I installed this item on my Heritage last night. Your video is spot on. I used blue locktite on my screws so I will probably go back and change it to the red since you recommend it. Keep doing what you're doing!
That was ome of the first things I put on my 18 Heritage. Changes the look and follows the lines better.

Looks good! Agree completely on the hardware that comes with it. I’ve had good luck using bees wax (weird, I know) on the threads of the bolts that come with it and have had better luck not snapping those off. Your way works, too.

I upgraded the hardware with my kuryakyn lay down plate holder with stainless. Definitely a bit stronger, but more important, won’t rust out.

Check out the drag specialties lay down plate for the next one you need to buy. It lays almost on the fender, looks by far the best
I think that’s the one Aaron got, so he gave me his old one (this one in the vid.) Lays down SO close to the fender!

Damn I'm jealous. In order to install a lay down plate holder, the plate holder on the softail slim basically requires the rear fender and a tail light to be removed, a spacer piece to be ordered from Harley and wiring to be moved. I'm an amateur, so its a bit intimidating.
I’m using my half of the garage for my shop too, but dang it gets hot out there. I bought an ac unit for it but it doesn’t help... we need insulated garage doors, that’s what I’m told.

Kuryakyn? Not a fan of their stuff. Replacing the bolts was a good idea! Also, it’s good to have Bagger Bro do the work while you hold the camera, it allows us to see how the whole project is done. The underside shot of the bolts was money!
Usually not a fan either but the lay down plate is nice. Just gotta reuse stock hardware 👍🏼

Probably should of got that one before I had to trim my plate down with another brand ...
Seems like loctite could actually make the nylon on the lock nuts less reliable.
Thought of it as adding an extra layer of locking but to the entire contact point of the threads between the bolt and nut. Curious how that would make it less reliable?
@@BlockheadMoto Loctite works on metal to metal contact, and it can react against some plastics. It doesn't have a severe reaction with nylon lock nuts but it may actually reduce the effectiveness of the nyloc.

A. Anaerobic adhesives are generally not used with most plastics. Anaerobic adhesives will stress crack some plastics, including many thermoplastics like ABS and polycarbonate. If the product is used for metal-to-metal but in close proximity to plastic, there is the possibility of excess liquid product or vapor affecting the plastic. In the case of compatible plastics like acetals, the anaerobic adhesives are simply not the best family of products for effectively locking and/or sealing. Often Loctite® Cyanoacrylates (Instant Adhesives) are substituted if they meet the other application parameters.

Hi, Blockhead, and anyone else that may have an answer to this question......My wife and I want to start riding, and we both like Harley Davidson because of the style and sound.....but, she is really really short (She is 4.10''), and she got sad when I told her I was not sure if she will be able to ride a cruiser bike, and that she may be stuck with a Trike as the only option. She really likes the Soft Tail Low Rider S. Is there a way to make someone as....'vertically challenged' as her be able to reach the ground on a Soft Tail?
A lot of places actually sell lowering kits. Usually not to expensive either.

@@Curveball yes, and no. Harley's aren't meant to be track bikes anyways, and even an inch or 2 down won't hurt a new rider. I will say that they're very heavy to be learning on though. I would suggest a Honda rebel if even for just a season and take a credited course just to get solid fundamentals and then the weight won't be an issue. then after that, just get some think soled boots and have at it! happy riding.
@@MarkG104 My concern is an inch or two won't be enough. lol. I've seen ladies that were 5.2'' having to tippy toe, and my Wife is much shorter than 5.2''. Thank you very much for the replies.

BLOCKHEAD Sometimes notifications don’t come through for random channels (Her.Two.Wheels and NASASoaceFlight are the biggest offenders for me), but I’ve never seen the bell just not show up.
Idea for the chopper you should do the running thing and then flash on to the bike yelling "GET TO THE CHOPPA" haha. When you turned to the flag at the end looked like you were going to turn it around on yourself, now that would have been a good fake and have Joe dirt face covering 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Red loctite is a bit over kill.

Because you never know. They don't even use red for brake components and other mission critical stuff.

And then you take out the Silver Bolts......sand them down a little bit on the top so the paint will stay on....then you hit them with HD Spray on wrinkle black and let dry and get rid of the damn silver bolts! Or hit up ACe and get some of the black chrome bolts and make it look like it should come out of the package....LOL The devil is in the details LMAO
You never see those bolts though bc they’re under the plate 😅
