A nice operating tractor. I like the additional splash of yellow paint work on the hood, takes me back to the 20 and 30 series in the two cylinder line of tractors. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for watching. Thank you to my local dealer Hutson for being right on it for ordering an 8RX a year in advance. This one was here 2 days after the John Deere intro where I got to do a test drive video and because it rained that day it took about 5 days for the ground to dry out. As soon as the ground was good it was in the field. Very quick turn around.
I'm glad you noted the torque rating because that's what really pulls the ripper through the ground. HP is the sexy number but torque is the real measure of an engine's power
bigtractorpower just a friendly FYI from an engineer... torque in this case is measured in ft*lbs. that’s a measure of a foot multiplied by pound. Not foot per lb.
I would have liked to see the wheeled version and the tracked version pulling side by side. I don't think the soil conditions were comparable. The wheeled tractor was dealing with a lot of red clumps.
How is the steering? with such a contact patch with the ground surface can you ever feel it want to get into a situation where it doesnt want to make a complete lock one direction or the other? can you ever feel any type of bump steer? The tie rod looks massive as it looks to be a solid bar of rectangle steel. Wish I had one in the living room lol.
Very nice looking tractor! Some nice features! Surprised that it would not come standard with a IVT trans, but the power-shift would be cheaper. I would really LOVE to see what this tractor would do in the Louisiana mud! It’s very, very wet here in Southern, Manitoba 🇨🇦 as well. I hear tracks are giving the farmers some head aches! During the day the tracks get all loaded up with mud and the mud freezes rock hard over night! So they have to knock it all out of there before driving otherwise you ripe a track and ect...

I rewatched parts of the video and your point about tracks vs tires is better shown in the early part of the video where the tracked tractor is causing waves of upheaval of the ground through some very tough soil. It looked like a rolling earthquake. It looked pretty cool.
The 8RX turns very tight. I was impressed by that. Deere has not published a price on the 8RX yet but on 4wds a 9620R 4wd is $522,000 and a 9620RX on tracks is $628,000. Tracks are the way to go in tillage and are nice on grain carts. They do wear probably a little faster than tires.
Easy way to end up with 1 million dollars as a farmer....start out with 10 million dollars and then go get some nice gear. Looks like a fine machine here and thanks again for another quality show.

A question BTP.. Do you have to manually have to operate the impempent even though you are using auto-guidence ? Sir you are a highly skilled 🚜 driver. Great video BTP. 👍👍
Yes you have to raise and lower the implement. I appreciate your complement. I do not have allot of tractor seat time. I enjoyed driving this 8RX and a 9RX on the same day. I still have lots to learn. It was fun.
It will most likely have a hefty price tag. A Fendt 1000 is a different class of tractor than an 8R. The Fendt is much larger but when you add 4 tracks the cost will most likely surpass larger wheeled machines.
I would imagine that it won't cost any more than a twin track, which based on JD's current lineup, model for model, carries about a $20k premium over wheels. Do these quads even require any different hardware(outside of the cosmetics of course, which it's nice to see a track row crop model styling designed around the tracks) over the wheel model, outside of what I assume is a different final drive than the wheel models? I would assume that the 4 axle tractors(non-twin tracks, which carry unique front frame hardware) just go down the production line, get the appropriate rear end for the drive method, then either get a set of wheels or a set of tracks, w/ or w/o axle tube extensions based on the ordered track width. But, outside of the track units and some cheap cosmetic parts, I don't see where else the cost would be. In comparison, the twin tracks carry unique hardware that the wheel and quad tracks won't. I guess without knowing the cost of the track units vs the cost of the twin track undercarriage, it's just difficult to say. Speaking of the AGCO 1000 tractor twins, I wonder if we'll see Deere take the 9RT model, and offer it with a set of wheels and quad tracks(as a fixed from like the 8RX), leaving them with a 9-series that features quad tracks and wheels with an articulating frame and twin tracks, quad tracks, and wheels with a fixed frame. Given that they already offer the 9RT twin track, it's not a big leap to add wheel and quad track models to it. I would imagine that the pending success of the AGCO 1000 twins will dictate this sort of thing in the future. ...and, WHEN THE HELL IS CHALLENGER GOING TO HAVE AN ARTICULATING QUAD TRACK?!?!?! They're THE 'track brand' - this drives me nuts!!! lol
@@RyTrapp0 Challenger and Claas seem to do just fine with their twin track to date, you'll be likely to see a Xerion 5000 as a quad than the challenger.
@@piperdoug428 Well it's certainly not that the twin track Challengers are lacking - I mean, a set of tracks receiving 600HP gets about any job done. It just never made an ounce of sense to offer a full track lineup, then add an articulating 4WD that's only available in wheeled form. It really undercuts the brand image when they originally sold the twin track concept as being capable of replacing an articulating 4WD - then release their own articulating 4WD, and only in wheeled form in spite of so many other brands offer the quad track option. It just seems like poor brand management honestly, if AGCO is going to offer so many brands and share product between so many brands, then they need to commit to differentiating them. If Challenger & Fendt are going to share products, then put the Challengers on tracks, or at least make them an option for all of the Challenger branded tractors - not only does this make sense for the brand, but there's also clearly plenty of demand for track options for damn near EVERYTHING(the aftermarket brands even offer them for self propelled sprayers, among everything else). Hell, half of these brands are offering aftermarket tracks as factory - might as well do the same for the Challenger brand.
Biggest flaw in the video.. no matter what is said everything has to be exactly the same , field , implement, speed conditions everything.. otherwise it’s not an accurate comparison.. and plowing through the same path . I noticed the wheeled tractor was pulling up large sections of compact soil and tripping shanks back . This bye far no real legitimate test .

True, but twin tracks, in my opinion, better than quad tracks but wheels are easiest to get parts for and tires.
Besides the front ballast can these track tractors be field weighted? Or is it not needed with the tracks?
I will have to ask. On two track models weight can be added to the drive wheels. On 4wds they can stack extra weight around the rear hitch.

Dude you keep quoting wheelbase variations.. They are track variations. The thing doesn't get longer...
The axle can be extended from 88 to 120 inches to fit narrow 20 inch rows to 30 inch rows. 18, 24 and 30 inch tracks are available.
A question BTP..
Do you have to manually have to operate the impempent even though you are using auto-guidence ?
Sir you are a highly skilled 🚜 driver.
Great video BTP. 👍👍
ROBERT Daly yes
Yes you have to raise and lower the implement.
I appreciate your complement. I do not have allot of tractor seat time. I enjoyed driving this 8RX and a 9RX on the same day. I still have lots to learn. It was fun.
I can imagine it will be the most expensive fixed body on the market, probably out price the 1050 Fendt
I don’t disagree with you. I am not trying to sell this tractor but just report on it. While the 8RX and 8R were not side by side you can see the 8RX just a few passes over. Also at the very beginning of the video you see the 8RX turn and take off across the field. That starting point was right next to the 8Rs pass shown in the video. You can see a little bit of a gap between the passes the .8RX in that first 30 seconds hits that red dirt with out hesitation. Observing wheeled and track tractors subsoiling for the past 18 years I say great confidence tracks win hands down in that application. If I get a chance to film tracks and wheels with the same implement side by side I will defiantly show it. For this video I want to give a visual example of the difference . The 8370R operator parked his tractor to go start combing soybeans down the road so that opportunity did not arise for this video.
Toolbar doesnt look level..... Needs tilted forward a bit.
That’s a BEEFY BOI 👀😱
It’s a solid machine.
Price
I think I mention the price in the video. The price may not have been out when I posted this video. This 8RX was filmed three days after the public release in 2019. It is $628,000.
yes if you can afford one, track's are not cheap we know we have bought combines have are on tracks mmm we had a great offer on them and sold them could not get tracks for the harvest to wish we did this year the tracks we will have we had to know trouble to sell the new combines we got just have one lift we did destroy that one was our mistake how we pulled it out we are looking how to repair it as to structure repairs we need to do to this machine the other option is to part it out for parts and we have no problem doing this to machinery at all
we do have used machinery parts for farm equipment
Looks like a Case IH rowtrac.
Tea Bag ya but 900 times better😂
3:50 16.5” too
I wish I could subsoil my garden like that .
Deere offers a 1 row subsoiler 😁
U can spin that black thing on ur throttle to go faster
👍
John Deere has let me down, by moving some of it's operation to Mexico.
From the side shots it looks like the tractor has slippage because the hubs spin much faster than ground speed. Nice set up for sure.
That JD IVT transmission sure does whine a lot.
They do, but theyre sure nice for alot of jobs. I think id rather use powershift for tillage but that's about the only job
The back of it looks weird for some reason
The back looks some what like an 8RT. It does look docent.
Taking a look at the wrinkly thing(8r)
Now big tractor power is gunna trade his international in on an 8rx lol
I like the 8RX but I will stick with V8 Power.
yea that was not very good match up at all
