Pay attention to how perfectly she was able to lie and get away with it, even after being arrested and held for murder. She never broke character, and never once showed her true side. This story deserves a movie and I suggest that you Mr. Ballen write the script so long as you can still feed my insatiable appetite for the strange, dark and mysterious.
This reminds me of a locked room murder case in Korea back in 2010. The apartment (as where most Koreans live) was a new one, only about a year old and the security is pretty high even today's standard. You can only entre with a PIN or a door access card to even get inside the buildings and their staircases + the elevator. The front door access of the buildings would have cameras that takes picture of everyone who swipe their card or entre their PIN. The entire complex was covered with CCTV cameras and everyone's front doors were locked with these digital locks as well as conventional locks. And then there was a murder in one of the floors. The weapon was a kitchen knife belong to the house owner (Mrs. Lee, 69 yo). Her huband, Mr. Park, was out on that day and came back home at 11pm. He had his alibi and it matched with CCTV footage and testimonies from his friends. The GPS record of his phone matched too. He left the house at around 7am and Mrs Lee had a phone call at around 8am. So she was alive after her husband has left the house. The police was trying to figure out how they've entred the building in the first place. They've checked all CCTV footages. The investigators checked the home's security system to see if anyone has pressed the doorbell (in which the camera in front of the house takes a photo of the visitor) but no one has pressed the doorbell and there weren't any photo taken. They checked the system log to see if anyone tried to hack into the system but there was nothing. No doors or windows were open. So the investigators thought the murderer was an acquaintance of the victim but they couldn't find anything. The body had multiple defense marks which led the investigators to think that the murderer is most likely to be an old person or a woman. Someone with weak physical strength. There were cameras that faced both the staircase and the elevator but nothing out of ordinary was found. They've checked everyone who lived in that particular apartment building and checked where they went, trying to put the puzzle together, but they couldn't find the murderer. Some of the Korean internet broadcasters tried to see if they can go inside the building without being captured by CCTV cameras but they soon found out that it's impossible. To this date, no one knows who murdered Mrs. Lee. The investigators cannot find out how the perpetrator entred of exited from the apartment unit and from the building. If you type 'Textbook Locked-Room Mystery from South Korea - Namyangju Locked-room Murder(2010)' on Google, you can find a reddit link to this story.
I wonder if Mrs. Lee killed herself. In 1979, I was in the 12th grade, and our school hosted field trips to different placed, to give us ideas of what job/profession might interest us. One of the places was a courthouse, and in a small room, a policeman gave us a talk. He was telling us different stories of how they were able to solve different murders, using a relatively new medium of detective work. Forensic Science. And there was one case where a woman murdered herself with a knife in such a way as to frame her husband (who was having an affair, and planing on leaving her) for the knife attack that caused her death. How she did it was she took a kitchen knife, that only had her husbands fingerprints on it, and placed it in the space between the kitchen door and the door frame. She placed it high enough, so that when she threw herself backwards onto the knife, the stab wound was in a place and angle that would have been impossible for it to be self inflected. Whether or not she meant to cause her own death, or if she just wanted to inflect enough harm to cause her husband to go to prison for a long, long time, the policeman wasn't sure. And she would have gotten away with framing her unfaithful husband, if it wasn't for two slight, little imprints on either side of the door jam, that lined up the the height of her stab wound and the shape of the knife handle. So I'm wondering if Mrs. Lee could have done something similar. Just a thought.
Most South Korean apartments feature balconies. Someone could enter from a next door balcony. Most have sliding doors. Nothing stated about this feature. This would not be easy, but a young Korean girl could slip from balcony to balcony. It is possible.
@@destinymurray875 Most Korean apartments are floor heated. Ondol steam heat flows through pipes under the floor. Could be that someone took the task of slipping under the floor to cut through and into this apartment. This is assuming that the pipes were shut off.
Mr Ballen is beyond brilliant and extremely gifted with excellent storytelling narratives. But he is also a beautiful soul. Considerate, respectful and non judgmental. Would have loved to be in his physical company, telling a story. His family must be so proud of this intelligent and unpretentious man to whose channel I'm addicted to
MrBallen "John" is such a inspiration to me. 3 vids = 72 hours a week 5 vids =120 hours a week of his time and work.. Super props to him for working so hard to take care of our addiction to his videos.. MrBallen is by far the most hardest working man on UA-cam.. Simply Amazing..

Glad that "Batman" finally moved on. Hopefully he went on to live a normal life with his wife. Not sure how Dolly was lonely when she had all these guys jumping through hoops for her. I have enough trouble with one man. I certainly wouldn't have the energy for all of that. LOL.

Shane on Buzzfeed cracked me up sooo much talking about the watcher. I thought that was solved...maybe I’m just thinking of the super obvious conclusion. There may not be enough actual evidence to close the case officially.
You either have to really really really love someone or be really really really dumb and naive to live silently in their attic in multiple houses for an entire decade. That's some freaky stuff right there...
Really lazy is also a possibility. I know far too many today who would jump at the opportunity to live lonely in an attic if it meant no work, free food and other necessities, plus sex... as long as there was an internet connection of course.
@@DarthLesbian With booze and booty what's even the point of going out? The hardest part would be that newspaper and magazine shit. I read, but on a kindle or phone. A good inet connection and i'd be set to spend nights chilling in an attic watching vids and playing games with headphones.
I need to watch his videos before sleeping. I thought i was the only weird one. LoL ! It's like lullaby to me every night. Indeed very soothing enunciation. Strangely, it feels safe.
“After my husband got killed in a break in I thought it was silly to keep those guns around to protect myself” Definitely could have come up with a better excuse for getting rid of those pistols.
Im kinda surprised that the police didnt think of a possible accomplice to the murder. It would explain her being locked in from the outside and her claiming to hear someone downstairs and not seeing anything
Yeah, why didn't they search the attic? Just like when Jon Benet Ramsey "went missing," the police failed to search the basement, where her body would later be found. Smh
This my favorite category you make videos on. I love listening to the whole story trying to piece it together myself and actually have an answer at the end. The unsolved ones I like too but the solved ones I like more

Mr. Ballen, you may not even realize how important your videos like this one are. Not because they are dark and macabre, but to show the world what people are truly capable of. Forewarned is forearmed.
As if the survivors of the survivors haven't got any clues about how to test the shadows. When we were doing renos we ripped up the ugly ass carpet and found a trapdoor. Of course like normal teens enlisted in their parents desire to do things with their house we wanted to check it out. So we used a hammer to move the deadbolt since it was practically fused with rust (we actually ended up accidently just wacking everything right off. Turns out the bolt wasn't the only thing rusty) Anyway, when we dropped down it was like a garage sized room but barely 5ft high. We later found out through the museum peoples who study stuff and through records that the place had been an illigal brothel/bar and not the good kind either. Hence the deadbolt. And that the museum already had records of the place they just didn't know which of the houses in our area was the one being referred to in their journals and notes and stuff at the time. We also learned it had been used to hide people who were fleeing various situations at various times. I guess it explains why there was so many damn alcohol bottles hidden behind wall panels. We even found a really old set of pistols. Like really old. But still in good condition at least in appearance. I certainly wouldn't want to try firing them as they might blow up in my hand given the time period and time passed. That's assuming I could figure out how to load the damn things and make it fire. Found a handful of knives, of the eating variety not the skewering kind, and a flashy sword. Couple of books and papers and newspapers were used for insulation. Apparently the museum wanted most of that stuff so we let em have it...except the sword and the pistols.
@@jsyoukr1 as far as I know the museum never did any display thing they just looked through shit and added it to the "stuffs that happened in this time period" and cross-referenced with other stuff to get accurate stuffs. But about 1 in every 4 houses on our street were built pre building laws (mine isn't even attached to its foundation for instance. One big earthquake and we're fucked) back when the properties were bigger. Then they divided it all into smaller parcels of land just kept the older buildings. But oh god was that carpet ugly. Picture a mix of puke yellow shag carpet of the kind you loose you're entire foot in not just your toes and the wall panels were fake velvet orange and black. All this over the original wood paneling and the cement(?) Quarry stone(?) Floor. I don't know what the floor originally looked like as it was probably ripped up to make way for the ugly carpet. But it's so weird to see actual wood paneling without the whole machine cutting so everything is the same size or the fake wood laminate stuff. But it was the Victoria BC museum I contacted but I ended up sending the stuff somewhere in Vancouver I think if I remember right.
I’ve watched so many of these stories, this one might be one of the craziest. I too suffer depression and listening to these episodes almost make you forget…thank you
I love the way MrBallen enacts the action scenes. Especially when he mimicked pointing the gun and moving around with it. Former Navy Seal, he knows his way around weapons!!
I saw a video of a cop that was chasing a guy and he pulled out a .25 and tried to shoot the cop but the cop got him first.. 25 auto struck me as a really odd weapon for a hangbanger to have in the 21st century
I spent almost an entire day watching MrBallen’s videos because usually, when I go do something else; I will either forget about what I wanted to watch or I won’t want to watch them anymore, so to really watch them, or not waste time because I left the idea of watching them, I ended wasting more of time than I could have imagined. His videos are so entertaining, man. His way is explaining is very good, detailed, and precise. So detailed it’s fascinating.

Through an air duct I bet

Right!?
Yeah, I wondered about that, too. I guess there used to be a statute of limitations. I'm glad that law was changed!
I think it was manslaughter. Otto was pointing the guns at him because he was afraid he would hurt dolly. Then he charged Otto. Or so they claim.
I was told there is no statute of limitations on murder
There's no statute on "murder", but there is on "manslaughter", so I guess it has to be 1st degree murder, or something like that.
I literally just got into this series and then he uploads this the next day. Mr ballen is literally a legend
“After my husband got killed in a break in I thought it was silly to keep those guns around to protect myself”
Definitely could have come up with a better excuse for getting rid of those pistols.
Im kinda surprised that the police didnt think of a possible accomplice to the murder. It would explain her being locked in from the outside and her claiming to hear someone downstairs and not seeing anything
Yes, that was a weakness in the story, I think.
They did, but they couldn't find a connection because the accomplice was completely unknown to anyone since he'd been living in the attic secretly.
Ahh that makes sense
Yeah, why didn't they search the attic? Just like when Jon Benet Ramsey "went missing," the police failed to search the basement, where her body would later be found. Smh

By far my favorite line ever “strange, dark, and mysterious delivered in story format”
Can i find anything about this online? What museum i wanna see pictures
That's really, really cool!!!!
Wow...what a find!
Yessss I'm glad you kept the sword and pistols. I would've done the same.

.25 ACP was a very popular round in 1922 for both defense/offence on the civilian market. It wouldn't be at all unusual to see this used at the time.
Good to know, it’s a weird caliber.
I saw a video of a cop that was chasing a guy and he pulled out a .25 and tried to shoot the cop but the cop got him first.. 25 auto struck me as a really odd weapon for a hangbanger to have in the 21st century
