Dave, your knowledge just blows me away. I don't buy slabbed books but I still find all of this fascinating and informative. Learning the fine art of cleaning and pressing a book interests me. Mylites 2 make any book look so much better. And, you can't do much better than Full Backs for your comics. I am so glad I found your channel. Keep up the great work.
Thank you Erik! We do talk about a lot more than professionally grading books. That's an element of collecting, but not really the point. It's all about the book(s).
Those Neal Adams covers are sleepers and love the overview of the private collector market because those sales could be driving the prices of some of these books without any tracking.
I don’t believe they are spec books. The books Dave is talking about are very high grade (9.6 and 9.8’s). In lower grades they books are plentiful and not particularly in high demand. In these high grades they are considered rare and are highly collectible and valuable. If you’re books get graded in 9.4 or above, they are valuable. 👍
Great work keep it up. What awesome Chemistry you both have. Your looking like your dad more and more I watch. Definitely know yall are Father and daughter. Hope your boyfriend likes comics. Because if he doesn't your Dad is Never going to approve.
Thanks for showing part of your CPR process. I currently hit each tick separately but will try the entire spine approach on a test book soon.. I think it could be more gentle on certain books. Keep up the great work! 👏
I really appreciate yall doing videos like this. For someone like me who just collected and never sold it would come in handy if I ever decided to sell some stuff. Thanks again.
I always look forward to your videos. Maybe you could show off your Fantastic Four collection in one of you videos (I collect FF also, so I'd love to see what you have).
Possibly the owner didn't try to push the price on the second Hulk, that does happen. Interesting on your bidding thoughts. You stick to your guns on the exterior look of the book. Cool.
I utilize both GPAnalysis and CoverPrice for general tracking of sales and as a valuation tool. Although I do not believe either is the end all be all I think they are both useful tools in keeping you aware of market changes.
I was so excited to hear of your quest to complete an Fantastic Four run as I have just started last month something similar trying to put together a run of books in at least 9.4 of FF from 100 to 400 and with the way prices have been I may go as far down to the teens as I can from 100 down in 4.5 to 8.5 condition good luck on your FF hunt 😀
One thing that happens as you get older, I'm 70, is that more and more people you see for the first time remind you of someone else. Dave, at certain angles you reminded me of comedian David Brenner, who was Johnny Carson's favorite comedian. I think it has something to do with the smile.
@@futurepastvintagecollectables Speaking of large mouths, as a baby I didn't suck on my thumb, I rammed all 4 fingers in my mouth. I looked like I was playing the pan flute. I remember sometimes I'd fit the thumb too. You also reminded me of a teen that went to my church back in the '60s. Your daughter Rachael reminds me of someone I worked with back in the mid 70s. She worked in the department next to mine but I didn't know her that well.
You have the best comic channel hands down. We like the exact same stuff. You’re about loving books and having fun and not up selling and being dramatic to sell books. I just get BCW bags and boards. Are the ones you get better? I understand Mylar and millimeters and so on. I just don’t know much about the brand you got.
They are the best on the market. I don't feel they are necessary for all books, but if you want a book to present the best, use these. I use BCW boards as well, but not the bags.
On those Hulk Annual 9.8's, only real difference I can see is the 9.8 on the label is off-center on the lower sale copy. Not sure if that would justify that kind of a gap, but it's definitely something you might notice if you're dropping that much money.
Your honest take on the market and the reasoning you explain is so refreshing. Love your vids. I just started pressing/cleaning and every tip helps. Thanks!
@@futurepastvintagecollectables thank you for replying. I see you're in the state of Washington, I'm not that far from you, I'm in Kamloops British Columbia Canada. I always wondered if the pressing of golden age comics were different than from other eras. Thank you
Thanks Brad! Got to give RTJ some love! The last time that I saw them was at a block party in Seattle right before the pandemic. I noticed that I was by far the oldest person there. Very strange feeling indeed, because I am actually a big fan of theirs.
I paused the video when you started talking about UNEXPECTED #124 to write this. Never been on COMIC LINK was watching a video with Danny saying a comic was available on Comic Link now. Went to the site not for that book, just to look around. Because of your videos I came across that #124 and thought that is awesome signed up and put a few bids, unfortunately lack of funds I could only go to $300 and knew that would be short curious what it finally went for. Maybe one day I will get it in a 9.4. Let's see what happens!
I always enjoy your videos. I watch a ton of comic related UA-cam channels, and the kinds of things you talk about are almost never discussed elsewhere. In the two years I’ve been really digging into collecting, and watching videos and learning, I’ve never even heard of a CVA sticker. Love the channel, keep it up guys!
Same here. No one ever talks about the CVA, so that is interesting. And it’s refreshing to hear discussion about more uncommon books. I think this idea of a Secret Comic Market Exploding is cool because that’s collecting focused.
RUN THE JEWELS!!👉🤛 Tracing bids. I didn't know that was a thing but I've been doing it lately. If there's no other easy way to follow the sale, it makes perfect sense.
Nice video. With all the talk of a comic book “correction”, early high grade DC Bronze might be the best value on the market right now, especially considering their scarcity. Those Neal Adams covers (although technically Silver Age) seem to be a better investment than specs on modern books.
Love this video! Thanks for sharing your bids and comparing your bids to the final sale. I also appreciate you pointing out that GPA does not include all sales. I use online price guides to show comic values on my channel, and it's important to inform viewers that not every sale is tracked. Thank you!
I have to say, that book is nearly impossible in a 9.4, especially with white pages! I don't think I could replace it ( I think there are four 9.4's and one 9.6 on the CGC census). I do appreciate you noticing it; most people don't know what it is or how scarce it is in grade.
I’m an aficionado of Neal Adams’ artwork and his DC covers have been the focus of my personal collection for the past several years. While everyone else seems to be chasing Marvel keys, I’m headed in the opposite direction. However, I don’t buy graded and slabbed books but rather look for mid to high grade raw copies. The HoM and HoS books are extremely hard to find in those higher grades. Most copies I find in the wild are low grade or readers copies. Awesome video though. Great presentation and very informative.
You guys are great, loving seeing a father and daughter bond over an awesome hobby!
Thanks for showing us all the different behind the scenes.
I enjoyed the pressing a lot. Thank you are doing that and great show.
Great Video! Love the auction talk....
Thanks for showing us your press process.
I love the uniqueness of your channel and your interactions with each other.
I value your knowledge alot. I love your elaboration also for each topic.
Very cool information specially in how to cure the book to make it more impressive.
Great info on pressing and cleaning. Thanks!
Love hearing the behind the curtain details of your purchases. Very educating to me. Thank you 🤙🏻
That Hulk Annual is AMAZING. Wouldn't mind a CVA of that one.
I enjoyed the format here. Thanks for sharing
e gerber makes the best bags and boards!
That superfriends book is dope! I loved watching the wonder twins in the cartoon! Wonder twin powers activate!
Awesome video. Love the pressing clips.
I never looked at House of Mystery that way before. Thanks for the deep dive.
Best comic content on UA-cam right now… Keep up the great work!!
Thank you!
Interesting video. Great to see a father daughter team.
Thanks for the walkthrough on the clean and press, very interesting to see how it works!
Thanks for the press and clean video. Pretty interesting.

Nice to see behind the scenes clean & press process. 36 hours says a lot about maybe why others mention books are reverting back afterwards.
great video! Your video footage about how you press your books was really good!
Great subject for a video!
I really like your videos. I learn a lot from them.
Awesome show as always
Love y’alls videos Don’t follow many comic channels wish I could find more like this one
Great content guys! Love the bit about pressing
Keep up the good work
Why haven’t I seen this channel before! Definitely subbed up, keep this content the way it is love it!

Very informative video, Thanks!
great video! so much info. So glad i found your channel a few weeks ago!
Awesome! Thank you!
Another great video! keep them coming!
I had no idea that D C 70s horror titles I've had in storage for decades are now rare spec comics.
Nice Weird War issue. I was tracking that one as well on the C-Link auction.
Great video, love the insight, thanks!
HOLY COW MYLITES AND BOARDS THAT IS LIKE A BAR OF GOLD NOW A DAYS TOUGH TO GET
Love it!!
Great work keep it up. What awesome Chemistry you both have. Your looking like your dad more and more I watch. Definitely know yall are Father and daughter. Hope your boyfriend likes comics. Because if he doesn't your Dad is Never going to approve.
Illuminating! I don't use GPA much...now I have better reasons why.
Glad I found your channel. Great content
Great video guys. Man you made that book look nice after that clean and press 👍
Yall have a treasure
Great horror books!
It's a fun video. I'm not a slabber but still found this entertaining.
Concentrating more on golden age now
Thanks for your channel. Would love to see your top 50 books. 👏
Thanks for the idea!

Essentially, yes. Each era has unique features that need to be understood, but the mechanics and products are close.

I bought hulk annual for $35.00 Canadian few years ago had c g c 7.5. Not pressed or anything.
I had to drop a like on this video just for both of your kick ass shirts! 👍
CVA sounds a lot like sub grades for trading cards. If that is the case, it’s an interesting development in comic collecting.
