Man, I loved both versions of this show. They had such distinct writing styles that you could feel the cultural outlooks of the time. Snark vs Sardonics, Pretty vs Practical. Even when the humor overlapped it was played uniquely. It really emphasised the differences between UK and US, which I found really cool and insightful.
Right! Classics
I love British TV but didn't know there was a British version until after I finished the American version and was looking for if there would be another season. I thought the American one was done really well and the actors brought their A game. Plus Jesus they cast the perfect guy to play a werewolf who could use puppy dog eyes as a human 😆
I agree the differences between us and uk are cool to see come out in the show in different ways
@@coganLollins hey can you please do dragon videos like how to train your dragon and kaiju like godzilla and gamera and the dinosaur anime You Are Umasou 2010 since the trexes are OP
Me too
Georges screams during transformation are the absolute most chilling sounds I've ever heard. I absolutely love this show!!
I absolutely agree! They are almost comical but sooo real sounding, like he’s not trying to be cool or tough
@@coganLollins George is tough for going through that every month and not complaining about it
@@desmondedwards6628 Say what? Have you actually seen the show? Because complaining about it is like all he ever does. He's still tough as nails for living with it, I'm just saying.
@@lorehammer40k4 He just complains about losing control when he is in wolf form not because of the pain
@@desmondedwards6628 There are numerous instances of him complaining about the pain and talking about how unimaginable it is. The pain certainly isn't even close to the reason why he hates being a werewolf, I completely agree, but it's not like he just ignores it with a stiff upper lip if we're being realistic here.
One of my favourite things about being human (I haven't seen the US version) is that most vampires looked like completely ordinary people, as opposed to the seductive or intimidating monsters
Shows from the UK generally just have normal looking people in general. I kind of appreciate that as an American where 99% of peolle are 20-40 year old models.
I watched the UK version I liked it, I then tried to watch the US version. It was just disappointment.
I love both versions of the show. I will say the UK version lost me towards the end when it was clearly falling apart and they were trying desperately to hold on. As a result the USA version feels like a more focused and complete story.
When it was finalized that there was a whole new lineup of vampire, ghost and werewolf, it should have ended there, the cycle repeated itself. The ending was confusing and OTT.
Agreed, i preferred the American version. Which is saying something as I'm a Scot. I never finished the uk version, when they replaced everyone I fell off watching.
The US ending had me crying
Noway
It's something that happens often with Steven Moffat, his worldbuilding is great but sometimes he tends to grasp at straws
Something you missed (and I don't blame you, cause it seems most people did) is that before George the werewolf died, he was beginning to grow stronger and stronger, even in his human form.
Usually Mitchell is far stronger than George, but there was a scene where George and Mitchell argued, and George gripped Mitchell's arm. Mitchell tried to casually pull away, but found himself unable to, and even complained that he was hurting him, visibly confused as to how that was even possible.
Sadly, since the main cast were all replaced and the plot got what basically amounts to a reboot, we never got to find out what that meant, and why George was slowly growing stronger even in his human form, to the point of being stronger than a vegan vampire.
The werewolves introduced later had some animal traits while in human form, but they were also clearly strong cafe fighters, so it's a lot harder to tell if their strength was just the strength of a naturally strong human fighter, or enhanced by being a werewolf (especially since they weren't normal people even without the werewolf blood, living more like wolves pretending to be human, than humans with a curse)
But I will never not be annoyed that such a great show got the Sugababes treatment, and had the entire cast replaced, as if anyone was gonna watch what amounted to a completely different show, wearing the skin of a dead show we used to love.
I agree, and I also agree that werewolves can tear apart some of the strongest vampires even Mr snow
The vampires depicted in this show are my favourite of all time, I love how they are almost like addicts. So human yet so animalistic given the circumstances. It really shows the sadness and depression of actually being a vampire.
Loved this show when it first came out. Did get little bit crazy by the end. But was a great dynamic between the three characters.
Ultra violet is another British vampire TV show , didn't run for very long but has idnris Elba in it really good and different take on vampire.
You should look at the Vampires from Young Dracula, it's a kids show but the vampires and the lore around them in that show is really interesting. I loved it show as a kid!
This video was great and Being Human was awesome!
I watched it. It was amazing! Gothic Vampires. 🥰😍🥰
Influenced heavily by Brahm Stoker’s Dracula mov
I'm so glad someone has mentioned Young Dracula! That and Being Human UK are probably my favourite vampire depictions ever
YES, I've been waiting so long for this. I prefer the UK version but the US version has it's appeal. To me, these are the most realistic and scary portrayal of these monsters, not in that they seem plausible in our world but more so that if classic monsters like these existed in our world they'd be as portrayed on the show.
American version was the first one I saw and I love it but the British one is a lot better. Been waiting for this one!
Nah British sucks
Honestly I loved both UK and US version, the US one does divert from the original and the lore is slightly different but I still really enjoyed it.
I'm your 1000th like
So unbelievably glad to see one of my favorite youtubers finally cover this show. Hope to see the us version soon!
Thanks I really appreciate that! And I would definitely like to make a video about the US show eventually
@@coganLollinswell get to it!!!😅
The werewolf transformation s for George are on par with an American werewolf in London..( 1981)...Rick Baker would be proud of the practical effects on this show.
When u said vampires call werewolves dogs I automatically thought about Underworld rise of the Lycans
Great series, great essay, fab! I prefer the UK version, probably for seeing it first but was glad for it getting a broader recognition. And I think (western) Vampires are depicted more feudal and Werewolves more rural, which makes for nice social commentary;o)
Now a couple for your consideration:
- The Gates (vampires, werewolves, succubus in suburbia, hidden gem imo)
- Dreden Files (decent adaptation, werewolves, lycanthropes, hexenwolves and loup garou)
- Jekyll (UK), Jekyll & Hyde (transmogrification, both great in their own regards)
- Lost Girl, Trese (Aswang, Shifter)
- Wellington Paranormal (What we do in the Shadows (movie) spin-off)
- Death Valley (werewolves, vampires, zombies mockumentary)
- Hex, Discovery of Witches (Nephalim)
- Sanctuary (N. Tesla as a vampire)
- The Fades (spirits, gory)
- Point Pleasant (Satan's offspring)
- The Imperfects (Chupacabra, Banshee, Succubus, not a joke;o) )
- Black Blood Brothers, Wolf's Rain (anime)
- 30 monedas and anything by Alex de la Iglesias
- Bastard Son & Devil himself, Motherland Fort Salem (witches)
- Diablero, Los Espookies, Constantine, South of Hell (exorcism)
- Fresh Meat, Dead Set (zombies)
Games: Bloodborne lore and Blackbook, Thea the Awakening/Shattering if you ike slavic folklore like in the Witcher
Movies: Night-/Day-(/Twilight-) Watch, last Vampire Princess (russian), Bloody Mallory (whacky) and last years Renfield had two great Nicholas'^^
Lastly if I may, Kohlrabenschwarz (pitch black ?!) is a short new german series, sort of a bavarian Grimm, great myth and fun! And explains why so many fairy tales have a Hans/Jack^^ Cheers!
Yeeeesss! I've been waiting for you to make this.
Oh, Cogan, since you're reading vampire books I suggest reading: The Pureblood Society. It's a book that's come out in the past few years (it was also written by a friend). It has some shocking scenes and a curious perspective on the supernatural world (as I think it's just the first book in her series).
That’s really cool, thanks for the suggestion I will definitely check it out! 🙏
@@coganLollins Cool!
Bro! Thank you for finally covering this series that I absolutely love, bout damn time. You know u gotta do the US version next right. 😁
Being Human UK was such a good show! I'm so glad you're covering this one
I can’t believe being human is about 15 years old or more I remember watching this show coming home from school every Sunday I think it aired my favourite show every man
Dude hell yeah. Loving the content.
Great video. Thank you for the hard work. This show brings me good memories!
Dude i love your explanations of these amazing epic beings keep up the epic work respect.
Best channel for vampire and other lore. Keep it going
Man i discovered your channel a month ago and i have seen all of your videos, keep it up u have an amazing content :)
I never heard or seen this show but it seemed soo cool im glad you went over it!
Love your content! You need to make a video on the vamps of Salem's lot!
Absolutely love this show, especially Aidan Turner and Stephen Moffat. Also the actor who played the devil. And his TV speech about humanity was scarily spot on. Just *chef's kiss*
It did get a little weird after season 3, like you said, but I was able to get back into it fairly well, and it ended strong! I also appreciate that it didn't get dragged out forever and ever. (Supernatural is prolly my fav TV show ever, but not so much Seasons 12-15)
Loved both versions, met the American cast at a convention.
Brake down the vampires from 1992 “Children of the night!” Movie!
The way they cocoon themselves and lungs pop out of their bodies is so weird! ❤️
I havnt seen that movie but that sounds interesting, thanks for the suggestion 🙏
@@coganLollins it’s free on UA-cam. I highly recommend it! ❤️🔥
This is my absolute favourite show on the planet. I even have Mitchell tattooed 😅
You gotta do the US version now! Love your stuff keep it up!
Love your content great job man and God bless you and your family
Awesome! Thanks Cogan!
The reason why myths say vampires dont have reflections is because mirrors used to be coated in silver which was considered "pure" metal, but should reflect just fine in other surfaces or even modern mirrors since they're not made of silver anymore
And silver nitrate used to be in photography as well that’s also where the myth that vampire can’t be captured photography came from as well
the vampire book recommendation is ACTUALLY amazing thank you for the recommendation
Great video 👌👌👌. I love this show and the u.s version. I discover this show because i like werewolves and i was watching some videos of transformations on youtube and that's how i found out the existence of both shows (for the og u.k version i was a teen and u.s version i was almost 19). I missed these shows 😢
That was great! I’m definitely watching the show 😊
Being Human (British version) was excellent. I feel like watching it again after so many years.
I’d should check it out myself since I’d already seen the American version
Please do the American version next!!! Great video!!!!
Thank you so much For finally getting to be human now you might have to do the US version Love your content Keep up the great work
Thank you! 🙏
Great review, thank you.
The writing and practical effects on this show are so impressive, especially for a TV series. Also the chemistry between the main cast was chefs kiss
I would love to see you do the US version as well as to me they differ a bit and It would be awesome to know your perspective on that.
Great show. Good memories watching it back in the day.
Great video
In the 90s, there was a series called Ultraviolet. It was on Channel 4, I think, in the UK and was directed, again I think, by Joe Aherne. It starred a young Idris Elba and Jack Davenport (from Pirates of the Caribbean). I don't know if you've seen it but it's worth a watch 🧛
Technically what the older werewolf say is true, every-time that you have an injury, like breaking one your bones, when the wound heal, the bone is stronger, that is what martial artist use to make stronger their limbs and have a far pain threshold, but is more easy than done, because you have to support a lot of pain to rise your threshold, you feel like all your body is screaming.
This video deserves more likes and love
Did you make a us version im having trouble finding it also love your videos and thank you for all your hard work your incredible
I'm a massive fan of Being Human UK, it's my favourite show. Just wanted to commend you on a great video, I'd recommend it to any fan of the show.
9.07 reminds me of Da Vinci's last supper(this is a mirror image). I only watched the UK series it was really good, thanks for the video really enjoyed it big thumbs up!
Would love to see a video on the vampires from that new movie on netflix called the invitation. Keep up the good work👍.
Great video!…. 👍
I love the UK “Being Human” series. Thank you for the recap. Could you please review the 2001 movie *The Breed* sometime in the future? (Thank you).
I absolutely enjoyed the British version of being human aidan Turner was great on the show I also enjoyed him on the show poldark
Hey Cogan Can U eventually cover supernatural maybe do a a video for each season even if u dont thats okay keep up the great work!!!!
Werewolves rule
Definitely binging this
Loved this series
what a fantastic series. the early 2000s had great series
i havent watched the show, but i started The Vampire World: Savage Earth and god im loving it. ik this is late but thank you for showing me the book series
I loved this show!! it had it's special quirks
I love Castlevania Lords of Shadows version where the people of an order elevated themselves to the next level and all the bad that was in them was left behind and they became the evil monsters.
Do the movie “ he never died” awesome movie vampire
I loved the design of the UK werewolves compared to the US one. The UK was a slightly darker show but they were both good.
i watched the american version, i just found the show randomly and got hooked on it
I really enjoy your videos, could you please make a video about the vampires from the video game Vampyr. Thanks
1:08 aidan turner is such a beauty. loved him as killi in The Hobbit
Okay the spider at 13:41 genuinely scared me as I was watching this in the dark 😂
Wow the UK version of Being Human looks awesome I've only seen the US version of Being Human and I loved that version but now I think I wanna go watch this British UK version of Being Human because this also looks damn good( oh also Cogan it would be so awesome if you did a video of the vampire movie called Lifeforce it's the weirdest most bonkers most unique vampire movie I've ever seen in my life 🤯🙌)
The British version is really great
They're both really great. I think if you like one then you'd probably like the other
@@greenguy369 awesome ! and I kind of regret watching this full video because now I wish I went into the show full cold turkey but also this video got me interested in watching the show too Lol
@@roderick8167 I still think that a werewolf can take on mr snow because I bet a werewolf can do the same thing he did too
@@desmondedwards8234 oh for real that's awesome, I just started the first episode of UK Being Human loving it so far and I can't wait to see this Mr Snow guy I hope he's very scary as he seems in this video
Not gonna lie, I was engrossed listening to your explanation, up until I heard "The Taint, this is the sweetest blood." lol
brilliant writing and acting
Love both versions of the show. Though it gets really boring when they kept adding new characters but you know it is hard to add new things from a pitched idea.
Anyways, I think I would like to see next is the vampires from the movie, “Daybreakers” there are some that makes sense and why they need to feed on blood. Though the story makes no sense but you get a kick for the action in you’re into it.
The Howling please
I remember when this was on, you know back when TV was good. 😉 Blessings from Scotland. 🙏🏴✌️
great show
I drink in the New Found out, the pub featured in Being Human. I know it sounds stupid but the locals can be pretty strange & the areas where the rest of the series took place apart from the last 2 all have dark pasts . For example the real slave caves under St Mary Readcliffe Cathederal were used, a water pumping station hut on the grounds of Ashton Court where the werewolf changes was used as a hideout in the woods for a local murderer on the run. Strange program indeed, a lot of local background & inside information was used which is why it is so intreguing & compelling. M
AMAZING BEST SHOW OF ALL TIME 🥰❤️❤️❤️
The series was outstanding...
good job
One of the best series ever made
Vampires have the heightened sense of smell. So they either smell doggy or lack of smell from ghosts, being able to determine what they are.
wake up folks, new Cogan vid just dropped
Do the creatures from teen wolf next
I was hoping this was going to cover the U.S. version; which I really enjoyed. I've never seen it's original counterpart but it's on my list to watch
Yes!
Being human was such a good show, the ghost lady made the English one, also when the werewolf dudes forces a shift on the picture of a moon by sheer force of will was the single most badass thing I have ever seen but I also kinda liked the american one
That was such an epic moment
@@coganLollins still gives me chills
@@papafiendish6263 It was badass to me how brutaly George in his wolf form killed Herrick you can just hear the sounds as George rips him limb by limb
Are you going to do a video on the US Being Human vampires as well. They have some differences
Hey bro cool video, i love the being human series. Will you do a review of the american version? Oh and here are some other vamp/wolf flicks to check out:
1. Vampires vs the bronx
2. Vampire in Brooklyn
3. Werewolf the beast among us
4. Wolfcop
5. Wolves(2014)

10. Freaks of nature
11. Eat Locals

The best werewolf transformation I saw in a tv and movie show was from an old tv series back in the late 80's called werewolfs.
Old Nick is another name for the Devil, Saint Nick is Santa's name, if you rearrange "Santa" you get "Satan", *Ghost Sounds*. I probably might check this Series out since this is my first time ever hearing about it.
I'm in the US,so naturally I watched the American version..😀 but I loved it so much!! I actually cried during the very last episode Lol they couldn't have ended it more perfectly..😉
I'd love to watch the British version 👍
I'm from the USA and it's NOT natural to watched US version first. I was a fan of Sam Witwer FIRST and his FYi his new show in the works after fangirling him in Smallville got me to see what the story was abt the original UK and was gobsmacked how good it was, like half the good US sitcoms are from UK first and like usual the original is usually better less watered down gentrified.
@@klyanadkmorr Dude,I found and started the UK vertion..and only after I got good and into it,realized it was incomplete 😫 lol
I'm gonna have to like buy the whole thing,or like get a VPN so I can get it on Netflix..😏
Ughh..🥺 but I have heard,you are absolutely right 💯
You know what one of my all time favorite shows ever is??
Top 3 favs for sure!! 👍
Have you ever watched "Sherlock"?
Yo..Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are soooo great in it 😁
i requested this!
Make one about Salem's Lot!!!!
Vampire World is excellent. I've listened to it in its entirety on Audible.

I loved this show, even the American version.
god i hope at some point i can really make my writing stuff into a movie so you will review it >
