This was my favorite NES game, which I still have. I had a character that was a human that was 106 years old. It was one of the first games I ever beat. Love this game.
I am SO excited for this release! The first Wizardry was my first game on my first computer, the Apple ][+ (Yes, that's how we typed it because those characters most closely resembled the actual logo on the front of the computer), in 1981. I played the game twice in a row back then, and have not forgotten it since then! I would like to see more options in the Gilgamesh's Tavern menu, more than just add, remove and resequence members. Trading loot among party members would be nice. I would also like to see a larger roster at the Training Grounds, too. As for future projects, I think that Ultima IV would be a good place to go. I am loving this reestoration of the game so far! Keep up the good work! I am so proud to be an Early Access customer to this project!
Looking forward to diving into this again with a modern coat of paint. I played this in the 80's on my C-64, never got very far, these games are brutal. The one I got the furthest into was the one on the SNES, 5 I think. Graph paper mapping and all.
I've gotten a few hours of play in between BG3 and Starfield sessions and I really like the interface. I die a lot but I'm having fun with the combat anyway. It's looking great so far.
Is alignment change in this version? That is, attacking friendly monsters in the dungeon can flip good to evil. It is like that in some versions but not all. I have lords and samurai that haven’t flipped alignment so far.
I wonder if they can institute a difficulty setting to make the game a bit easier.. Also, please consider allowing easy modding for the game. Most games that have a modding capability sell well. It will be very beneficial to everyone to allow for modding. Steam has a particularly easy way to update mods with their Steam Workshop, which you should take advantage of.
Nice graphics, but do note that the original game is not very long. Wishlist: no level cap, additional dungeons, addtional gear(can be taken from Wiz gaiden).
This is unrelated but I’m having trouble with the Cowabunga collection disc on my series x. My Xbox won’t recognize the disc even though I downloaded the game from the disc. I have to uninstall then reinstall while offline, when offline and uninstalled the Xbox recognizes the disc immediately. Then I can go online, download the update and the game works. If I remove the disc or turn off the Xbox I have to repeat this process.
Just got it!! IT'S AMAZING!!! we really needed a consol Wizardry, I remeber PS2 Wizardry long long ago.......now we finally get one, and I picked it up for The Switch wich is that much better for me, cause I can ninja game at work or wherever LMFAO! =p
First, looks great (love the general art direction) and am excited to play (on GOG!), but... would like some variation in dungeon walls and rooms so that you could potentially play map-less using "landmarks;" as-is the lack of variation in the environments make dungeoneering map-less an exercise in monotony and not viable. Also, the age mechanic is a bit weird when the team doesn't age uniformly. Lastly -- and I understand this is a touchy subject -- I'd refrain from hinting that the 1.0 price point might rise from the EA price point. While I think you're doing beautiful work, I'd find it hard to justify friends -- who have no nostalgia for Wizardry -- buy-in at more than $30. IMHO higher sales at a lower price would be a better strategy... and it would slowly build a new, younger audience for more Wizardry. Now, if you add far more improvements and content, I understand the justification, but as of this video, I'd keep the price down.
You know a lot of people are all about nostalgia but this is crazy. Maybe you can Set up options to improve the game on a settings menu like others you have. I mean it's a super pain to completely wipe out Then have to go and find your party et cetera. I am all for getting good vibes from the past but come on it is 2023. Yes I did play original in 80s btw. What is with leveling and getting so may 1s. I have gotten 4 1's in a row 😢 with an 18 vitality an 14 luck. Just saying that if you want the remake to sell more you will need to modify and update functions so they are less a pain. Thats my 2 copper pieces!
I have no idea why this bunch of crazed nerds would invest so much time and effort into modernizing Wizardry 1, I certainly can't imagine that they expect massive financial return.... thanks though, I have been enjoying it, even though my nostalgia is from watching my dad play it apple 2.
Really hope this gets all love and support it needs
This one on the NES and Wizardry V on the SNES are among my favorite memories as a kid growing up haha. Great to see it get some new life.

Also remember. Using Magic in town was not allowed, so spellcasting should only be allowed in Camp.

Younger audiences aren't ready for this. There is no safe place. Get good.
