Really nice explanation of the imagery here. This is actually kind of how I would imagine iconography being used as a tool to explain and teach to an illiterate population - a visual aide of sorts.

Just curious if anyone has cross-referenced the three levels of the image, seeing the image having Christianity itself in the center level, with Judaism and Islam both above and below?
Islam is indeed a devil religion, while Judaism is just Pre-Christianism that some try to hold on while fighting against the Truth, so also driven by devils.

Its not a fractal. It's a hierarchy, as is every iconostasis. You just may not be familiar with the notion. If it were a fractal, and you actually knew what a fractal was, you could tell me its Haussdorf dimension.
Fractal is a way to convey the meaning that the same rules apply to different levels of the hierarchy.

Anastasi means Resurrection, not descent into Hell, as far as i know.
Anastasis crowns the descent into hell. The highest point of death is resurrection.
