Why the Thor Sanctuary 19PT is not a Four Season Van.

- The Thor Sanctuary 19PT is sadly not a four season van. But it could be possible with some modifications. Quick walkthrough of plumbing and where it most likely will freeze. Maybe reworking some of the duct work can make it possible though.

Thank you for always providing good information..
Sure thing! Thanks for watching
Thanks man
Not a problem
Great Video
Thanks
True. But it's pretty easy to winterize/de-winterize thorough out the winter. I've been bouncing between New Mexico, AZ, NV, CA this winter. No problems yet. Thx for the video.
Agreed. Thats why I winterized with air this year. If we go somewhere more temperate I just add water. Then blow it out when I get home.
The biggest issue is that the lithium batteries cannot be charged below 32F or discharged below -14F. So..... the yellow switch needs to be off (my mastervolt does not have the widget to shut off the second alternator). You can use battery operated devices and gas heaters that are not part of the system as I do. (19L 2022). The BMS does not shut the system down for cold, rather only heat and overloads. I did not know this when I bought it. I agree 3 season AND weather temperature permitting.
I didn’t realize it had a low point that it quits discharging. I think the lowest I ever saw on the screen was -21C, so -6F. I got pretty close. Here is a video I made about using the cold lithium batteries Using the ReLiable System in Cold Weather and Heating with the Truma System in a Winterized Van

I should correct my language they will work in all temperatures but they should not be allowed to discharge or charge in the parameters I mentioned
I wouldn’t have been surprised if there was minimum. When mine got down to -6F they probably took over 12 hours to passively heat up to 32F. That is when I learned this stuff actually because the batteries wouldn’t charge and I didn’t know why.
I always felt that this van was not designed for harsh weather conditions so I never bothered to winterize and used my Honda all wheel
drive Ridgeline to venture north in the winter. Living in Florida allows me to use the van more thankfully and I even have occasionally
rented fellow vanlife campers a beautiful location to spend a night or two at a reasonable rate. I don't really mind the snow in Ohio but
when it gets old I'm off to sunny Florida!
Sounds nice! The van itself is pretty decent in the winter. Water systems don’t like it obviously. This van probably gets more daily drive time in the winter like for skiing and inclement weather than our other cars. Good example is right now we are getting a 6-12 inches and have a blizzard warning. If snow is deep tomorrow, I’m taking the van to work. And if I get stranded at work, I have my own place to sleep 🤣. Someday I will upgrade to warmer winters.
I agree the van is definitely fun to drive I just wonder if they designed it low to the ground purposely since it is has such a high profile which makes it somewhat vulnerable to turbulence on windy days and wind tunnels
created by tractor trailers. Also, have you thought about adding a more robust sound
environment to your entertainment system?
For such an expensive van it leaves a lot to
be desired in this area.
@junglehomes6525 yep, I think your right. I think its intended market is a fleet vehicle and lower to the ground will help with mpg and stability. The speakers are pitiful and the van does need some audio help. I’m not very knowledgeable in the car audio department. I thought about it when I took door panels off and added insulation. Definitely want to do it though.
Recently I was operating the van along some winding roads when I heard this strange alert sound and briefly noticed a circular orange or red icon of sorts on the instrument panel? Do you happen to know why I got this alert and have you had a similar experience?
warning
@junglehomes6525 I can’t be for certain but I think it might have been your forward collision. Your story matches a situation that I used to encounter. It was also a winding road and had some up and downs as well. There was a cemetery entrance at the crest of the hill but it also curved to the left. If a car went into the turn lane (right side) the collision sensor would go off. One time it even began to brake. The. When camera could visualize the left bend in the road, it quit. Camera just couldn’t see far enough ahead because of hill so it thought if I continued straight I would collide with car. That’s just a possibility, otherwise I don’t know. There would have had to been others cars around.
