I live in NE Ohio, on the wrangler we did the dual top group. Hard top from October to April. Hang the hard top and Install soft top April to October.
I’m in Canada so I keep the hard top on for winter and put the soft top on in spring
Hanging the top in the garage is easy. Back in, hang the top, then turn the Jeep around. The hood fits under it with no problem.
I bought my 1st jeep brand new in 2001 and it was a TJ with a manual transmission and dual tops. Sold that jeep in 2012 and bought a brand new 2021 willy's gladiator with a manual transmission and dual tops and it's been fun to drive as well. If I take the freedom panels off, I just put them in the bag that jeep gives you and use the loops on the bag and stick a bungee cord through them and hook it to the bed loops on each side of the truck bed so it doesn't move around.

Soft top down south, hard top up north. I guess im lucky. Ran soft top no windows and unlocked for 7 years with no thefts in San Antonio.
Gladiator soft top looks Weird when you have it back... it just Sits there messing up the Skeleton look I love when everything is Off..

Soft top because the weather can change anytime where I live.
I’ve had both soft and hard tops on the Jeeps I’ve owned. I live in the Deep South. In the summer time it gets so hot I’m prefer a hardtop with the a/c running full blast.
When you are hunting in the fall you leave the hard top on.
SunRider for Hardtop is the answer. Best of both worlds. They should come with them as standard equipment instead of the cumbersome freedom panels.

I bought my 2024 Sahara with a soft top and found on Marketplace a damaged hard top for $600, a bot of fiberglass and rattle can and it looks new! Hard tops are easy to find .
Old soft tops suck. The one on my ‘23 is great.
Get a top lift pro. I have one and I can't say enough good about it. My wife can take it off by herself in about ten seconds. It's great.
I’ve had soft tops and hard tops, and overall I like the hard top better, a few heavy snow storms with a foot of snow, really made my soft top saggy, I was always trying not to leave anything of value in my Jeep with the soft top, the wind noise was much louder etc. the hard top just feels more secure especially in violent storms with high wind and hail, heavy rain, easy to clean off snow, I found taking the doors and freedom panels off to be more fun than having birds crap all over my seats anyway, one very positive reason to have a soft top is leaving your keys inside the Jeep, just unzip a window your in, but overall for me hardtop, oh one more negative experience with a soft top, I went to a drive through zoo once, a 5 hour drive from my house to find out I couldn’t drive my Jeep though the zoo or nature preserve because it was a soft top so I had to get in there stupid bus that didn’t stop once to look at the animals 😢
All great points here on soft top. Another thing to consider is if you ever want to rent a trailer/camper you won't be able to without a hardtop at least that's u-hauls policy IME.

I getting ready to build some kind of winch/hoist for my hardtop in the garage. I think that's the way to go. Back in the Jeep, hoist it up, and drive away. Then you can just park the Jeep under the hard top. There is a 3rd option for winch/hoist that you didn't mention and is budget friendly. You could use either ratchet straps or those self locking straps from eyehooks in the ceiling. I'm trying to decide if I want straps or a winch. I don't have a ahigh garage ceiling like yours.

No soft top .......
I guess it depends where u live. I live in a colder climate so I prefer the hard top. If I lived in a more warmer climate say Florida or Texas I would go with the soft top
Aloha Rob. The only drawbacks for the soft top are the durability issues as the velcro wears out from the weather elements and the security issues where someone is courageous to easily break into the Jeep Wrangler and the Gladiator. Yet, the coverage is great.
There is no Velcro on new soft tops. You’re commenting on old stuff. New soft tops are great. I have one. You’re wrong.
