I've been doing Bible Recap for going on 3 years now. It motivates me to be in God's Word on a daily basis and it helps me understand how God has been at work. Instead of reading the Bible looking for how it applies to me we're looking for how we're seeing God in what we're reading everyday.
I'm love that your bible is on this list! I was a confessing christian my whole life and had a bible but only ever opened it if I went to church because I thought that was the thing to do. The day after my husband and I got saved, we went to the bible store to get him a new one, and I thought I'd get a book on spiritual warfare. That was the first time I heard from the Holy Spirit, and He said, "You dont need a book on spiritual warefare. You just need my word. All other books are mans interpretation of my word." Needless to say, we went home and sat in our bedroom all day, going verse for verse getting our minds blown! Since then, I have read some other books, but I will never forget that. It's so important, and I love what you shared about comparing it with what we ate last week. We truly are get nourished.
Cs lewis was one of the clearest thinker & writer of the Christian faith. If you haven't read Mere Christianity, you're missing a lot! Even the Chronicles of Narnia has amazing insights into the Christian faith.

He literally put her ability to "forgive" someone above the work of Jesus on the cross. He made it SALVIFIC. I threw that book in the trash and never looked at anything from him again. His ideology completely goes against Jesus' own words in Luke 17:3, and His sacrifice for us.
I'm really glad you included the Bible in your list of books to read. It seems like "duh" BUT many people would rather pick up some other book but we need to hear from our Father. ❤
Another life-changing book from an amazing Christian author: Heaven by Randy Alcorn. Wow! I will never be the same after reading this book. Love all the books you chose as well. Thank you so much!
Great video. New to your channel and when I saw C.S. Lewis second, decided to stick around. I just ordered Strobel and Heiser. Best of all, the last book! The first. BTW, I love the ESV Study Bible, the one I have has massive amounts of footnotes. The CSB translation is great, and an improvement in some areas. And then, the KJV is beautiful, who doesn't love Luke 2 in that translation! Sorry, I could talk about Bibles all day!
I just came across your video from the suggested videos. I love your recommendations, there are loads that interest me and I agree, the Bible is the ultimate book!!
The Cost Of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer is phenomenal; also Jesus Freaks; Safely Home by Randy Alcorn (a novel about the persecuted church in China). My next two will be Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus by Nabeel Qureshi and Creeds, Confessions & Catechisms: A Reader's Edition--edited by Chad Van Dixhoorn.
Thanks for the great list of books! The works of Clive Lewis became a discovery for me last year. I would add the following Lewis books to your list: "Beyond the Silent Planet" and "Perelander". Greetings from unconquered Ukraine!
I'm a big reader but I'm also a book hoarder. Something that has helped me a lot with figuring out whether to buy a physical copy or not, is to listen to it as an audiobook. If it's worth writing notes in, it's worth buying. If it's not, it still was a good listen. Also, check with you local library. I'm constantly surprised with what they have in stock.
A book that really changed me about science and god is “I don’t have enough faith to be an atheist” by frank turek and Norman geisler. I think it’s an amazing resource for people who can’t reconcile god with science.
When my wife and I were courting, we bought each other a book for Christmas. She bought me the book you mentioned and I purchased for her Holiness by JC Ryle. In the preface to it, Ryle criticises the teaching of Hannah Whitall Smith. I would have Ryle all day long over HWS. I still married her and by the Lord's grace, we are still going strong after 38yrs of marriage.
John MacArthur study Bibles are my favorite. I have learned so much from his study notes and sermons. As a side note, he has been in the hospital for over 2 weeks and I know he would be grateful for prayers. I love your book recommendations. I have the Tozer book. Also, The Holiness of God by RC Sproul is a must read. Glad I found your channel. Blessings.
I read Mere Christianity by CSLewis in 1982. I was an agnostic….by the end of the book I was a Christian…..Lewis proved Christianity (to me, at least) without referring to the Bible which, at that time, I thought of as a fairytale. Wonderful book. Another great book is Rome Sweet Home by Dr Scott Hahn…he and his wife tell how they converted to Catholicism after years of committed Protestantism and study at theological college.
Great list. I have read a few of them. I’ve gone to the Ark twice and LOVED it! Also try and go to Creation Museum it’s less than an hour away from the Ark and is also by Ken Hamm
Thanks for putting this list together! I saved them to look into. I have a teen who is very into science & a very logical thinker- who is very much doubting God being real. I think the Answers books might be super helpful!
As someone who went through that stage myself, heres some books that I read that completely solidified in my mind a creator. "Evolution and Christian faith" by Bolton Davidheiser. "Darwins Blackbox" by Michael Behe. Another one that I have not read but have heard good things about is "Darwins Sandcastle". These are written by very science based people who believe in a creator based off of science.
Thank you for this Amy! For Christmas all I really asked family for was books like you’re sharing here to help my Dive even deeper into my studies. I’m so glad I found you on social media before deleting my accounts. I look forward to these longer videos from you in the new year! Prayers for safety and blessings over your family!
Paul David Tripp’s theology is totally grounded in Scripture, and he is an inspired writer, in my opinion. But If I had to pick one book other than the Bible, I think it would be Soul Survivor by Philip Yancey. He recalls some of his own negative experiences with religion and then examines the lives of various people who positively influenced his faith and he shares some of their perceptions of God and Christianity. In particular, his writings about Donne, Dostoevsky, and G.K. Chesterton impacted my thinking tremendously. I read the book years ago, but I have gone back to it time and again.
I encourage you to get on a schedule and read the entire bible. The Grant Horner program of a chapter from 10 sections of the Bible would be very helpful to you. There are UA-cam videos and a PDF.
To throw another out there "The Gift of Pain: Why We Hurt and What We Can Do About It" by Paul Brand & Philip Yancy. It's along the same vein as "Problem of Pain" by C.S. Lewis in that it clearly demonstrated the necessity of pain, that it is actually a gift.
Thank you Amy, I feel like what you described. Stuck!! I meet a couple of times a week with a few people from our Church and sometimes it’s I don’t want to go. But others are counting on me, after a few songs and praying, I feel great, the Holy Spirit does this and it is amazing. Praise God!! A book we read was: Secrets of a Prayer Warrior by Derek Prince I think you will enjoy this. Have an amazing day! Thanks again
Great suggestions!! The book that changed my life aside from the Bible is “Delighting in the Trinity” by Michael Reeves. I wish every Christian would read it!
Most people today don't seem to realize that Mere Christianity was first a radio broadcast and later a published manuscript. That may explain why it feels like a difficult read.
Thank you, I will definitely put them on my list. I am so grateful that I found you on Instagram and now on UA-cam. All glory to God for being able to connect us and for you spreading the good news of the gospel, as well as other books to help us understand how to deal with some of the attacks we suffer each day, whether they are spiritual or just arguments about our faith in Christ that others can't or won't even try to understand. Have a great and blessed day and may you continue to reach people all over the world with His message in Jesus name🙏🏼 Amen.
All of Lee Strobel's books are very good. I didn't read Supernatural, but really like Heiser's Unseen Realm which is a more in-depth version of Supernatural (I think Strobel is coming out with a book on this subject soon). Yes, Blurry Creatures has a lot of interesting shows.
Your feed happened to pop up. I have some credits on audio book so I will definitely listen to these suggestions. I read the amplified version Bible. If I have a hard time understanding I go to The Bible Project on UA-cam. Thx so much!❤
Love hearing your recommendations! I'd love to share a book that transformed my life and marriage.. it really helped me learn so much about God's word about being a wife even though it isn't a christian book itself, God used it in mighty ways to transform me and our marriage and I am so grateful! 20y married. 5 years ago at the door of divorce... God redeems!
So excited to jump into a case for faith! Thanks for the recommendation! Also, if you havnt already read the purpose driven life, it was so life changing for me! Also a super simple read.
So many to recommend for you…1916 Project by Seth Gruber, Change of Affection by Beckett Cook, books by Rosaria Butterfield…her testimony is incredible, and I have more! Love to read!!! And I’m personally cautious with study Bibles especially ones that interpret from a Calvinist view. I’m do not agree with Calvinism so I don’t use the MacArthur or ESV study Bibles. Thx for sharing your reads!
Some more books to look into if you havent already that changed my life! "Holier than thou" by Jackie Perry, "A pilgrims guide to rest" by Theocast, "Darwins blackbox" by michael behe, "Evolution and Christian faith" by Bolton Davidheiser. I give these 4 books so much credit for further forming my faith and the way i understand God
Tactics by Greg Koukl is a must! The Story of Reality by Greg Koukl. Eve in Exile by Rebecca Merkle (Changed. My. Life!) Person of Interest by J. Warner Wallace. Ordinary by Michael Horton
I didn’t love Tactics and here’s why. Yes, asking questions is important, but in the first chapter, Koukl writes about meeting a Wiccan cashier at a convenience store and taking her down the road to encourage her to think about a pro life stance. I feel strongly that he could have used his time much more wisely to share the Gospel with her especially since he would never see her again (he and his wife were on vacation.) Use the “question method” when you have more time with people. Actually, utilize the Holy Spirit when you speak with people, more than using a method. I have been sharing the Gospel for 30+ years and I agree with Ray Comfort, that you can appeal to the intellect all day long and not make inroads, but when you appeal to the conscience, people are quicker to respond to the Gospel. Check out his ministry on youtube. You might think it is really bold, but read the book of Acts and you’ll see how many came to Christ through Peter and Paul and others being bold!
The ark in Kentucky is amazing, you enjoy it-also the creation museum is worth a look-the museum is one I want to go visit didn’t when I was there a couple years ago
Just come across your channel and love this list. Two books I read last year that I’d recommend are The Insanity of God (Ripken) and God’s Smuggler. Also, I’m currently reading I don’t have enough faith to be an Atheist and a new release, A Million Little Miracles by mark Batterson.
Great recommendations, Mere Christianity was one of my favorites! I would personally recommend “Imagine the God of Heaven” by John Burke that book has actually been able to flip agnostics and bring atheists closer to faith.
Thank you for sharing these! I need to reread Mere Christianity. At the top of my list to recommend for any Christian would be The Gospel for Real Life (Jerry Bridges), Life Together (Dietrich Bonhoeffer), Knowing Scripture (RC Sproul), anything by Dale Ortlund. And, it’s a kids’ book but The Biggest Story (Kevin DeYoung) draws out so many threads from the Old Testament and shows how they are fulfilled in Jesus.
Nice video sister!! Beside the book of Hebrews and the Gospel of John which rescued me from the Watchtower cult the most influential book outside the Bible I have read on my Christian journey has been The King Jesus Gospel by Scot McKnight. Highly recommended =]
Excellent selections! Living in a secular society is difficult because there is so much apathy towards God, faith, the Bible, and eternity. I will recommend these selections to our small congregation. Take care & be safe!
I agree! The Bible always first! A series that I really feel like each time I read speaks to something different in my life, is by Sydney Tooman Betts. I have never read something with so much scripture even though it’s fiction, the word is alive and speaks through the storyline! The series is called the people of the book. The first in the series is a river, too deep, light, bird song, and straight flies the arrow.
4:36 I kid you not, I use to own that book, and the other two Answers books. They were foundational, as well as other AIG works, to my study and practice of apologetics.
Read it, highlight it, C S Lewis is a super writer, the 1st part is hard to understand, skip that and move on, it is really 3 books, book 2 &3 are much easier to understand
I’m reading Sitting at the feet of Rabbi Jesus and it’s amazing, it really shows thinks we overlook because we are not from the Jewish culture of Christ’s time.
I highly recommend The Case for Grace by Strobel. I really appreciate his other books that give sound reasons for Christianity. However, I call this book "Apologetics for the Heart." He presents the evidence of transformed lives. Chapter 2 is absolutely incredible.
For a study Bible I'd recommend The Apologetics Study Bible. One book that is not on your list is Church of Cowards by Matt Walsh. This book helped me to read my Bible in a more spiritual manner. I look at it through a spiritual lens. I now understand that sometimes my natural mind can interfere with the spiritual.
Hey there I am new to your channel thank you for sharing your thoughts ! I am currently reading Mere Christianity by C.S Lewis and indeed it is a hard read I thought it be easier but I'll try with an audio maybe that will help out better. One book I recommend to you (not sure if you have read it or mentioned it) is Captivating by John & Stasi Eldredge such a beautiful book made me see our role as a women ( women in general ) such a different way recommend to all readers.
I’m currently reading through this myself, so I’m not yet finished with it, but I highly recommend “Scientism And Secularism: Learning to Respond to a Dangerous Ideology” by J.P. Moreland. It’s very culturally relevant today given that a lot of people subscribe to some form of scientism where we can’t really know anything outside of science, meaning religion, philosophy, and theology are meaningless to knowing truth. Moreland also cites a lot of good sources that can be found in the footnotes that are good books to read as well. So far it’s been a good book for me as a “marketplace missionary” in an engineering field that has of lot of subscribers to scientism as an ideology even if only subconsciously.
Find the Church Fathers and the writings of the early Christians. On the Incarnation by Saint Athanasius is a good place to start and recommended by C.S. Lewis as a book that Christians should read. I also loved Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist, but I'm assuming that you are Protestant and that might challenge some of your beliefs. Becoming a Healing Presence by Rossi was a beautiful book about living as a Christian. My favorite in 2024.
They have Answers books for children. If the big Answers books are overwhelming for you or your family, start with the children ones. Seriously. We read a couple questions every day and the simplistic answers even bless me as an adult.
Reading Mere Christianity now and reading through New Morning Mercies too! Last year, my top reads were Toxic Empathy by Allie Beth Stuckey (absolutely wonderful!) And More Than a Carpenter by Josh McDowell.
I.waited literally 30 years before reading Mere Christianity because I thought i wouldn't understand it, that it would be too deep. I'm so glad I finally read it in 2024. Such a great read. ❤
How to read the Bible by Gordon D Fee & Douglas Stuart is VERY good and will increase the way you interpret and approach the different genres in God's Word. It covers everything from translation concerns to different genres of writing. It helps you to accurately understand the different parts of the Bible especially contextually. It's not just for the more academic scholarly an ng us but is accessible for everyone. It will definitely improve your understanding of the Word of God. Brilliant presentation by the way and top quality books that you recommend. Inspiring. Bless you in our Lord Jesus.
Highly, Highly recommend Toxic Empathy by Allie Beth Stuckey for such a time as this! NY Times Bestseller, released Oct 2024. She is a Christian and I believe anointed by the Lord to write about and discuss the issues and insanity going on today.
What study bible do you have? I have been looking for one and just can’t find one I like. I like the NLT version. If anyone has a suggestion please let me know thanks 😊
Hello Sister, I like what you said “it takes discipline over motivation to read your Bible”. It blessed me, thank you ❤
I'm doing the Bible Recap program this year. SO helpful!!
Me too! My ladies group at church are doing it together!
This is awesome!. The Bible definitely comes first. Thanks for sharing this experience ❤
Cs lewis was one of the clearest thinker & writer of the Christian faith. If you haven't read Mere Christianity, you're missing a lot! Even the Chronicles of Narnia has amazing insights into the Christian faith.
“Stepping Heavenward” by Elisabeth Prentiss is one of the most profound books I’ve ever read! Highly recommend
One of the most impactful books for me besides the Bible is Pilgrims Progress by John Bunyan
When you read “Mere Christianity” or any CS Lewis books-
Read with an English/British accent! It helps so much 😊
Love your list. I’d add “The Awe of God” by John Bevere. The fear of God is needed in the church.
My current read
Be careful with the Beveres: John is the author of THE BAIT OF SATAN, in which he writes about a devout Christian woman being destined for Hell because she couldn't forgive a horrendous crime against her.
He literally put her ability to "forgive" someone above the work of Jesus on the cross. He made it SALVIFIC.
I threw that book in the trash and never looked at anything from him again. His ideology completely goes against Jesus' own words in Luke 17:3, and His sacrifice for us.
Respectable Sins by Jerry Bridges, all Christians need to read this, at least once.
I'm really glad you included the Bible in your list of books to read. It seems like "duh" BUT many people would rather pick up some other book but we need to hear from our Father. ❤
I have one more to add to the list. It’s called “Confessions” by St. Augustine. It is a phenomenal read - and an old read!
Another life-changing book from an amazing Christian author: Heaven by Randy Alcorn. Wow! I will never be the same after reading this book. Love all the books you chose as well. Thank you so much!
When you go to the Ark Encounter you must also go to the museum! Both are amazing and have been added too since we went! So wonderful!

You should look into the Great Adventure Bible!
Pilgrims Progress (Bunyan)
Morning & Evening (Spurgeon)
Streams in the Desert (Cowman)
The Cost Of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer is phenomenal; also Jesus Freaks; Safely Home by Randy Alcorn (a novel about the persecuted church in China). My next two will be Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus by Nabeel Qureshi and Creeds, Confessions & Catechisms: A Reader's Edition--edited by Chad Van Dixhoorn.
Nabeel Qureshi is amazing!
Nabeel Qureshi.....life changing
Any and everything by Bonhoeffer is worth reading.
Case for Faith was already on my TBR, so was Mere Christianity. I'm also reading the whole Bible this year.
Some really great books here!
Thanks for the great list of books!
The works of Clive Lewis became a discovery for me last year.
I would add the following Lewis books to your list: "Beyond the Silent Planet" and "Perelander".

I love Paul David Tripp! My son received this book as a graduation present 3 years ago, we are still reading it! He is awesome, look him up.
Great list thanks you
I have the 4 set of the answers book set and I’ve started it but let distractions get in my way
This is the video I’ve been looking for!!!! 🎉
New follower here love #8 that was good !!
What episode was Dr Heiser on blurry futures, there's three of them two of them called The Forgotten prologue and one of them called ghosts
I agree. Mere Christianity was difficult for me as well. I’m going to try listening to it again. Thank you!
Read it, highlight it, C S Lewis is a super writer, the 1st part is hard to understand, skip that and move on, it is really 3 books, book 2 &3 are much easier to understand
So true. Mere Christianity is sooo hard to read. I left it there. I think I must revisit it! 😅
Don't try to read it straight through. Just one piece at a time. Skip around. It wasn't written as a continuous treatise.
@ got ya!
Thanks for the suggestions. Spiritual Disciplines In The Christian Life by Don Whitney is a must read for all believers imho.
I’m reading Sitting at the feet of Rabbi Jesus and it’s amazing, it really shows thinks we overlook because we are not from the Jewish culture of Christ’s time.
What bible are you using? I love the color
Can I please add a book to this list?
The Mortification of Sin by John Owen.
I highly recommend The Case for Grace by Strobel. I really appreciate his other books that give sound reasons for Christianity. However, I call this book "Apologetics for the Heart." He presents the evidence of transformed lives. Chapter 2 is absolutely incredible.
One of the books that stands out for me "Finding the Heart to Go On by Lynn Anderson . I recommend it 🙏❤️
LOVE THE DEBATE!!!
Highly recommended 'The Soul of Shame' by Curt Thompson MD. God bless!
One of my highly recommended books is ''Uprooting Anger ''by Robert D Jones.
My favorite is Max Lucado and I have 30 of his books (all are good). I also like books by Dr. David Jerimiah.
I highly recommend "The Prodigal God" by Timothy Keller.
The Holy Spirit will always bring the word back to us. It is our spirit that reads and hears the word and He will bring it back to our minds
Super Natural.....so good
What study bible do you have? I have been looking for one and just can’t find one I like. I like the NLT version. If anyone has a suggestion please let me know thanks 😊
Do you have books you would recommend for kids? Preteens
