There’s also a lesson here for employers. NO employee, especially a young girl, should be left alone at your shop, and again, especially at night. I worked at a small garden center for years, and the owner insisted that at least two or more employees worked the shift and closed together. If a second employee was not available, he worked the shift himself with the other person. And no one, male or female, was allowed to walk to their car alone.

My wife used to be a manager at Home Depot. While they did exactly what you describe during nightly closings, there was another side I really didn't like. If the alarm went off, they would call one of the managers to go check it out. This happened twice to my wife during her time with Home Depot. Both times I went with her despite my having to work in the morning. If I hadn't gone, she would've been alone checking on the alarm. Luckily, both times this happened it was a malfunction with the alarm system, but I cringe to imagine what could have happened.

You're 100% right. & many times the kidnapper gets frightened when the victim screams, yells for help & runs in public & therfore will take off. But yeah, NEVER cooperate with being kidnapped, much better to be shot or killed right then & there, then the long dragged out torturous fate that awaits most victims.

I worked at a bar and grill and was closing 3 times a week alone. It was scary in general, but then I had a wake up call closing. I found myself alone with only the bar lights on with an intoxicated male patron who didn't want to be cut off and was also way too interested😢. He was also bringing up his interests in weapons and such. Its hard to describe but there was all sorts of red flags about the guy, what he said and his mannerisms, in addition to being alone which he was also very aware of, and I felt like... prey. I was nervously moving things around looking like im working and I sent a quick sneaky text that I had a SOS situation to a coworker who lived on the same road and thankfully they came right away and got the guy out of there. He may have not had a bad bone in his body, but I listened to the hair raising feeling that it was not a good situation. I told the owner the next day no more of that and he was pretty annoyed with me that I wouldn't close alone anymore and wasn't able to handle the situation.

      @HumanPerson_final 3 роки тому +278

This is pretty unfair. It's just a practical thing to worry about. Over 30% of retail theft is employee shrink. If you have a store where employees are left alone with *your* money for long periods of time, it is foolish to not have a camera present to keep an eye on your money and store. As we saw with this video, pointing a camera at the cash box can help (in theory) if the store gets robbed. They evidently had a camera facing the parking lot outside the coffee shop, as they could see this monster load her into a white pickup truck.
Plus, from how the story was explained here, unless it was just a coincidental timing, it sounds like the owner didn't even immediately report the robbery. It wasn't until police called the store owner that the owner reported their employee vanished and the money was gone. The logical assumption the store owner would have is the employee robbed them before quitting the job and running.

Also, I would suggest that any female who is left in the unfortunate situation where they might have to be alone closing a store or just alone anywhere, should at the very least consider learning self-defense tactics...though personally I know that for me at least, the women close to me in my life will be armed and capable defending themselves. Better to take the chance at pissing off your employer--one who is allowing you to be in a dangerous situation to begin with--by being legally armed than the alternative if you find yourself alone with a man or several men. *Always be aware of your surroundings and if you are going to be alone or are concerned that you might be in a dangerous area, let someone else know where you are going.*

      - Killer Whales will sometimes just kill for sport
      - Clown fish will change their sex and mate with their son if the situation arises
      - Found this online "In Tasmanian Devil mating season, the male has to beat the female into submission. If he fails, the female beats the male up"
      - Tiger sharks eat each other in the womb

@@angelfinley6244it regards to the camera quality.... tbh it's EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE to run HD, just 720-1080p security cameras and storage for say just 1 week, let alone more. It's a tough cost for small businesses (but even some big companies do this, which is a shame), and especially for low crime areas. I'm not sure of Anchorages crime rates, but I'm guessing it's not insane, but who knows...that winter environment is rough on people. I suggest more and better placement for those small businesses just trying to make it.
LEO have pretty sophisticated technology to be able upscale the quality(Hollywood grade to above Hollywood grade tech...and some of the greatest at doing this kind of stuff), then also a lot of other evidence of similar cases across the country to create a trail.. to still get a match if some of the face is shown...if his face was so covered up, not much anyone can do except use info from this catch, run it through advanced national databases at the FBI to find similar cases as a lot of serial killers do things one way over another...a little thing such as telling if the guy is left handed can eliminate millions of suspects...then maybe his/her tying/roping technique could trim it to thousands and so on. They also have extremely talented people who can cut the list down shorter to maybe hundreds, then other processes from there.
It's a long process unfortunately, but it's either low unemployment/small businesses/etc.. and higher suicide rates, more crime, etc from low unemployment. It's a trade off.
Large enterprises should have higher standards, but MOST serial killer have thought their methods through so even the best security cameras resolution can be nulled by just putting on a Hoodia, a hate pushed down low, keeping head down, and add in the fact the people who do this know where the cameras are unless hidden well, means they can be identifiable even with say 1080p to higher resolutions.
a lot of these small businesses are REQUIRED by their insurance company to have these, so even though insurance companies are trashy a lot, they really put in good measures using scientific data and actuarial science for their security to get business insurance policies (becausethey really do want to keep people safe because if not then they are dulling out large sums to incidents like these to the small business, which is bad for insurance companies. They have minimum requirements, so most businesses go with limited just because the cost of running a business is high itself...otherwise, we'd look worse than the coronavirus shutdown where stores are closing left and right duets high overhead...leading to more unemployment, gdp, suicides, mental health (which can lead to being a guy like keyes), etc...

So if they don’t want you to know the full story, it’s for a sophisticated reason which is meant to serve their own interests. Not because they don’t want you to wet your bed at night...they could care less.

Then I got roughly five seconds into it and I was thinking okay, this is worth watching because he tells stories way better than these other people lol. It’s obviously the charm and absolute talent he has at telling stories but also he uses a vernacular that is unparalleled. My husband and I binge every night after our two year old FINALLY falls asleep lol. Thank you for the temporary relief to just close our eyes and picture the story on your podcast or watch a UA-cam video because we love the sound effects and hand gestures. You deserve your success!

my middle school's principal actually almost got murdered by Israel Keys. He was driving on a highway in the midwest with 3 college students when their van broke down. They flagged down cars until they eventually got picked up by Keys. He said Keys was a very regular and well spoken man, and made him feel comfortable until they were taking turns that didn't seem like they were being led in the right direction. He took them to a rural dead end before stopping, hesitating, turning around and continuing the drive. They got dropped off and he thought nothing of it until he recognized Key's face in the news headlines. Man really did it when he felt like it, morbid shit.

Awful thing was not only did Keyes terrify Anchorage and the surrounding area, he wasn’t the only serial killer we had that year. ( I live in the area).

That’s the creepiest thing of all, also, they’re probably that sick they look for stuff like this on UA-cam, and therefore at least one person watching this is a serial killer. Arrrggggghh, people are so messed up!

My dad use to tell me the same thing, he would add, and " leave DNA everywhere and anyway possible, spit, pull your hair out and make sure it gets in the vents and seams of everything, scratch yourself enough to make any skin flakes loose enough to slough off onto the car, " he said " Hell, wipe your snot and boogers on and under the seats. Anyway possible to prove you have been in there house , car, etc. And make sure you fight - don't worry about anything but you getting free and leaving evidence to put that bastard in prison. .Scratch the Hell out of him, digging there skin making sure to have there DNA on you, and under your nails. Not always that easy, often they don't get the opportunity, especially children who are easily overpowered by a large adult, but, I totally agree in theory.
If you just leave a mark/ cut /scrape etc on their hands or face, a visible sign of struggle, it leaves some evidence that might get noticed by a trained eye. Go into friggin' berserker/ Tasmanian devil mode and yell, scream, bite, kick, scratch, slap, punch, anything you can manage, you are literally fighting for your life, giv'em everything you've got, you could get lucky. I've read of plenty of kids that did fight back and made it out alive. 👍
