This is the nicest 300SD I have ever owned. 1980 California version. Simply amazing car.
As a Mercedes enthusiast and owner of many MBs over 40 years, I can attest, after seeing and driving in this 116 with John, that this car is in absolutely phenomenal condition! This man knows his cars and truthfully represents them. I bought a great 116 driver from John and have been very satisfied. John, if I were you I’d keep it!

I didn’t get a chance to ride in this car, but I did get to see it when I flew in to pick up my W126. It really is outstanding in every way!! If you are looking for a good, honest, fully sorted classic Mercedes diesel then John is your guy. Best cars in the country.

It’s amazing how well you know these cars. I’ve been a diesel Mercedes’ fanatic since the early 2000s and yet I manage to learn something new each time I watch one of your videos.

Is there tint on the side windows?
There is a very mild tint and it's there to protect the interior, which it has done very successfully. However if you are interested in purchasing the vehicle I can remove the tint very easily.

Yes they bought it about 2 years previously and then listed it for sale and I recognized the car immediately and bought it back!
Is it the one from Ammo NYC?
No. This car was originally out of Arizona then it came to Georgia.
Only thing missing is a sunroof!
A sunroof is just one more thing to break and leak on a 40-year-old car!!!
The 1980 W116 Turbo Diesel that I sold to my neighbor has been sold several times since, and is still on the same street, just moving into better neighborhoods with each sale. The owners all make improvements and yet it still looks that same.

Correction.. It is in fact real horse hair they use!
No it is not real horse hair. :) It is a synthetic fibrous material. I have had to vacuum it up many times from cars that are deteriorating.
Only thing missing is a sunroof!
Nah sunroof is just one thing to fail and leak. Plus the original sunroof felts from Mercedes are no longer available. Best to have one of these without a sunroof :)
