Oh my gog, you have no idea how much I LOVE THIS. I was genuinely freaking out with joy from seeing the title of the video. This is just amazing, I can't think of anything else to say.
I love these kinds of videos on monster hunter that show the amount of effort put into what really shouldn’t have been that important, but they put that much effort in anyways.
I loved, loved, LOVED this video! Botany is such a sorely underrepresented topic in Monster Hunter's worldbuilding. I'm glad somebody finally took an interest in it. And you commentary was quite enjoyable too! I loved your sense of humour just as much as your enthusiasm in identifying tree moss!
I absolutely LOVE this! I think botany is a pretty underrated part of biology, and in imaginative/speculative biology plants are usually overlooked or even ignored. It's good to know I'm not the only one analyzing video game flora. xD
Love this, I'd love to see more of this for other areas in monster hunter, as well as explorations of how well the plantlife in monster hunter fits into the wider ecology and climate of different areas, or any interesting implications that the plants might have.
Super fun and informative! In many hundreds of hours of this game, I never took a moment to look closer at the plants, so it was a cool new perspective! My favorite plant to take a closer look at was the Nulberry- never realized it was a cluster of little blue berries, just assumed it was a single big one!
I am enraptured with your channel, especially this video since MH is my favorite game franchise. Botany is a subject really not talked about enough in world-building and fantasy settings.
A certain shark sent me this way. I always enjoy people showing their interests and hobbies and showing them through videogames, whether it's cooking, music, or botany. It would be cool to see you explain the plant life in the other regions but either way I'm subscribing.
MHW really did go insanely hard on its environmental dressing, ESPECIALLY in the Ancient Forest and Coral Highlands. So much detail in the flora and fauna
I was sent here from TeaCommonShark, and I must say this is incredible! I had no idea anyone made monster hunter botany videos! Please keep it up! This was incredible!
You remind me a lot of the character in World who explores the areas in Pukei Pukei armor, gushing about the plants and small animals around each zone! I feel that if you played into that guild researcher role it would really elevate the series! 🙂↕️ The gags involving running and hiding from the monsters add to the experience, it gives the feel of an exciting safari. Awesome video! 😌🙏
Monster Hunter AND Pikmin ? This is exactly the content niche I want ! This video makes me so much more thankful of the attention that goes into Monster Hunter to really make it a rich environment, both in creatures and plants. I hope you do other areas !
As a biologist/botanist and big MH fan too I really loved so much your video!! It's also very inspiring cuz I always dreamed doing something similar (but instead of video was illustrating) and my lack of confidence on myself always cheated me 😔 congrats for the video, it's really amazing and I can't wait for the others 🥰
Finally! A channel for the overlap between gamers and plant nerds!!!! Minecraft and Terraria have a myriad of ambiguously named/designed plants, so those are game you could cover
One of my favorite sayings is that any sport, hobby or talent, with enough enthusiasm, passion and dedication, is spellbinding to watch. I know nothing about botany and every single thing in this video was completely new to me, and yet despite no prior knowledge of it all I was enraptured the whole way through. Top marks for information, comedy and presentation!
Just instantly subbed from the pikmin video after seeing incredible quality on the FIRST video on this small channel only to see a new video drop a few minutes ago. Happy to be a part of this journey this content is insanely up my alley.
2 of my favorite game series being covered in your first 2 videos instantly earns you a sub from me. Really great topics, and I love how in depth you were covering the flora of the Ancient Forest which I have not seen done in extensive detail by others. Looking forward to seeing future videos from you in the future. I'm curious if you plan to cover other areas from MH World and even other MH titles, there's a lot of details in background plants from across the series.
Very fun video, i never thought that all mh world flora is based on something in real life, in most cases even on one particular species! I can suggest you to make a video about coral in the coral highlands, as a marine aquarist i found a lot of familiar species there!)
This video was so good! I don’t know why but I think my favorite observation was the nullberries being a bromeliad and looking similar to pineapples. It got me wondering how they taste I a way I haven’t before.
...I've been misreading them as Vitalities for the past SEVEN YEARS. This makes so much more sense... It's nice to see some proper analysis of the plants in these games. I know enough about them to know there was a lot of thought put into the plants, but not enough to actually analyze them myself. Something I'll add is that some might notice the weirdly large number of gymnosperms in the Ancient Forest. The Jurassic Frontier in Generations is the same way. That's because angiosperms didn't become prominent until during or a little after the Cretaceous period. Having so many gymnosperms helps give the maps a more Mesozoic feeling to them. And yes, a certain shark sent me here as well.
Hey I recognize that text effect! That is the jitter title effect right? Lovely video by the way. I knew the team flew to different countries to get accurate depictions of plantlife but i didn't expect them to actually recreate real plants. I thought they'd just take inspiration and do whatever.
Oh yeah, this is EXACTLY what mh needed, a plant expert/passionate fan that can help us other players really appreciate the world we immerse ourselves in. I hope you continue this in Wilds and for the other biomes in World and Iceborne!
I’m glad I found this channel, botany is sadly often overlooked when it comes to speculative biology, and when they are fleshed out it’s usually to explain the diet of animals, while MHW does fall into that somewhat, you can also see the interactions between the different flora within the map, and I just can’t get enough of it, I’ll oftentimes just roam around the ancient forest or the coral highlands and just observe the nature, it’s honestly amazing how real the world feels.
This is super awesome and an angle we often take for granted in the world of MH. There have been so many cool plants across the various maps in the series, so thank you for this!
I’ve been loving your videos so far !! I had no idea you were such a new channel !! I had a small suggestion, can you also add metric measurements when you’re describing things! I had a hard time figuring out how big some of the stuff you were describing was but other than that I admire how thorough you are !
I cant believe how you casually made me remember something I learned from Highschool years ago. Amusing video that highlights level of detail commonly made by Japanese Devs
This is very clever teaching people about many plants type and species from a generally a popular game that put a heavy focus on ecology and not only you've be able to make it interesting you also Made us the viewer appreciate the love and hardwork that the developer team put into this game
I got your Pikmin vid in my recommended and thought it was great, I didn't even think it was your first video because it was very well made. Also, this is the exact kind of video niche I love, biology + MonHun is the perfect mix of my interests
I cant wait to share this with all my monster hunter friends. And yeah, it definitely makes me appreciate games even more- that developers put this much detail even into plants that most players will just run past without a second thought. It adds so much to games
17:20 That's indeed an Araucaria. When developing MH4, the devs traveled to Chile to study the ecosystem, and part of that research was used for World too.
Its a pity that most of the plants grow in shadowy places (realistic, but a pity), because your edit is superb and it makes the video look more amateur that it really is. Truly, 10 out of 10. That is the topic I always think when playing videogames, glad to see a video about it. P.D. I love the flora in Baldurs Gate 3 and pikmin 3 and 4, but I would wait a couple of videos before doing another pikmin video, to add more variety to the channel
The fact you can make out the different plants in this one area alone while saying what type they are shows that the devs really put their all into creating their world. Even the flora of the MH world has a level of care given to them, even if it’s only a tiny bit compared to the monsters.
The moment i read your channel name i knew i would adore this video! The crazy part is that despite my lov of plants, i was right on only about half of these so this was very educational. I remember first playing this (the anjanath didn't help this idea) and thinking many of these plants were based on prehistoric plants. I'd love to hear you go over the complex flora in other biomes as well, especially the rotten vales macabre structure!
I'm very happy that we have someone to study the plants of this wonderful world as well! Welcome to the Monster Hunter community, you've just volunteered yourself to become one of our scholars along the likes of Oceaniz! Surprised you didn't cover the most famous plant (or plants I should say) in the Ancient Forest though. The Ancient Tree! Then again that probably deserves it's own video.
Hey, i LOVED this video! just hearing you nerd out about the details in stuff i never even thought of was fascinating! Please do more with the other areas as well!
another one! yeah! i an a hunter too and i love mizutsune's style and demeanor, likely inspired by the orchid mantis i think. could you do a viva piñata one? (the trouble in paradise game would be ideal) the plants are almost all from real life already, but their designs and roles in the gardens are quite unique! have a good one🌿
I really enjoyed this video learning about more about Botany. Like the palm tree as even though I have them where I lived I always thought they had rings so it’s interesting to find out no they don’t and it made me appreciate the monster world more. Keep up the great work I really enjoy it
Ain't no way they put Spanish Moss in Monster Hunter! LOL Fantastic video! I'm super impressed by the level of detail the designers put into the plants, they clearly have a love for botany. Really glad I found your channel, can't wait to see your future projects!
Tough to be a botanist in Monster Hunter's world. x) Looks like the development team really did their homeworks on plants while making the flora. ^^ Thanks for the fun botanical game studies. ;) Maybe try to see how good they did their homeworks on the local flora of one of the Tomb Raiders (the recent ones)?
Came from Tea, I had a lot of fun watching your analysis on the plant life of Monster Hunter! I would love to hear if you have anything to say about the botany of the other biomes in the game.
I love this type of content! could you cover south scrimshaw? I see a lot of people talking about the whale biology but not about the alien plants that it features!
I have been trying to make my own monster hunter phylogenetic tree, the plants had always stumped me (pun slightly intended) and this helps out a lot! Also, maybe subnautica next?
Would a video about the plants (and Fungi) in the Fallout series be possible? Probably just FO4/76 since the older ones barely feature those iirc? (Only know the fungus in Little Lamplight)
Loved the video! If you're a video game botanist, you surely can do a Plants vs Zombies video! To check if any of those are actual plants and can do all that stuff ^^
This video and you are so good! I loved this! Thanks for educating us, it makes me appreciate the ecology of Monster Hunter even more. Definitely subscribing and looking out for your future videos. I've been playing a lot of The Isle lately, lots of plants there especially for the herbivore dinos, if you want to check it out.
Oh my gog, you have no idea how much I LOVE THIS. I was genuinely freaking out with joy from seeing the title of the video. This is just amazing, I can't think of anything else to say.
I've seen the post and did as you asked, and yes, this is very good💚👍
I’m here as asked and very excited for this
Tea threatened me to be here and I really enjoyed the video. Now please let my family go
Thanks for signal boosting this!
Thx for recommending 😊
Oh this is delightful, wonderful work!

What a researcher was doing before filling out an Optional Quest:
I love these kinds of videos on monster hunter that show the amount of effort put into what really shouldn’t have been that important, but they put that much effort in anyways.
I loved, loved, LOVED this video! Botany is such a sorely underrepresented topic in Monster Hunter's worldbuilding. I'm glad somebody finally took an interest in it.

I like your big words plant woman, subscribed!
*returns to beating Anjanath with hammer*
First ever MH content I've seen to talk about plants in Monster Hunter, congrats to you. You got my like.
Incredible attention to detail, both by you and the MH team. The plants make the world really feel alive.
Aaesome job!
I absolutely LOVE this! I think botany is a pretty underrated part of biology, and in imaginative/speculative biology plants are usually overlooked or even ignored. It's good to know I'm not the only one analyzing video game flora. xD
The ecology hole UHC left can finally be filled.
What happened to unnatural history channel?
@@ausraptor9602 He focuses more on animals not on plants
Yof2210 said what I meant.
I do love how the plants here were designed to both resemble Mesozoic flora while still having the appearance of a modern tropical rainforest!
Hi rugops
@ Oh hi!
Love this, I'd love to see more of this for other areas in monster hunter, as well as explorations of how well the plantlife in monster hunter fits into the wider ecology and climate of different areas, or any interesting implications that the plants might have.

My favorite plant to take a closer look at was the Nulberry- never realized it was a cluster of little blue berries, just assumed it was a single big one!
Was verbally threatened by a talking shark with a hat to be here. Very glad i was, this ROCKS. Keep up the great work, sis.
I don't know why but im getting a big Ellie Sattler energy from this video. She's the archeobotonist in Jurassic Park for those that dont know.
A certain tea drinking shark sent me here. this kinda scratches the right itch for me, same one roanoke does for biology ^^
MHW really did go insanely hard on its environmental dressing, ESPECIALLY in the Ancient Forest and Coral Highlands. So much detail in the flora and fauna
Imagine what wilds is gonna have
Your passion for botany is genuinely contagious! Honestly it's so cool how you put this much effort into this
I was sent here from TeaCommonShark, and I must say this is incredible! I had no idea anyone made monster hunter botany videos! Please keep it up! This was incredible!
Always loved the Ancient Forest, and this makes me appreciate it even more

Finally! A channel for the overlap between gamers and plant nerds!!!!
Minecraft and Terraria have a myriad of ambiguously named/designed plants, so those are game you could cover
Here by threat by the shark and stayed for the sick LORE
This is an absolutely wonderful video!
This is soooo good! Please do more! There are so many more plant types in just the ancient forest alone to cover! I want to know MORE!!!!
can't wait for you to cover the Flora of WILDSPIRE WASTE, CORAL HIGHLANDS and ROTTEN VALE.
Finally, a Botany video on Monster Hunter!
This is the content I need to survive
This was really cool, I'd love to hear you talk about all the weird stuff going on in the Rotten Vale
Thank you SO MUTCH ! I love MH biology and I wanted this video for sooo long ! I REALLY hope you will continue .
One of my favorite sayings is that any sport, hobby or talent, with enough enthusiasm, passion and dedication, is spellbinding to watch. Huh, never really thought about the flora too much, very interesting to see just how much has a solid basis in reality
Tea Common Shark sent me your way! Amazing content ❤! Keep up the great work! You got my sub 😊👍
I hope you do a similar video or content for Monster Hunter Wilds when it comes out!! 😊

Subbed love your content

Erm, actually the coral highlands is predominantly made up of animals as the main producers of the ecosystem are corals! 👆🤓
This is super awesome and an angle we often take for granted in the world of MH. There have been so many cool plants across the various maps in the series, so thank you for this!

I really enjoy watching/listening to people who really enjoy talking about their interests
This video was great! I hope you make one like it when Wilds comes out!
I've learned botany in my home tongue, this is the first time I heard some of the tecnical terms in english, very informative!
Do I see peak? I think I do!

The fish in a top hat brought me here.
Feels like the lectures I've had haha ! All your identification are on point ! I wonder what degree you studied !
Keep going, love your videos !
First you cover Pikmin biology AND then the botany of Monster Hunter????? Fastest i've ever hit a subscribe button!!! Keep up the good work!!!!!!
I like that you put Rathian in the thumbnail since her armor gives you the botany skill 😊
Tough to be a botanist in Monster Hunter's world. x)
Looks like the development team really did their homeworks on plants while making the flora. ^^
Thanks for the fun botanical game studies. ;)

What a lovely concept!
This needs to be supported - subbed!
It's about time we get to see a video tackling the flora side of MonHun...
This makes me look forward to the level of detail wilds will have man
Crazy upload schedule
Monster Hunter for the second video! Let's go!
OH MY GOG!!!!
I love this type of content! could you cover south scrimshaw? I see a lot of people talking about the whale biology but not about the alien plants that it features!
Wow! You've earned a sub! I hope you'll do a Monster Hunter Wilds botanical video when that game comes out. 😊
We need more botanists in MH community, this is soo freaking interesting
I have been trying to make my own monster hunter phylogenetic tree, the plants had always stumped me (pun slightly intended) and this helps out a lot! Also, maybe subnautica next?
I LOVE PLANTS RAAAHHHH 🔥🔥🔥 I APPRECIATE THIS SO MUCH ‼️‼️‼️ THANKYOU VGB 💗 💓 💖
Please do more monster hunter content
Would a video about the plants (and Fungi) in the Fallout series be possible? Probably just FO4/76 since the older ones barely feature those iirc? (Only know the fungus in Little Lamplight)
Absolutely delightful, thank you so much
Good video unbeatable graphics
My favorite is the araucaria pine because I thought they were lepidodendrons when I first saw it in MHW. They look so outlandish and ancient.
Real Scrivener energy with this video.
Nice.
Loved the video! If you're a video game botanist, you surely can do a Plants vs Zombies video! To check if any of those are actual plants and can do all that stuff ^^
