  • This Quick Reference Guide will provide a clear definition and step by step details on how to turn on and off the pre-collision system.
    The TSS Pre-Collision System is designed to help avoid or reduce the crash speed and damage in certain frontal collisions. This advanced safety system is designed to alert you, and may apply the brakes, if it detects a potential frontal collision with another vehicle or in some cases pedestrians.
    It is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness is dependent on many factors including road, weather and vehicle conditions. See Owner's Manual for additional limitations and details.
    Although demonstrated on the 2018 Toyota Camry, this feature is available on various other 2018 Toyota models. See owner’s manual for model specific guidelines and limitations.

    A tip: if your CH R overrides YOU and slams on the brakes, sort of locking them up; when you come to that stop, push back down on the brake pedal to get going again. I learned that out of sheer panic while causing untold problems behind me on the freeway. Not fun.

      You must have an older vehicle. I am seriously considering a Toyota Avalon for this feature alone..as it kicks in at higher speeds than Honda's or Volvo's.

    This has almost caused an accident on multiple occasions! There is no way to permanently turn this off & must be done every time, this is a design flaw & can but, hasn't been addressed! 😠 😡 😤 Please correct 🙏

    Why is it so hard to find, exactly, what it does. All the videos are about how it does it, but literally none want to explain if control of the car is taken away from me or not.

    • @didy22
      @didy22 2 роки тому +4

      Control of the car is definitely taken away. Speaking from experience.

    • @chimichanga-wanga
      @chimichanga-wanga 2 роки тому +7

      Yeah it takes away your ability to control the car the way you want. I was trying to pass to the next lane in my gr86 and sped up but it slowed me down when i was trying to speed from lane to lane to pass slower cars. I feel like it could potentially cause you to get into accident in certain situations. Like i just want full control over my car. Because there are situations that a computer cant perceive

      The braking gives you like a second to jam the brakes before it does it for you. I felt like I had the braking under control and it still jammed them all the way down and I literally flew from my seat before being caught by my seat belts. It is not a pleasant experience. If it does that to you, once the vehicle has stopped, the brake pedal will remain down and you have to press down on it again ( like starting the vehicle) to unlock them.

    I have a simple on/off button for this in my Lexus, so I could easily leave it permanently turned off if I don't mind a blinking orange PCS light.
    The question is why would I want to turn it off?

    • @cxpz7584
      @cxpz7584 11 місяців тому

      If you turn it off, it comes back on when you start the car again. I can't even imagine attempting to do this while driving. Not sure it's possible at all while driving. Imagine being on a highway and encountering construction or a big rig's tire blows and debris scatters.

      Tell that to all the car makers. The sensors are the problem. But really, look how many techno gadgets have been added, to hide the fact they and the gov are forcing the cars to be big blind spots. Saving you so much if you are IN a crash that you cannot avoid one with all their padding and headrests and gigantic pillars.
