For an instance, if someone had said that Astra mk1's full scale production will be skipped and Astra mk2 will be inducted in major number then it makes some sense because just in additional 2 crores, you are getting 50 km additional range, but saying to skip mk2 does not make too much sense because on the basis of price, it seems like Astra mk2 will be the used mostly because it's just 2 crore more compared to mk1 but gives additional 50 km range.
i thought the same. MK1 can be skipped but theres no logic in skipping MK2.

May be the issue is because of the enemies infra and 5th gen stealth fighters... Rather I think the chances are Mk II and MkIII, means we can skip MkI.
Good. Indigenous weapon systems are being inducted in large numbers now. Not only missile like Astra but even small arms like Asmi are also ordered. Recently Asmi by LMT and Taurus T9 from Jindal Group are both awarded the contract to supply 550 guns (SMG) each just a few days back.

The smarter way to go is to stop additional orders of astra mk1 and instead buy mk2 for just 2 crs more and then get mk3 aswell for larger range

No. But we can sell(or lease) them older R77 and replace those missiles in Indian service with Astra mk1. For Astra you will need Indian mission computer.

They can do anything, I have full trust on them.
Only reason I can think of is higher weight and dimensions of Astra mk2 doesn't allow it to go inside AMCA. and Tejas won't carry much mk2 because of it being used in interceptor role and not as air dominance fighter jet.
But still having astra mk2 makes lots of sense than not having it at all. Besides Su30mki would be a good match for it.
The dimensions of Astra MK-1 are 3.6 m. Astra MK-2 is probably bigger but as far as I know it’s close to 4 m long.
The weapons bay of the AMCA should be at least 4.5-4.8m long. By what logic are you claiming that AMCA won’t be able to fit Astra MK-2 or MK-3 ?
The J-20 literally fits a PL-15 (equivalent of MK-3) in a 4.8-5m long weapon bay

can you also compare the cost of indian astra missiles with global missiles like AMRAAM and Meteor. This will make it very clear that astra missiles are available at 1/3rd or 1/4th costs and thus making a lot of economic sense??

There's no logic skipping MK2. It fills a critical gap. I don't think IAF will do that.
I also think skipping Mk2 doesn't make sense.

पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्टः- कुछ समय पहले एक खबर आई थी कि एक Vendor ने Made in Germany बैरल की जगह Made in China बैरल सप्लाई कर दी थी। आज तक किसी को पता नहीं चला कि इस Vendor को कोई दंड दिया गया। जो लोग Regularly डिफेंस न्यूज सुनते हैं, उनको पता है कि भारत के बाहर से कोई भी डिफेंस से संबंधित चीज खरीदी जाती है तो उसमें दोनों देशों की सरकारें Involve होती हैं। इस नियम के हिसाब से तो वो Vendor खुद से चीन से बैरल खरीद ही नहीं सकता था। इसका मतलब ये हुआ कि मोदी सरकार ने ही चीन से बैरल खरीदने की डील की थी न कि उस Vendor ने, सिर्फ सप्लाई का माध्यम वो Vendor जरूर था।
हकीकत ये है कि ये खबर गलती से बाहर आ गई क्योंकि इस घोटाले को जिसने उजागर किया, उसको पता नहीं था कि इस घोटाले में खुद मोदी सरकार शामिल है। राफेल घोटाला भी कुछ इसी तरह से उजागर हुआ था। तत्कालीन रक्षा राज्य मंत्री सुभाष भामरे को मोदी के द्वारा किए गए राफेल घोटाले के बारे में जानकरी नहीं थी इसलिए उसने सदन में राफेल की कीमत रुपए 670 Cr./प्लेन बता दी थी। लेकिन बाद में पता चला कि राफेल रुपए 1600+ Cr./प्लेन के हिसाब से खरीदा गया है।

But with it came 100's of Startups namely Elbit Systems / Tadrin / IMI / Soltam Systems / Rafael Advanced Systems ...etc !
But at that Time Indian Army was dancing for Importing T 55 Tank from Soviet Union !
At its peak we imported 1800 T 55 tanks from 1964 to 1971 !
Where we payed at least 400 million USD for these Stuff instead for Making our own Designs !
Now, My Question is :
Why to make Indegenious Equipments when our Forces always prefers Imported Slags ???
Why to waste double Money on Every Project ???
If we could save some Foreign Reserves , we could help our private Industries import some High tech equipments or technology for our own benifit!
