I’ve fallen out of chess a little but I’m watching this whole video just to spite you
This magno guy is really good at chess, good for levi to show the underdogs in the tournament
His name is Markus
Mango Carton really carrying this channel lately
He should keep playing, maybe he will get to Im level one day
xd
I think his name is masnus calgen correct me if im wrong

I really appreciate this format in which you commentate and analyze a single, top-level game in great depth. I'd like to see you continue on with this style of entertaining, educational content. Much love Levy. ❤
Yes, this is great 🎉
For me this kind of content from Gotham stands head and shoulders above his other content. I would like to see a historic deepdive of Mikhail Tal games.
as a new player I like this and his 10ish min opener reviews@@selegg541
Tal's crazy way of playing and Levy's crazy commentary definitely goes hand in hand
Same. My favorite.
Why is GothamChess so good at his job? His content is so compelling.
Because he is knowledgeable of the game and has good storytelling aspects to make it more entertaining. Overall good effort put into the right places makes good content
Over 4M subscribers, meaning a likely revenue stream of close to $1M a year, and potentially up to $2M a year, will do that. Not hating just admiring. Maybe a little envy too.
He's pretty smart actually.
Damn, that much??@@raylopez99
@@raylopez99 what do you even mean by this? Subscribers don't give revenue, views, timespan, clicks, do. He's getting the views he's getting because he's a good entertainer who knows how to keep the audience engaged. He explains every move with the most clarity and makes everybody understand what many people would not.
Magnus Carlsen's intelligence, memory and pattern recognition skills are frightening...
He is truly brilliant !
Imagine if he choose the military over chess.
@@10011110011Magnus should try playing chess against America' Patriot Air Defense System, or maybe against an F35.

Just in time for October's Halloween! Boo.
Magnus has been and always will be the Chess 🐐

This magnet guy is indeed a goat
He's truly the chess.

Magnus is singlehandedly feeding Levy's family 💀☠️
Lol real
Wow. It is really kind for magnus to play all these matches and keep creating content for levi
I really like this type of videos in which you analyse one single game in a video and not just rushing through 3 or 4 games. On one hand side we get to watch Levy being Levy and on the other hand, idk if it's just me, I personally learn more with these detailed analysis videos. I remember when you kept releasing Ding vs. Nepo videos, my chess improved a lot and even today I learned a lot
Back in 2021 Magnus sacrificed his queen to get 3 pieces when playing against Anish Giri and coordinated them very well. Maybe he was worried his opponent here would be able to do the same and his queen wouldn’t be enough.
Guess there is some huge respect for the 18 year old
@@dns4060 Of course, he is amazing. And it takes a lot of guts to even play a Najdorf against Magnus.
Keyser is Germany best player and top 10 players Junior in the World BUT. MAGNUS IS MAGNUS and gave Him a lesson , Magnus lost to Him once and that s it !!!
I definitely prefer deeper looks into single games rather than a recap of a dense round. Gives more breathing room for story telling! The history of an event/players/positions, analysis of alternate moves, explanation of why exactly something is good/bad, etc!
Love these deep dives into 1 game. TY, I’d love for these to keep coming
Really love the single game deep dives. Hope you do more of these.
Pushing that a pawn far up to restrict and trap black's pieces is a theme I saw repeated a lot in alpha zero's games. So cool to see Magnus using the same idea to get the upper hand!
Loving the high-level deep dives!
The reasoning explained behind the moves has really opened my eyes up to me ways of reading three board
Its not a Levy video without the word Brilliant and the word Magnus
When Graham Bell invented telephone, he had two missed calls from Magnus...
Another well analyzed game with contagious enthusiasm. I know you can't please everyone but do more.
I would like a 100 year old Magnus agains 100 year old hikaru
Love your vids Gotham. Keep up the great work
One of your best videos in a while, keep it up. Love when people do what their channels were founded on and focus on appeasing their core audience rather than on what the masses like and what fads draw short term inconsistent views.
Lol when you said, "What if they knocked down your legos and just vanished so you couldn't even do anything to them?" I immediately thought of creepers in minecraft.
lmao, good one
Can always count on Levy to upload daily!
An excellent story teller and I think it goes unnoticed how natural these videos flow. Love the deep dives! But would love another Win at Chess!

Yeah this MAGNET guy is great lol
Nice of levy to shout out this mango guy
The video reminds me of the first ones you made, sir. Just one game, putting the key movements in context based on the time available, showing the long-term strategy of what you are looking for with the secondary opening lines. Truly a wonderful video, congratulations.
My bet is on 5M subs, before the northern spring equinox, just saying ;)

Truly a mango carlsen moment of all time
Magnet Curlyson is pretty good
What a beautiful game, and recap! This was not only one of his finest games, but easily one of your finest recaps too!
I'm starting to love these breakdowns. Not too long and well explained
These are my favorite kinds of recaps. Deep dive into one or two games as opposed to covering 5-7 games and most of the moves just going over my head because of the limited time there is to explain them thoroughly
@gothamchess I like when you give us an opportunity to solve the puzzle.. you should incorporate that more in your game evals
Honestly, just being alive during the same time as Magnus is an honor.
The move NxF5 is CRAZYYYY!!!! And it took only 5 mins for Magnus to calculate all that!!! WTF I would not even in 50years find that move... This is so CRAZYYYY
One thing is to understand the move but to find it in a game is crazy
The move is just Nf5, not Nxf5. There is nothing to take on that square. And that makes it even more impressive because captures are easier to calculate.
Nf5 is a thematic sacrifice in the Najdorf (and similar structures), so Magnus being aware of the possibility is unsurprising.
Calculating and evaluating the resulting positions is what makes him the best.
It is very easy
Of course a fish wouldn't find that move (that you don't even spell correctly). Why mention it?
The stare of the stares.
Levy fails to never Magnus put title
As a non-chess player, this is bamboozling (at first) and also completely fascinating.
Worth watching just to see your passion and knowledge for the game.
Even for someone who doesn't play chess, these deepdives are super interesting. Please do more!
I always wonder how you guys actually feel tho..
@@mghtutookhaung5449overwhelmed and amazed. also had to pause the vid to understand what's going on
@@mghtutookhaung5449 actually i never take a chess lesson..but i know how to play chess, opening, etc just bcz im watching video like this..
I'm more suprised someone would watch this entire thing and not play some chess at least for fun. Though I guess it's not that unusual many non pilots will watch a video on how to start a 737 or program the flight management computer but the vast majority ot them wilm at least fly in the sim. And a chess app is more accesible than being handed a 100 million dollar jet.
I really appreciate the removal of brightness change for hypothetical moves. Thank you so much.
Hate to harp on about the same thing on 5-6 separate videos, but that was the only blemish for what was otherwise absolutely perfect and interesting content for me. Thanks for the amazing content Levy!

Levy: Your brain stops working at 40 years old...
Me: I guess I am dead already.
Levi content farming Magnus is the reason he still plays and ill bet on it
How kind of Magnus to allow Levy to make some content
You are an amazing ambassador for chess. Take it from a random nobody who doesn't even play it. Despite this, you bring out an appreciation for this game that I didn't even know I had. 4m+ subcribers is only the beginning. Keep at it, you will bring chess to the world.
Its interesting the questions/pause the video moments you ask, 16:30 or f4.
I'm not a sicilian player, peaked 3/2 at 1700 now around 1600 and literally f4 was the ONLY move I saw.
I'm interested in seeing what candidate moves lower rated players think of (like beginning of chess competency beginners) and then also the though process of higher rated players/see if they even considered other moves.
Its a fascinating concept
Deep dives r the best levy
Never disappoints
Love these deep dives. Keep 'em coming!
im relatively new to chess, 1 yr player - but i quite enjoyed this. I appreciate the insight into the big picture off the board, and the analysis gives the game life that I just wouldnt see otherwise . Thanks
1:26 laughs in fischer
When Levi explains: "He goes a6, takes, masterfully moves bishop D5!!!, then brutally checkmates."
When Magnus explains: "Ahhh I just knew i had the position. It was just easy, honestly."
How kind of Levy to give Magus some attention
1:25 You sure about that? Bobby Fischer
I like these longer breakdowns learn a lot thank you
16:55 Im so proud of myself. I found f4 instinctivily in 5 seconds as a 800 player
He literally said it like 3 times in the video😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
dont want to hate, but someone like you ( or me in fact, im a low elo player aswell) finding a move doenst really mean anything. because we dont understand what the move actually does.
@@wlshhamster dont kill his dreams bro. if he found a move he can find the logic behind it
When will Gotham make a video on the 20 consecutive wins of Bobby Fischer? Would be amazing to hear his opinion on those games! ❤
He made that video a while ago.
After this Levy guy's hair finishes receding, he'll reach gm
It's crazy how Magnus gets more views on Levi's channel then on his own.
Can't believe magnum got 100% accuracy in chess, truly one of the chess moments
Gotta give it to you Levy, you explain chess in a way that keeps everyone informed and enthralled in the position. Best commentary out there by far keep it up.
I'm not even a huge chess fan but GC's lively narration is so entertaining that I find myself watching anyway. Well done, sir!

The stare was immaculate today!💪🔥
I cant belive magnus played a Brilliant Move
I’m 28 turning 29 next month. Started playing chess at the local club to be sociable instead of spending every day alone in my office programming / building my company. Now I’m in it to win. I wish I could see the board in these videos but I’m partially sighted, so can’t spot moves that aren’t pointed out. Do you do private lessons? Obviously I’ll pay. Don’t need to say you’re an incredible player and I’ve learnt tons from your videos already, and I’m going to get your courses. So long as I can mirror the moves on my physical tactile chess set, easy if they’re called out or if someone is on the other side of the board, I can easily learn. The club has multiple folks rated around 2000 or higher in their 70s and above. I don’t think I’ll be able to match Magnus Carlson given what you said about age, but I want to try. I’ve pulled off less crazy things before. Thanks for all the great content :)
being partially sighted and learning chess is a courageous and impressive thing already! what elo are you if i can ask?
@@bencraven1262 I haven’t been rated yet, maybe soon. Got a lot to learn.
