- Unreal Engine 5.3 brings numerous wide-ranging improvements as we continue to expand UE5’s functionality and potential for game developers and creators across industries.
As well as enhancements to core rendering, developer iteration, and virtual production toolsets, we’re introducing Experimental new rendering, animation, and simulation features-including cinematic-quality volumetric rendering, orthographic rendering, a Skeletal Editor, panel-based Chaos Cloth, and support for SMPTE ST 2110.

At first I thought this would mostly be a film-centric update, but the orthographic view will help greatly with top-down action and strategy games!

Wow. Love the cloth simulation feature, the shirt looked awesome while moving realistically instead of being baked. I've been dreaming about this feature for so many years!
It’s like lipstick in a pig. Chaos physics is still crap. How about ensure the product is stable before adding new shiny features that make the engine is more unstable.
Love those simulation improvements. That always felt like an underutilized part of the engine.
@@JonathanLukeAvery it probably will be possible soon, considering there is real time ray tracing now, which is nice, or if not hopefully throughout the years someone finds a way to make those simulations less resource intensive
I feel like technology advances way faster than I can keep up with it, haha. But hey, not saying that's a bad thing though! Thank you guys for the exceptional work!

That's cool and all, but let's focus on improving stability and squishing bugs...
thats not their goal, their goal is to trick the industry into that UE is the ONE and then just capitalise on the income without fixing much of the bugs.

@@Imhotephp Yeah, but you know when you are fixing bugs you can't release "new" version every 4 months then. So how you will then trick the industry that your software has everything you ever need if the features do not even exist no matter how broken they are.
But they are removing bugs? You can just go into release notes and see for yourself.

Hey Unreal Engine,
If you put a neuron-response capture headcap on a gamer, subject them to a library of images, map the responses to index a user archive, then the gamer need merely think of a static memory, the computer program reads the relevant neurons, and displays an approximation of selected library images through Unreal Engine 5.3, using AI logic to mesh the puzzle pieces because of nanite malleability?
We could paint with thinking.

I'm glad Epic are starting to put more work into the developer experience and editor performance with features like on demand shader compilation and here with multi thread cook. It's not a flashy feature that looks great on marketing material, but it makes a marked improvement to what using the tool is like, and I greatly appreciate it.

So can you guys like, fix landscapes? Why does using a 8k heightmap create 4000 landscape components in 5.3, and only 64 in 5.2. It murders my performance

Догадались разработчики Remnant 2 сделать оптимизацию? Или они не смогли нормально оптимизировать тайтл? Или они забили?
Забавная тенденция: графики в новых тайтлах особой не прибавилось, играть с приемлимой частотой кадров можно только на топах, а виноват в этом не разработчик, а критикующий за подобный подход нонейм, который не научил разрабов оптимизировать игры. Сами эпики почему-то умеют оптимизировать игры на своём движке: Fortnite тому доказательство.
@@deadselect Тот самый Фортнайт, в котором при первом запуске и весь игровой сеанс устанавливаешь шейдеры, ловя при этом микрофризы и лаги и напрочь убивая хорошее первое впечатление об игре
@@micromancerв лаунчере надо поставить галочку чтоб при установки игры он сразу скачал все и сразу все установил и не будет при первом запуске тормозов.
У меня кстати небыло ни каких проблем когда я первый раз установил без этой галочки, это у тебя проблемы и ноешь сидишь.
Это нормальная практика когда игра не докачена, но ты уже можешь играть и во время игры игра докачивается и устанавливается и очевидно она не будет играть плавно и как должна. И нужно быть полным долбаебом, чтоб знать этот момент, что у тебя игра что то докачивает и что то ещё устанавливает, но при этом орать и делать впечатления.
Возьми любую ММО, у них свой лаунчер и везде ты скачиваешь примерно процентов 30 и уже можешь играть

No word about nanite displacement texture in ue 5.3 . I thought displacement texture had returned?! A guy on UA-cam showed it working in the preview version..
Where are we with Very Large Terrain importing? Just found out that we have to disable the Landscape Layers editing to import any landscape Large than 16K. Which would not allow spline deformity like roads.
The advancement of technology is undoubtedly a good thing, and it's foolish to argue against it. However, in the game engine, besides new tools for filmmakers with the latest RTX graphics cards that cost a fortune, it would be nice to see something for game developers with less top-tier configurations, without RTX. The performance improvement for Lumen is not happening. There's no performance improvement for TSR. There's no performance improvement for Virtual shadow maps. Occlusion culling works much worse than in UE4 (static meshes load right before your eyes, regardless of the frame rate). On the other hand, in the new version, the standard shadow maps are broken, and you're forced to switch to Virtual shadow maps, even if you don't need them, and they are even more hardware-demanding. I hope in the future, apart from movies, the developers will also consider games and work on improving performance.

Question, why is Unreal all crammed onto one monitor.. I am assuming most of us have 2 or 3 monitors, why is Unreal not utilizing this?
Wouldn't it be awesome to have the viewport center and all the tools on another screen? Most all of my 3D and graphics software have been doing this for decades.

You can make the first 2D platformer with real time cloth simulations. No one wanted it, but you will surely deliver it anyway.

all of this features that any console or PC can run it lmao
FPS is still TRASH... I stay with UE 4. UE5 is still not production Ready after 3 versions and years adding more and more stuff that we can not use in game and actually affecting FPS, making it a terrible platform for console games. UE4 was great without any of the new features, because the 1 feature that matters is: FPS.
I want them to do an update that is just completely about real world physics.
Imagine path tracing in UE5, given 4090 can barely handle this engine alone without dlss help

This engine is amazing. Gone is the time of saying graphics aren't good enough. When I see it..its like. Yes....that looks right.
There is something I should say Primal Council Xenothreat so everybody would see where it all began - living not having 0 time is not good for us. These are short studies lectures tasks assignments, but not that rich modeling experience for a complete game. You likely not doing it professionally ever again 1:12 and it's same reoccurring web browsing experience as writing hello world. Current students could have had this education institution modeling experience, students like me enjoyed this journal revealing it's secrets 1:20.

Not long downloaded this to play, but it keeps crashing within three minutes of loading :( My computer is well withing specs.
Did they already do something to render only one angle of the 3d model in corelation to what is visible on the screen (something like fake 3d in wolfenstein 3d and other old games) and render only some partial buffer thats currently out of sight?

doesn't matter if you don't bring the caustics and light dispersion branch from nvidia as a built in. nothing matters anymore without that.

I have a problem in 5.3. It can not play my mp4 files in reverse! My file has supported rate from 0.5 to 4 ( no negative rates are supported ! ). These are normal H.264 flies which we have created in AE.
