One of the bits I love about this movie. Brian’s friends don’t abandon him when he changes. They realize he is going through something and tell him they are there for him.

Yeah, I think that's a plus for him. He was going thru a very hard time after Vinh died, he was trying to get some answers, and maybe improve on his bad boy image for Tina (Vinh's gf.). If anything, they probably thought with the short hair, and the preppy clothes, that he was going thru a phase, and he'll probably snap out of it.

God, I watched this my freshman year in 1990 when I first started skating. I was in Eureka Ca and this movie BLEW MY MIND. I would end up starting a skate company at 34 years old and the first two guys on my team were Frankie Hill and Eric Ricks. Blue Dragon Enterprises only lasted about a year, but to have my childhood heroes on my team was a dream come true.

I survived childhood. this comes from people who lived after 1960 the safest time in humans' lives. When before 1950 8 out of 10 kids died before the age of ten. If a couple had 8 kids only 2 would make it to adulthood. most died before 10. the easier and safer we have it te more we complain about how hard it is.

Movie Fact. Although the movie shows Tony hawk driving the Truck, he was in fact one of the skaters seen skating down the hill, since they didn't have enough Skater extras. He was also injured during the scene when he wrecked.

Me too! This film was introduced by my aunt and I wanted to skate so bad. I learned it loved it. Board broke in the 90's by a cousin of mine over some anger management due something I cannot remember and I resumed skating again and never stopped again several years later. This movie still rocks and I miss 1988/1989 times. Being so young does make you feel alive and live forever when you see stuff like this. Skateboarding is to live for and it was a thing to do and freedom to express your connection with your life and that board. Nobody could take away the melody you feel when you ride on the surface.

Have not watched this since it was on HBO , seen it first at the theaters when i was 14 ( thank you nana for taking us ) i always dreamed of skating this way , but since i have always been a big guy i just could not get any tricks down , but the feeling of just skating in the warm summer weather in Chicago was liberating , back then that was all the therapy we needed to get through any hard times we were facing. 48 now and this just took me back to my Hs days thank you , and to all my fellow skaters who don't skate no more cause health insurance is to high now and we cant afford to break a bone ..SKATE OR DIE for EVER !!!
