    I just found your videos, watched 2 and subscribed. It all started out with me wanting to get (buy, build, whatever) a vapor blaster for motorcycle restoration. I watched a bunch of videos on the subject until I found your site and I like what you do. Common sense engineering stuff for the person that wants to build their own blaster. I will be ordering plans for a winter build of your smaller wood (brilliant!) wet/dry blast cabinet and that wonderful nozzle. Seriously, you make the other DIY blast cabinet makers look like beginners. I've been riding and wrenching for over 50 years and now that I'm retired, I want to get more sophisticated in my approach to building better machinery than what's for sale by the machine builders and save money at the same time. Thanks for explaining the engineering and physics aspects in detail. The best channel yet!

    If your electrical service is maxed out or you have one good 5HP compressor adding a second with suitable, preferably large bore hose between then (I use 3/4" red pneumatic hose with Chicago couplings and any valves are gate or ball valves for lowest restriction. I plumbed my shops with flex hoses (faster than pipe, effortless reconfiguration, plenty of hose to switch out for long reach outdoor blasting and needle scaling) with minimal hard lines at my compressors and receiver tank. (Receiver tanks often go cheap at auction because most people outside industry don't know what they do. A receiver tank (or even a leftover vertical tank with wheels off a broken consumer junk compressor, but inspect with a cheap borescope to ensure it's not dangerously rusted) near any blaster and plumbed with large bore hose is a performance boost, just remember to let it fill when you feel pressure drop.

    MatthewMCRepair would you consider doing a video about differences in Air Compressors? Scroll vs piston especially. And 1 vs 3 phase. Or 110 vs 220 volt. ? Thanks! Excellent vid!!!

  • @Krishell

    I just got mine yesterday. Compared to my old gun. It's not twice as fast. Probably 100x faster. I tried it for 5 seconds. Was "shocked". Turned off the blaster and sent Matthew a email and thanked for the product. Not only was it faster, but I could turn up the pressure without problems.
    Sadly youtube don't allow video replies. Or else I would make a comparison.
    I almost never buy "expensive" workshop products. But I was frustrated with my old setup. I almost used 1000$ on a new pump. I'm so glad I bought this gun. (I bought the 3#).
    I can't recommend this product enough!

    Yes sir you do have my attention !! Presentation as well your intellect is bullet proof. I will purchase the full meal deal you are offering. I just finished rebuilding my compressor(220 volt single phase) completely from top to bottom(Two stage man killer.) Piston diameter on low side is 4 and 7/16...High side diameter is 2 and 15/16....Stroke is a long one....Flywheel is larger then most(Heavy too!!)...Flywheel speed is 550 rpm....3 belts to run it....Electric motor is rated at 5 horse rotating at 1725 rpm.....Shut down pressure is 175 psi...Cut in at 145 psi....CFM not an issue operating with high flow 3/8 hoses in shop....Additional compressor coming on line soon running 3 phase 10 horse motor....Compressor(2 stage also)....close to same as above.....Thinking about running them them together just for giggles....I understand sir that you rate your gun set up by hp ratings.....Is it possible that flywheel weight and it's inertia on larger compressors like mine offer an advantage with larger mass?? And that being said...5hp motors with heavier rotor mass(Farm duty type) may bring one to think differently on choices of orifice diameters.....Todays compressor motors run fast and generate lots of heat....Todays compressor heads run faster and hotter with smaller pistons...Most 5hp motors turn 3,000 plus rpm...Flywheels smaller then the old ones......I like motors with torque and if possible lower rpm.....Would you still rate my gun set up at 5hp??? Or would we go bigger bad ass set up??........Thank you sir for you thoughts on this matter.......Charlie Springer from Oregon.

    Very Good video with plenty of information included 👍
    The thing that lets these Wet Blasters down the most is ?
    The fact that you are using Water for Blasting ??
    Which is OK, IF ?? you plan to Paint or finish the parts in someway shortly after blasting.
    IF Not the parts will begin to either Rust or Corrode very quickly.
    Just something to be aware of IF you plan to Buy, Build or Use one of these Wet Blasters.
    As much as it might seem like the latest and greatest thing around ??
    Wet Blasters have been around for more than 20 years, and still to find a mainstream end user of this process, as Dry Blasting is still the preferred Blasting process.
    Great work on providing a better alternative to Blasting with a Locally made product.👍
    Hope these items sell well for you.
    As their are not a lot of things worse than standing in front of a Blast Cabinet for too long 🙄😂

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  2 роки тому

      Depends on the application and what you are trying to do. Also, you can put a rust inhibitor in the water to prevent flash rust.

    • @weldmachine
      @weldmachine 2 роки тому

      @@HTMR
      You could put rust inhibitor in the Blast Cabinet.
      But it will break down very quickly.
      As you start blasting, the particles of metals you are blasting will mix in the water.
      I have the same problem if i try to reuse the water in my Tap Burner.
      Regardless of the side effects of Wet Blasting.
      The gun design is big improvement over the standard guns that come with the machines.
      As you mentioned Spare Parts can become a big problem for the lower priced guns.
      In some cases you have no choice, but to buy the more expensive gun you showed in this video because of the lack of spares .

    For those complaining about the price - a few things - 1) go and make one your self, or get one made - the only way you will come out ahead is if you place absolutely no value on your time.
    2) most guys are charging out at around $100 an hour(in Australia and AUD). if you can double your output, it will pay itself back in less than a day. which is awesome ROI.
    3) @matthewMCrepair - loving the rebuttal to some of these muppets in the comments - can you do a test to blast a known surface area and time it. Like 2 identical parts that need cleaning. test with both guns and time results. Do it a few times with different items. Love your work.

      There are different types of anodizing. I use type 2 not hard anodize. Aluminum corrosion does occur in a vapor blast environment and should be considered in gun design. Other guns have issues on disassembly if aluminum is not protected and allowed to corrode.
