    Cool gear. I think if you are a carrying a glock in the chest rig it should have the kydex trigger guard, especially if you have other gear in that pocket. No external saftey makes it's a concern for re holstering/ something getting snagged on the trigger, and get a accidental discharge

      Or just chamber a round as you draw.& Not run hot.just lukewarm?

    • @T1ddlywinks
      @T1ddlywinks Рік тому

      It's not going to get snagged on anything if you don't put other items in it. The pocket itself is a holster, but I admit it feels about as reassuring as having a Glock pointed at your dick when you carry appendix.

    Great vid! Really nice to see a new one from you pop up. One thing I’ve been doing in my main woods pack is ditching some of the bags, cases and sleeves. I found that enough pieces of equipment could just ride naked in my pack or go into an existing organizational spot. Getting to keep some of that cordura at home shaved off a bit of weight for me when I’m trying to keep it light.

    The stuff HPG designs and First Spear sews is terrific! I've had several kit bags and they're great. Recently I finally found an Umlindi V2 in Black and ordered it so hopefully in a week or ten days I'll have my first HPG backpack to play with.😁

    Great video - your kit is VERY comprehensive - I bet you could cut a bit out it make it a bit more “high speed/low drag” so to speak - you have literally everything you could possibly need in nearly every scenario - I bet you would never need most of it - like the cordage maker - odds are you would never NEED it - anyway each to their own - great presentation - thank you

    Great video. I own a HPG SAR chest bag right now and love it. It has hands down become my favorite piece of gear. I bought it with the original intent of it to be a conceal carry bag. I love it so much though that it has become my go everywhere bag, and I'm now looking to add a small HPG backpack to the setup. The 2 bags will counterbalance each other nicely when connected. I can't decide between the junction and the tarahumara. I see you went with the junction. What are your thoughts on these two bags?

    • @ClpBushcraft
      @ClpBushcraft  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks buddy !!!
      So I have a buddy that has the Tarahumara and to me it’s to small if your wanting to use it for an overnight pack. To me there is not enough room for your sleeping gear. With the Junction pack there is just enough room for my hammock sleep system. The Junction pack paired with the chest rig carries great also , very balanced 👍

    Correct me if I am wrong but doesnt the olight have a magnet for the charging port? I would keep it well away from the compass.
    And check the compass if it still points north.
    And do you have a triggerguard or holster for the 43? Either use one of those or leave the 43 as the only thing in the compartment. You never want something working into the trigger!

    • @ClpBushcraft
      @ClpBushcraft  4 роки тому

      Chris Schuster yes they do have a magnet on the flashlight, and I never thought about that thanks , I definitely have them separated now and I checked the compass it still points north 👍

    Newbie hiker here. I've been testing out a lot of packs from Osprey, Gregory, Deuter. Can quite find comfort. Someone suggested Hill People's Junction or Umlindi for my 1-3-5hr treks through NYC forests and nature habitats. Not sure it's overkill and I'll look silly in an urban environment. But I want something that lasts and is a joy to carry. Is this the one? I will have a light load. Would love your thoughts. Many thanks.

    • @ClpBushcraft

      @@ClpBushcraft my fear is that that the quality suspension system I need isn’t in that pack. I have former injuries I am trying to protect (back, shoulders). I really thought a belt would help. Stays. Maybe the mass market brands are the way to go. I was just so enamored by Hill People.
      You’re right, the Umlindi is too big but seems like such an upgrade in the “chassis” (I have no idea what that means)…but maybe for my short hikes, I shouldn’t be concerned. It wasn’t that I was dead set on Hill People, just admired the company. The mass market packs I tried with weak harnesses, flat against my back and no belt, were awful. P.S. I have no intention of using this bag for every day carry. So, I guess I’m asking again for wisdom.

      And I need good shoes which I am unable to find. Though a woman and 63, I have Men’s 4E feet. Not a brand I know, makes them. Heck, I’d pay for custom. Have lots of foot issues. The largest last I found is 2E and that doesn’t cut it. If you have ideas on brands and knowledgeable store/staff, please send me there - though I live in NYC…I cannot believe how much effort I have put into a 1 to 3 hr trek. I’m all in or I’m not!
