Ah, f*nnying about with jetting (and/or ignition timing) to get a Bretta to run well. If I ever get mine right, I'll change the exhaust so that I can do it all over again. Good times!

I have just fitted a casa 185 in a Li 125 series 2. Series 3 air box with scoop cut out. Took me ages to get the correct jetting. I ended up with 200 slide 50 pilot and 135 main in a jetex 22mm carb and it runs sweet, pulls through all the gears with a nice brown plug. Watching this video the scoot is nothing like mine......looks pretty slow if I am being honest, compared to mine.

Dek I see that you have not uploaded any videos ..
Talk is cheap bud...... how about uploading a video of yours so that we can see the difference in performance between yours and mine. That would be interesting. .......I'll see if I can find a decent GPS app to check my speed

Not having a go John but just watching the video looks struggling up the hills. a 123 jet in my jetex would seize my kit for sure. Evening running mine in the acceleration was much more responsive. I will see if I can borrow a go pro and get a video done.

@@bluesea2577 Hey Dek sorry if I came across a bit grumpy but I do get fed up with what sounds like criticism at times. Mine did sound a bit flat didn't it but as the title says it was a test run before tuning so I expect there will be some rejetting and mixture setting needed when the flippin rain stops . I might also need to adjust my timing also
I believe the gearbox is a standard series 1 Li150 which is all I had at the time but there does seem to be a bit of a gap between 3rd and forth I'll have to investigate.
Mine is running a little rich on 124 atm but the main jet size has no effect on deceleration which is where the majority of seizes seem to occur as the engine speed is high but the fuel delivery is only supplied by the idle circuit pilot jet.
I'd be very interested in seeing a video because I have nothing to comapare my 185 to at the moment.

@@johncooper7242 It's a misconception that 2 strokes seize when you close off the throttle. The idle circuit is quite rich (or it should be) so even though the engine revs are high as you close the throttle, the mixture the engine receives is the idle mixture which is plenty rich. If it does seize, your idle circuit is too lean.
Your video is really helpful as I'm trying to jet a similar set up. Still think this is the best way - I think using a Dyno can set up your engine a bit too close to the edge - you need a margin of error just in case. Dyno setups are good for racing, but setting it up by riding down the road and checking the plug is most reliable. Wish there was a slide between the 200 and the 150! One is too lean, the other too rich...

hey i recently purchased leeds ltd 185 alloy cylinder kit. i have a jetex 22 on now, 12v bgm stator, standar weight flywheel and a bgm v4 exhaust. you think i would be ok plug the kit or i should upgrade to a bigger carb?

    • @johncooper7242
      @johncooper7242  5 років тому +1

Depending on the jets that you have fitted to the jetex 22mm Carb it should be very good once you have tuned it.
Take a look at how my LiS185 scooter accelerates and runs in the video. It was showing 60mph on the clock on part throttle cruising and it had plenty left .
If you want more performance than that you'll need a specialist to set your engine up for you.
What jets do you currently have fitted to the 22mm carb ? what advance are you using?

p giannikos I fitted a casa 185 in my Li125 6 weeks ago. Took me ages to get correct jetting but now it goes spot on and pulls through all the gears with ease. Even when throttling off it doesn’t jump about .Plug is nice brown colour. I tried every jet for my jetex 22mm but plug was always pure white. Ended up with 200 slide, 50 pilot and 135 main and the scoot runs sweet. Watching this video it does not look like a 185 kit is fitted to be honest....mines is defo much faster😁

@@bluesea2577 faster in what way ? acceleration ? top speed ? I was holding the throttle back because the engine was being run in but it still cruised at 60mph + on part throttle.
Did you notice that a lot of the time I was climbing hills ? probably not.
How much do you weigh Dek ? I weigh 18 stone !... how much difference do you think that would make ?
You haven't told us what atomiser you used nor what exhaust is fitted either. How about the gear ratios ? These things are all an important part of tuning.
At the end of the day its not all about how fast you can go to all of us. We don't all want to scream up and down endless boring motorways at 70mph + on our way to distant rallies ....... if that were so important you'd get a motorbike .
The point I was making was a cheap Indian cylinder kit can give good performance if you know how to prepare them properly and £ for £ that performance is much better bang for buck than your expensive casa which probably doesn't go any faster than mine if truth be told.

@@johncooper7242 can you tell me the exact set up for this kit please? i think i am going to fit it at the end of the summer (september, october) so i want to purchase all parts i will need till then.

    • @johncooper7242

@@pgiannikos its very difficult to advise you because I do not know the spec or condition of your existing setup .
Its a very simple process to fit a cylinder kit there are lots of excellent step by step videos on youtube that will help.
First you need to check and establish that your bottom end is ok your existing crankcase ,gears, chain, guides , bearings , oil seals and crankshaft etc are in good condition .
These cylinder kits need a lot of finishing work to be successful. The castings and porting work are very crude. you'll need to match all your ports with the transfers and manifolds and take the edge off the ports inside the cylinder etc You'll need to check your port timings.....
This is way beyond trying to do this on youtube messages .I'll see if I can find a link to a video .
