Xbox even is anymore, it’s genuinely in my opinion doesn’t have an identity, is it a console? A publisher? Maybe a cloud computing brand? No one knows.. adding steam is gonna push this even more.

Me I look at it like this if they did stop making new systems that saves me money I don't have to keep on paying $500 for a new system as long as the new games are still coming on the system that I purchased I'm okay

Maybe they will launch their own launcher on pc and take away their games from steam. Which they tried with helldivers 2 and paddled back, but if that happens they'd probably have to go that route. Or at least they will only release smaller / not so important games on steam so they won't get swallowed by xbox. rumors could also just be hot air.

PC enthusiasts often have a gaming set up in their living room - it's just that we build it ourselves, it's generally HTPC shaped and we set it up so we can easily select steam (go check it out in your client chief, select big picture mode) or PLEX as an option. Xbox while a valid hardware choice simply doesn't cater to the pc enhtuiast crowd, and nor should it. Steam caters to a PC enthusiast crowd, and slapping it on xbox would mean putting it in a closed system which I promise you as a community would just be roundly rejected - xbox and playstation after all is anti consumer.
It...Simply wouldn't work, anyway. The strength of steam is its loyal customer base and I guarantee you that if either Sony or Microsoft made any overtures to buy the company, users would leave the platform - we got burned with Games for Windows Live, as a community I think I can confidently state that PC users are nowhere near as ok with microtransactions as the console platform tends to be. Steam on the xbox in any form is incompatible. And besides, we already had a vision of what a standardised steam games machine would look like, they were called steam machines and they flopped horrendously because dell wanted to charge £800 for the honour of owning one.
Looking at it, I actually think that what Microsoft will probably push (if anything) will be Microsoft Licenced, xbox branded hardware that conforms to a given hardware profile, much like they do with surface products. Mate. I'm not saying couch gaming is a bad idea. What I am saying is that couch gaming the way uncle phil seems to want feels like a bad idea and simply won't resonate. I'd put money on it.
If it's actually happening, IM GONNA SO HAPPY. There are SO many games on the pc that i want to try, but I can't since i'm used to consoles more 🫠
