This reminds me of a locked room murder case in Korea back in 2010.
The apartment (as where most Koreans live) was a new one, only about a year old and the security is pretty high even today's standard.
You can only entre with a PIN or a door access card to even get inside the buildings and their staircases + the elevator. The front door access of the buildings would have cameras that takes picture of everyone who swipe their card or entre their PIN.
The entire complex was covered with CCTV cameras and everyone's front doors were locked with these digital locks as well as conventional locks.
And then there was a murder in one of the floors. The weapon was a kitchen knife belong to the house owner (Mrs. Lee, 69 yo). Her huband, Mr. Park, was out on that day and came back home at 11pm. He had his alibi and it matched with CCTV footage and testimonies from his friends. The GPS record of his phone matched too.
He left the house at around 7am and Mrs Lee had a phone call at around 8am.
So she was alive after her husband has left the house.
The police was trying to figure out how they've entred the building in the first place. They've checked all CCTV footages.
The investigators checked the home's security system to see if anyone has pressed the doorbell (in which the camera in front of the house takes a photo of the visitor) but no one has pressed the doorbell and there weren't any photo taken. They checked the system log to see if anyone tried to hack into the system but there was nothing.
No doors or windows were open. So the investigators thought the murderer was an acquaintance of the victim but they couldn't find anything.
The body had multiple defense marks which led the investigators to think that the murderer is most likely to be an old person or a woman. Someone with weak physical strength.
There were cameras that faced both the staircase and the elevator but nothing out of ordinary was found.
They've checked everyone who lived in that particular apartment building and checked where they went, trying to put the puzzle together, but they couldn't find the murderer.
Some of the Korean internet broadcasters tried to see if they can go inside the building without being captured by CCTV cameras but they soon found out that it's impossible.
To this date, no one knows who murdered Mrs. Lee.
The investigators cannot find out how the perpetrator entred of exited from the apartment unit and from the building.
If you type 'Textbook Locked-Room Mystery from South Korea - Namyangju Locked-room Murder(2010)' on Google, you can find a reddit link to this story.

I wonder if Mrs. Lee killed herself. In 1979, I was in the 12th grade, and our school hosted field trips to different placed, to give us ideas of what job/profession might interest us. One of the places was a courthouse, and in a small room, a policeman gave us a talk. He was telling us different stories of how they were able to solve different murders, using a relatively new medium of detective work. Forensic Science. And there was one case where a woman murdered herself with a knife in such a way as to frame her husband (who was having an affair, and planing on leaving her) for the knife attack that caused her death. How she did it was she took a kitchen knife, that only had her husbands fingerprints on it, and placed it in the space between the kitchen door and the door frame. She placed it high enough, so that when she threw herself backwards onto the knife, the stab wound was in a place and angle that would have been impossible for it to be self inflected. Whether or not she meant to cause her own death, or if she just wanted to inflect enough harm to cause her husband to go to prison for a long, long time, the policeman wasn't sure. And she would have gotten away with framing her unfaithful husband, if it wasn't for two slight, little imprints on either side of the door jam, that lined up the the height of her stab wound and the shape of the knife handle. So I'm wondering if Mrs. Lee could have done something similar. Just a thought.

When we were doing renos we ripped up the ugly ass carpet and found a trapdoor. Of course like normal teens enlisted in their parents desire to do things with their house we wanted to check it out. So we used a hammer to move the deadbolt since it was practically fused with rust (we actually ended up accidently just wacking everything right off. Turns out the bolt wasn't the only thing rusty) Anyway, when we dropped down it was like a garage sized room but barely 5ft high. We later found out through the museum peoples who study stuff and through records that the place had been an illigal brothel/bar and not the good kind either. Hence the deadbolt. And that the museum already had records of the place they just didn't know which of the houses in our area was the one being referred to in their journals and notes and stuff at the time. We also learned it had been used to hide people who were fleeing various situations at various times. I guess it explains why there was so many damn alcohol bottles hidden behind wall panels. We even found a really old set of pistols. Like really old. But still in good condition at least in appearance. I certainly wouldn't want to try firing them as they might blow up in my hand given the time period and time passed. That's assuming I could figure out how to load the damn things and make it fire. Found a handful of knives, of the eating variety not the skewering kind, and a flashy sword. Couple of books and papers and newspapers were used for insulation. Apparently the museum wanted most of that stuff so we let em have it...except the sword and the pistols.

@@jsyoukr1 as far as I know the museum never did any display thing they just looked through shit and added it to the "stuffs that happened in this time period" and cross-referenced with other stuff to get accurate stuffs. But about 1 in every 4 houses on our street were built pre building laws (mine isn't even attached to its foundation for instance. One big earthquake and we're fucked) back when the properties were bigger. Then they divided it all into smaller parcels of land just kept the older buildings. But oh god was that carpet ugly. Picture a mix of puke yellow shag carpet of the kind you loose you're entire foot in not just your toes and the wall panels were fake velvet orange and black. All this over the original wood paneling and the cement(?) Quarry stone(?) Floor. I don't know what the floor originally looked like as it was probably ripped up to make way for the ugly carpet. But it's so weird to see actual wood paneling without the whole machine cutting so everything is the same size or the fake wood laminate stuff. But it was the Victoria BC museum I contacted but I ended up sending the stuff somewhere in Vancouver I think if I remember right.
