I am trying to imagine him being happy in that hospital, with people looking after him and providing for him in his final days, but I cant shake the thought that he spent his last days in terror knowing that once he was good enough to be tossed out, he would be, and it was just too much for him to handle.

I'm a retired Registered Nurse and chronic alcoholism and what used to be called "wet brain" or alcoholic encephalopathy contributed to his mental state. Electrolyte disruption can cause hallucinations and seizures. But from the state of his legs, he probably died of sepsis. Generalized blood infection that results in shutdown of organs. I'm grateful you rescued him even though he didn't survive, he didn't die in the squalor in which he had been living. My prayers for all elderly alone people.

Long term effects of alcoholism could have led his body down a road of liver issues-up to and including cirrhosis. It can also be the cause of brain function and memory issues as well as a contributor of osteoporosis. His fall, the confusion, dehydration and malnourishment, etc. could all be a "perfect storm" situation that led to his passing. Nerveless, he was shown kindness, compassion and care from you at a pivotal point in his life. Even if he couldn't express it, I'm sure he was relieved to have received the help he got. Because of your advocating for him, he passed away in a safe place, in much less pain and much more comfortable than he would have at home.

Sadly, there are people that totally shun neighbors and family and live in squalor, totally isolating themselves from the world. They don't want help, or anyone being around. They are hard to help. Cause of death was reported as Chronic Alcohol Intoxication which doesnt mean he was actively drinking in his last days, or even weeks, the diagnosis mean irreparable damage to the body/ organs from long term alcoholism. There's a reason why alcoholics are told not to stop drinking suddenly because the body can go into shock. The liver swells up and you get all sorts of withdrawal symptoms that can be severe. If he was unable to walk and get alcohol this must have made things worse. I'm just glad that he didn't die in that filthy house. At least he was taken care of in his last hours. Thank you for your kindness towards this poor man.

But I must say based on the attitude of the female doctor who came out to see him and the woman you spoke to on the phone I did think to myself I bet the hospital abuses him 😔 They were so worried about how they looked. So sad he passed but at least he’s not suffering in squalor anymore 💔

Thank you for trying Sergei. Unfortunately, some can’t be saved. Please don’t let this discourage you and your wonderful commitment to helping those who need it most. I’m suspicious as you are on his cause of death. It doesn’t seem the hospital wanted to save him. It’s too bad he didn’t have family, or close friends where he could have gotten medical help sooner. Sometimes thing happen that are beyond our control. Unfortunately there are a lot of bad things that happen with people of authority and those that hold those positions. They do and say whatever they want to. God bless you for trying your hardest to save this elderly man. Your work does not go unnoticed. ❤️🥰🫶🏻 looking forward to your upcoming videos. It is sad that he died but you would like to think at least he died in a clean bed and being taken care of ( or I hope he was). Sometimes just realizing , even if too late, that someone cared about you helps the person to die in peace and feel some degree of love at the end. I didn't get the feeling from his neighbors that they were the loving caring type.

Thank You from New Zealand to show such compassion and sad that Andrew didn't make it. Prolonged Alcohol abuse can lead to so many internal organ failures especially the heart and by the look of the swelling of his lower legs points to pulmonary edema a result of chronic heart failure, shortness of breath and tiredness. He may not have needed to drink alcohol as the damage was already done but a lack of care / hydration and healthy food would have hastened the end. Alas it looked as though he had given up the struggle and just wanted to leave, which he did. At least he was in a warm safe and clean environment when he did, thanks to you. God Bless.

Thank you for giving us update about him, I've seen your video when you went to visit him, when you called the lady whose I think the health supervisor or something and she was a bit rude to you, but you then scolded her about this man needing stat medical help, you documented everything! Very unfortunate that by the time he's got help he passed. Prolong intoxication might be one of the cause of his death, but I don't think that's the one that led to his demised! Considering the situation he was in when you found him, other causes like infection due to open wounds of his feet, the frostbite he had when you found him, filthy environment is a health hazard too. Also, he hasn't eaten for 2 weeks if I was right about it. His immune system had gone down pretty bad,but even so, if he wasn't given the proper medical attention at the hospital itself when he was taken, you never know eh!..You did everything you could anyway! Just continue doing good deeds to your fellow countrymen specially now!..Have yourself a good day! God bless you more..

Boje! Thank you for doing all you could to help this man Sergei, and to any of those in his village that cared. One thing I was thinking as well, was even if he was an alcoholic, but stopped drinking suddenly, alcohol and benzodiazepine medication can kill from the withdrawals alone, and the withdrawals can last for up to a year, sometimes longer depending on the length of use. Suddenly stopping will kill most healthy people even, let alone a man in this condition. Regardless of his life prior, Sergei, you are a wonderful human, and you deserve the world for the help you give to those with none. Ive been watching many of your videos after discovering them just over the past few days. I just want to say bless your heart, and thank you for caring in a world of so much selfishness. Sergei, I'm so sorry this was the outcome of your devoted care for this man, Mickael. I was hoping to see him turned around and doing much better. But you are right, not all life stories have happy endings. Perhaps this was the happiest ending that was possible for him. I can't help but feel skeptical about his care in the hospital since the ambulance left him behind the first time and that horrid nurse gave you such a hard time over the phone about him. If he had nobody to advocate for him in the hospital, couldn't advocate for himself, and if he was unfortunate enough to encounter more people like the those first ambulance people and that nurse you talked to on the phone, then only a little more neglect would have hastened his end. However, it is also true that they may have done everything for him and still he could have been too far gone. Such a very sad story. Regardless, you did the right thing and you showed exactly the right example to everyone else. Thank you for your compassion. Making a difference is sometimes a long and unappreciated effort and you don't always get to see the results yourself. Rest assured, dear Sergei, the goodness you give will live on beyond the moment and touch many others you've never met. May you be blessed. 🙏
