I am so glad living in the era of Hikaru and Magnus...BEST RIVALRY
So much this
it was a rollercoaster match... just when you thought naka would run away with it, he made a ton of blunders, then missed Ra2+ which would tie the match and force tiebreaks... i was shocked he missed it. he quickly realized it after and he laughed at himself for throwing away the win.
It really is Bird vs. Jordan.
Naka the samurai
I don’t think it’s a rivalry Magnus is better. Hikaru has to beat the Magnus effect first before he beats Magnus himself
Gotta admire hikaru's work ethic, match's been over for less than 2 hours and the video is already out
Cash is a big motivator. Would do the same in his shoes.
Video Should have been published 29 minutes after the match was over
Yes it's great when a winner is a great loser.
@@hrvat7770true, but even with the monetary reward the video surely brings, it's a very respectable effort. He is just done playing a very tough match, which takes a big toll on you phisically, and on top of that he lost, which must be pretty taxing mentally. Yet here he is
Was gonna say the exact same thing!
Even though I was rooting for Magnus there is no denying the fact that Hikaru is an absolute beast. He is just phenomenal.
Hikaru is a monster.
So easy to root for Magnus, duh. I do enjoy seeing Magnus humbled. And, Hikaru is awesome.
@@rickbedard7471 Definitely 😎
@@eagle-eye29 Please don't disrespect Hikaru by saying it is easy to root for Magnus when he is playing against him because that won't be true.
@@eagle-eye29easy for màgnus wdym😂
the good sportsmanship by Hikaru to lose a very close game where anyone could have one, and then after 2 hours put a video out about how much he enjoyed it and where he went wrong. The sheer sportsmanship is unbelievable, good job
Well said, I was thinking the exact same thing. Win or lose Hikaru demonstrates amazing sportsmanship.
@@BrianDoylePDXyeah. He used to be less likes me but now he’s probably my favorite player, along with rapport
Every game in bullet is double sided 1 minute no one can play perfect especially when two top bullet players play
Sportsmanship?yea sportsmanship was very clear when he milked the clock two three times when he was up by 2 points..for 2 3 minutes infact..if he had don't done that then he would be got probably one or two more matches by the end when he started loosing..magnus never did this he accepted the draw as soon as possible when he was in lead..magnus has true sportsmanship and also he is best..BASICALLY HE FACED KARMA
@@siddhartham1973
I don't see what's the issue with that.
I'd argue trying to run the clock in a drawn postion is better since it's more decisive.
Imo one-off the issues with chess at the high level is it's indecisive.
However it seems perhaps it was a strategic mistake on Hikaru's end, if it indeed lost him the match (but then, in that case it would be a strategic mistake for magnus to accept the draw).
It feels like the Magnus-Hikaru rivalry, no matter the format, is the real world championship outside of FIDE. It feels like your watching the NBA Finals, World Series, World Cup, etc. And I never thought I'd be interested in chess, yet here I am in 2023 watching every Hikaru and Magnus video out there trying to make my way back to a 2000 blitz rating!
@AdamBradshaw Magnus would beat Hikaru worse than Nepo with prep in a classical format. Ding and Nepo would both crush Hikaru as well in classical.
But there IS no rivalry in classic (the real chess) chess, where Magnus dominates
Hikaru is only this good a blitz bullet
The only rivalry between them is online blitz/bullet, in over the board chess magnus stomps on hikaru
Hikaru is a bum, Magnus is the goat.
An amazing match. Hikaru and Magnus are so far ahead of the field when it comes to speed chess, it's incredible. It's reminiscent of the Karpov-Kasparov days of the 80s and early 90s, except this is much better, because those battles were fought in classical games before the internet, whereas now these battles are happening in blitz and bullet online where hundreds of thousands of people can follow these two titans battle it out live. Short time controls are definitely the future of the sport!
Completely agree. I dont know why every1 thinks classical is the skillful format when all u need there is a little bit of memory whereas here u need to think fast otherwise u lose
People have significantly shorter attention span than they used to. A focus on shorter time controls seems to be the logical next step for Chess promoters. Games become less about memorization and time-consuming brute force calculation, and more about tactical prowess and time management. I enjoy all of these elements but I can't deny that shorter time controls are more enjoyable to watch for most people
@@Bezpolezniqhow many classical tournaments have you played. Of course you have to memorize certain ideas, patterns, themes. Memory is a major part of intelligence and the best mindgame players also happen to have the best memories.
@@mwangikimani3970 fuck u mean mindgame players lol of course u have to remember lines but that requires no skill whatsoever + u dont even improve that way whereas with faster time not only do u use the same play style as in classical (pattern memorization) but u also need quick thinking in order to win + aint nobody watching a 6 hour game and 11 more after that
@@Bezpolezniqbozo
Fantastic job Hikaru, you guys play other worldly chess at ungodly speeds, keep up the awesome work! 🍍
Yes, really😃👍thank you so much!
I could not have said it better myself, and I pride myself on saying things well
Amazing how you’re doing a recap right after this insane match!
He's the Boss
Bruh, it's money
He's Japanese
@HughesMath1 of being Magnuses bitch ?
He's American
Well played by both sides. Those last games gave me anxiety!
that ending was crazy. 3 straight blunders. Obviously there's blunders in speed chess but that ending with magnus then sacking two fucking rooks for mate in 5. Absolutely unreal.
So close. Amazing job to both of you competitors. You guys are simply goated. And of course, congrats to Magnus, Hikaru is no joke.
Hikaru is in another level. Just love his simplicity and sportsmanship even though he and Magnus are fierce rivals and Hikaru is really the only rival Magnus has. Have a lot of respect for Hikaru.
Hikaru, holy hell, you've uploaded a comprehensive analysis of your games
🍍 WHILE WEARING THE SAME SHIRT YOU PLAYED THEM IN 🍍
Gotta admire how quickly you come out with the content - pretty amazing stuff, and a finale for the ages to boot. 👏
"Shirt speaks for itself"
Best final ever. A nail biter! You both created and exploited beautiful chances. Danya and Aman's excited punctuations of those tense moments was thrilling.
Felt like Nadal-Federer Wimbledon in '09, but with the mercurial bullet time limits of those last few moves, and the sheer brilliance of the minds making them, the emotions swirled like a Cat 5 hurricane.
Great show. Thank you both (and to you Hikaru for your solid analysis and humble sportsmanship. Love you.)
Great showing Hikaru. Love seeing the battle between two TITANS. So much more exciting than classical.
GG to both! Always amazing stuff when you two are battling!
That win in a drawn game with bishop and rook was nothing but astonishing. I doubt anyone has ever considered this to be possible against Magnus
Hikaru the only guy who even scored double digits against Magnus. It's amazing how these two kick everyone else to the curb with ease, and then always have a nail-biting super-close match which could go either way. Looking forward to next year!
Astounding, intense games!
Great battle, Champ!
great match Hikaru, your maturity and class speaks levels to your integrity as a super gm and as a competitor. Even though either of you would dominate without the other one around, both of you drive each other to such incredible heights. in a lot of ways, y'all need each other to keep driving the bar higher. much love and great performance
Amazing game! I’m always ready for amazing things when you two are playing together
This was the battle of titans we were all waiting for. You are definitely in another peak of your career and playing your best chess ever.
My first ever comment on UA-cam!
I can't believe how impartial he is, how much he compliments his opponent! True gentlemen!!!
Congrats on a great tournament you were #2 of the whole world!!!
That queen sac on g3 made magnus nod appreciatively ! loved the match
I love these two players mainly because their matches are so entertaining to watch, both are playing aggressively and are trying to smash their opponent before they got smashed by them. When they are against each other, you can just see, how fast both are, how unpredictible movement they make and also how far they can think and imagine their next moves + they respect each other on the highest lvl... 11/10 fun, hope I see you more playing against each other.
Hikaru’s mind is a 100 miles a minute. Somehow watching him has gotten me up over 1500 which is as high as it gets for me. The thing about chess is Hikaru was just one move away from winning the entire match vs likely the best chess player in the entire history of the great game (Magnus).
A fantastic accomplishment by Hikaru plus he is strong enough to take a loss while keeping a level head for himself which is also a very fine example for all the rest of us.
Nothing, but respect for you two! What a great show you gave us today! Honestly a sad ending, as this match deserved more games, but I know it will be even more interesting next year - you guys are just too far ahead of the field!
It deserves more games..but what can we our respectable hikaru Nakamura wanted to milk the clock when he was winning..two three times .thanks to magnus for not going down this lane when he was up by points in bullet.mhe accepted draws asap to start next match
@@siddhartham1973 Nothing wrong with what Hikaru chose to do. It's part of the game and for Magnus - I am pretty sure that he just enjoys these battles, as they are one of the very fews which actually challenge his abilities, so that's why he doesn't even care about doing anything strategically than outplaying in games...
@@user-yv9zn3gd7wexactly. Pretty much why he resigned his classical title. I think. This kind of chess is where he's really having fun. And same for Hikaru. If you were watching live they were generally laughing or had a smile on their face once they realized they blundered. Way more entertaining than even the world chess championship match
At 13:40 Hikaru finds a move even the computer couldn't see truly an amazing player
Well done Hikaru, maybe it was not one of your days, but surely you gave it a good fight. So on that note, it was really a privilege to watch both of you play.
Your commitment to your craft is admirable and inspiring.
I think almost nobody on earth could suffer such a close defeat on the highest stage and walk away all smiles.
Thank you for your inspirational attitude both on the battlefield and off.
Magnus may have the memory but Hikaru has the speed
You are fun to watch, I appreciate these recaps. I'm impressed how well you do these, considering you participated!
BRO PLAYED FOR 6 HRS THEN STARTED TO ANALYSE FOR UA-cam.WHAT A GUY🤣🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏👏
What a match! Hope to see more Hikaru-Magnus matchups in the future.
"Magnus wins his 3rd speed chess championship. Unfortunately I'm still stuck on 5." 😂😂😂 okaaay Hikaru with the subtle roast
Wow. It's crazy to think that there is no one that can compete against Mangus or Hikaru across these formats except themselves. Congrats to Magnus for the victory and congrats to Hikaru for proving once again that you are top tier
What a match! Ggs
Ya gotta love the dedication involved in putting up these recaps so fast.
A haiku for you, Hikaru Nakamura....simply amazing!
You played great Hikaru. Hope you come back and reclaim the title next time. I’m rooting for you!
Very intense and fun match! Both of u guys played phenominal and very entertaining
awesome match, well played! great fun to watch.
Hikaru is an absolute legend ! Lost the SSC final against his greatest rival , but still had a smile on face . Truly an absolute legend 😊
It was a lot of fun to watch the match. The most exciting match-up in speed chess in history. Hikaru laughing and smiling at the end said it all. There can have a post pandemic rivalry but they are truly good sports win or lose.
Fantastic to see the best two speedchess players ever fight it out. Thanks for the video and well played. Hope we can see you guys fight it out again soon. Chess is always the winner when these two titans play!
Shirt speak for itself!
Thanks to both for the great amd exciting matches, what a rollercoaster. looking forward for next edition.
Crazy to see the respect these two have for one another
Fue una final muy entretenida, la disfruté, buen juego Hikaru.
Thanks for the fast review. Amazing final. The last game was way too fast for me and I didn't understand what's going on. Now I understand, thanks! That double rook sacrifice was really smart.
I think they should just skip having all of these contesters in the tournaments that these two play in. Just let Magnus and Hikaru battle for the gold straight away and save some time 😂
What a final! Soooo close. You two are absolutely the best right no question
Its was a privilege to watch such a battle of the minds of these men, absolutely stunning stuff throughout, and their interviews right after was classy, Top men, absolute maestro's of the squares.. amazing
I know the man is hurting inside but damn I respect Hikaru so much. Will always be a supporter good times and bad
Ure the champion in my eyes hikaru ❤️
Congrats on a great tourney. Amazing journey to get to a point where you and Magnus both didn’t play your best but it was essentially even. Would love to see a match where you are both at your best, truly believe it would be epic.
Amazing performance Hikaru! I was rooting for you and it was soo close... Regardless of the result, those were super entertaining games and I think we viewers are the real winners here.
Amazing match - so close, as expected when these two great champions play!
A great battle! It could have gone either way.
Thank you for pumping the content out so quickly! Amazing work ethic❤
It was a trilling match u made us so tense... Great match by the Two Goats of all time. Thank you Hikaru for ur time doing recap as always I enjoyed watching n learning again. 😊
This was an epic live stream
Well Played, soooo epic... can't wait til next year :)
Amazing final, huge quality of games as always with the two best ever in this format, it could surely had gone either way, thanks Hikaru for your dedication
I watched the whole thing and you guys were both brilliant!!!!!
Watching you guys play today was simply immense. Never a dull moment, and always going at eachother. Two gladiators of blitz chess battling it out, and such an even matchup throughout. Why can't we have these matches every other month or so?
Phenomenal play Hikaru, what an absolute nail biter or a match! And what class by both of you afterwards, was a delight to see. Next year itll be 6 time champ!
That final was very great, exciting and very even.
Such an amazing time where we get to watch this rivalry evolve over the years with both sides perspective. You and Magnus are the best!
Great match, games, and tournament!
Well done Naka !! Exciting game, that's more important than the result. Always enjoy the journey (match) and not the destination (result )
This was a very worthy final! Two of the best showing they are a class above the rest right now.
Hey Hikaru! I don't follow all my favorite sports team all the time, but since I started watching you I follow all your matches religiously. I was very eager to watch the final - I even planned my week around it! - and it didn't disappoint! I would have loved to see you win, and it definitely felt like you could have. You and Magnus are just on another level. Kudos, keep it up
Naka & MC always a massive event and a treat! 😀
Was working but I wasn’t going to miss greatness. Truly inspiring and amazing to watch these two compete.
Great fight Hikaru! That was the best 5 hour stream of my life
lol I love how you separate yourself from yourself when you do these. Congrats another big run and amazing match
Two amazing players. Thank you for the entertainment.
Just glad it was a super exciting match. What a match!!
Bro is more excited about youtube recap than the match itself
I was able to watch some of this live. Awesome match. It was a nail biter right to the end.
Bravo Hikaru, very good fight to the end
"Magnus wins his 3rd time speed chess championship title. Unfortunately I am still stuck on 5"
-Hikaru-
😂😂😂
This could of gone either way. Hikaru has nothing to feel bad about , he gave it his best shot. Looking forward to more epic games between these great GM's!
thanks for not spoiling the result in the title. fantastic coverage and great play!
Well played by both sides. Those last games gave me anxiety!. Amazing how you’re doing a recap right after this insane match!.
The best part of the match was the big smiles at the end. What a battle, that was fun to watch! Epic Hikaru-Magnus faceoff.
Watched the match live and almost every game could have gone any other way. Very exciting and brilliant games. These two are definitely on their own league in speed chess. And you can see they both have massive respect on each other. Can’t wait for next year!
Man what a battle had that nba playoff game 7 vibe to it came right down to the wire.
Well played. You showed a lot of class after this tough loss.
I watched this live, it was very exciting , Congrats both hope to see more of you.
Amazing game!!! Congrats to both!!
The commentators were spot on as well!!
Mad respect for this video ! Gg's 👏
I watched it all, Magnus and Hikaru always bring great battles
great match and content of course. Looks like you have fun playing him, which is nice to see as a spectator!
So much hype for the SCC and Hikaru and Magnus gave us the match we all wanted to see. It was neck and neck and came down to the wire, literally a few more seconds on the match clock it would gone the distance. Congrats to both Magnus and Hikaru!
watched it live and it was the best match ever. forget classical chess this is the future
Can't wait for the next SCC, love this format and the Hikaru-Magnus finals. Good luck next year Hikaru. ❤
Keep it up bro! Nice games!!
The second game with pawn on h3 and queen sacrifice is very beautiful examample of top level chess game. Thanks for your hard work and this amazing match.
What an amazing match. Thx to both of you.
Amazing job 👏 it was indeed a battle!!
