Approximately 60 years ago my younger brother and I were with my dad who left us alone while doing some business one evening at Tulane Medical School in New Orleans. We had complete run of the hospital and ended up on one floor where the hallways were lined with cabinets of human abnormalities. We grew up big time that night and received the best school experience possible; getting the full story of the human experience, including a priceless look into what can go wrong even before birth. We both rarely had any nightmares after this because we had exposure of real monsters safely entombed in formaldehyde. This experience directly led to my fascination of biology, chemistry and microscopes. Years later my brother and I, who now ran my fathers business, would mention our experience to the present staff at Tulane Med School and without exception they would say that we should never have been there! We are both very glad we were.
My high school health careers class took a tour of the Tulane dental school. We went to the room where they kept cadavers for dissection. There were these huge stainless steel vats in the room. As our class is looking at the room, the tour guide states there are no bodies there at the time as it is in between semesters. This classmate of mine, Pat, decides to open one and look in, and immediately screams at the top of her lungs. Apparently,( I am glad I didn't see) a spare foot etc had been left behind and was a nice shade of green.

So Mike, I was a surgical tech for almost 20 years (2001-2020) and i have seen more than one toxic mega colon. They tend to catch it before it gets as bad as that one but it’s from a genetic condition where the nerve supply to the colon is interrupted. I lived in Philly for a few years and visited the Mutters Museum a couple of times. I can honestly tell you from personal experience, Mike's reactions were genuine.
The Mutter Museum is a very cool place. The thing to think about is where they got all the specimens, particularly the fetal skeletons from just after conception until birth.
One of the best segments yet. Ordering my Mütter Museum hat right now. Anna seems like a real down to earth happy funny lady. Thank you for what you all do.

I am DYING to go to this museum; have been for a very long time. Thank you for showcasing it. There is so much to learn from places like this, and we continue to learn so much about ourselves when we study the human body and all it's blessings and horrors.
@dinosaurwoman7253 Sounds as if you want to go there you better make it soon. Previous comments in this section state that the Board of the College (Museum) are going to disband the Museum (trying to get rid of it). They must be crazy - it sounds like it is a real treasure.

Most visitors don't get that honour I bet. Plus _what_ a fascinating museum! I actually _did_ always wonder why we used to call conjoined twins "siamese twins" ... well, now I know! Unfortunately the Mütter channel has been one of the clearest examples of how the upper echelon at the college are actively wiping the Mütter off the map. Their aim is to completely remove all traces of any educational material related to human remains. For a museum of human remains. Please, if you’ve learned from and love the Mütter, GET LOUD. As someone in the medical field, you know how critical education is. The vast research base of the Mütter is being dismantled, and it’s up to those who recognize it’s value and uniqueness who can help us #savethemutter by GETTING LOUD!

I've missed you Mike Rowe!! I'm so glad you have a UA-cam channel. I haven't had cable TV in about 5 years. This video gave me a flashback to nursing school! You never disappoint! Haha
Great video but please make more of ones to enlighten people. I stumbled upon someone complaining in your comment section about loosing job and seeking for help. Having multiple income sources is very crucial to financial growth.
Good words. Investments has always been the ultimate option, it benefits even more when you have several investment which gives you greater advantage and more source of income.
I realized the benefits of investing. My source of income had previously been my job. But I lost my job when the pandemic started and I had to live with the little I had in my savings which really affected my plans.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. For the past four years, my income has never been dependent on any firm or work place, because I chose to invest and the more money I get the more I seek for new investment opportunities.
Mike absolutely influenced my life in a positive way. I used to watch when I was a kid and, i realized I wanted to marry a very handsome, hard working, hard labor man. My dad cleans porta potties, every day. And, I still remember your episode about working with a guy that did that. And.... Thank you, I think it showed people perspective and, it made me feel less embarrassed about my dad. Thank you.
I did some more research on the man with the huge colon. He had bowel issues his entire life, and would sometimes go as long as a MONTH without a bowel movement. He was known as the "Balloon Man" in human exhibits. When he was only 29, he was found dead in a bathroom trying to pass a bowel movement. He most likely had Hirschsprung’s disease. This poor man lived a miserable existence, I can only hope he found peace.
This is brilliant. Mike Rowe's style always shone brightest when he had a guest that he could rapport with. I remember way back in the Dirty Jobs days some of the people on that show never really "got him" and were just super dry and boring and never really engaged with his gruff sarcasm and he was left just basically making jokes for himself on camera. But when a guest can keep up with him and throw it back in his face equally it's beautiful haha. This woman is perfect for her job and was an awesome feature.
Mike rocks! Glad he’s still going. He was down the rd from my shop n sorry I missed him. He seems real. N not a script kinda guy like most of the bs reality shows.
I first went to the Mutter on a weekend trip with the Boy Scouts. You can imagine how much a group of teenage boys enjoyed this place! About 20 years later and now an Emergency Medical Professional, I'm still fascinated by the human body even at it's most gross and grotesque. As someone on TV once said... "Scouting trains you to deal with your discomfort. It trains you to do the thing you don't want to do. And over time I realized it does something else, too. It trains you to like it."
Retired nurse here, and I think that it's a rare thing to have people who can be inquisitive and intrigued by gross and gory things instead of grossed out by them. Medical professionals are an awesome breed of people!
Have visited here, interesting and weird. Best part of the trip was a lovely museum cafe lunch - cannot remember which museum; the paintings and sculptures were soothing after the Mutter. I loved seeing it, as a medical person. Not for the faint of heart or incurious. A Philadelphia treasure. Thank You Mike and Team! 🤗
She is a national treasure! I lived near Philadelphia as a kid and visited the Mutter multiple times. I miss it, but I LOVE the videos she shares from there! I believe my daughter bought a stuffy Ebola.
I have been there so many times! I had a summer job around the corner, and would wander around at lunch a couple of times a week. An endlessly fascinating place.
I always wanted to visit this museum... I actually have a book about it. Thanks for this great video - Anna is a true delight and together with Mike, they made this tour outstanding!
"While attending Art School [The Hussian School of Art, Philly] in the mid-1970's, my fellow Art Students & I frequently visited this fantastic Museum and would spend the entire day drawing various specimens!! Great fun, indeed, had by all...!!"
We need to figure out how to preserve Mike Rowe. He’s a gotdamn national treasure. 🇺🇸 Anna killed it too!!! She is doing education the right way!! Keep it up, inspiring the next generation. 😊

I grew up watching shows like Dirty Jobs and Deadliest Catch, and I was today's years old when I found this youtube channel. And Mike has never changed. Love it!
These two are educational and comedy gold. I love them together! We need a three-way collab with Caitlyn.
Definitely agree to that!
Yes, that would be great!
She is the epitome of an empowered, confident and successful woman. Who is in a position of power based on her merits. She is awesome.
plenty of women are successful, shes great because of her personality.
Facts.
Now those two together make a great team. They were so much fun to watch. I really enjoyed watching Mike at the museum with Anna.
What a great episode. Anna is fantastic! Her and Mike did great together! We need a sequel.
What a lovely banter. Similar wit and humor, these two make a very entertaining pair. I could see them working together on future episodes. Thank you both for a really fun, informative show.
These two should become partners for a new show! They mesh well together.
I think Mike was actually super respectful of the specimens and deceased here. Thank you for being so tasteful.
I can't be the only one who laughed out loud at certain points of this video. LOVED it! Thanks Mike and Anna.
I lived in Philly for a few years and visited the Mutters Museum a couple of times. I can honestly tell you from personal experience, Mike's reactions were genuine.
I’m in south jersey and never heard of this place until today.
@@lucyscott736 Its a must see.
The Mutter Museum is a very cool place. The thing to think about is where they got all the specimens, particularly the fetal skeletons from just after conception until birth.
Did you get a plush stem cell?
I've been there. It's a fascinating place.
Thank you!!!! This was so much fun! I have always wanted to go there but, I'm sure it wouldn't be as much fun as I had watching this episode.
Mike can make anybody feel at ease. He is fun to watch.
The little boy mischievousness is so much fun to watch! ♥️
It was like he was her irritating brother. Golden.
One of the best segments yet. Ordering my Mütter Museum hat right now. Anna seems like a real down to earth happy funny lady. Thank you for what you all do.
"You're so weird. Show me something else." 😂 I subscribed immediately.
Old quarter Philadelphia is gorgeous! Anna is brilliant with a terrific sense of humour and very keen intelligence
As a retired nurse I could spend hours in there at the Mütter Museum. Thank you Rickie for the suggestion. Cool Mike loved your reactions 🤣🤣Only you could turn a ancient stethoscope into a duck call. LOL 🦆🦆
I am DYING to go to this museum; have been for a very long time. Thank you for showcasing it. There is so much to learn from places like this, and we continue to learn so much about ourselves when we study the human body and all it's blessings and horrors.
Perhaps 'dying' is not the best word here. You might get what you wish for. :)
@@PhilJonesIII 😂😂😂 very true!
ehem not really the right word cause if you die with an interesting condition you may go there but not really the way you had in mind.....
Lots of freaky-ass stuff, but it'll be damned interesting-if you don't lose your shit and flee screaming!
@dinosaurwoman7253 Sounds as if you want to go there you better make it soon. Previous comments in this section state that the Board of the College (Museum) are going to disband the Museum (trying to get rid of it). They must be crazy - it sounds like it is a real treasure.
You could have a 2-hour special starring both of you doing a thorough tour of the Mütter Museum.
I've been reading some of the comments and I have to agree with you all, I would love to watch more of Mike Rowe and Anna lmao 🤣😂 absolutely hilarious and full of information, I love it.
Mike Rowe never ceases to amaze. Hit show after hit show after hit show. And all educational mixed with the American dream. Never stop Mr Rowe.
She is amazing!! Anna is 100% a national treasure, to be protected at _all_ costs! It's _sooo_ cool that Mike got to actually _interact_ with some of the exhibits! Most visitors don't get that honour I bet. Plus _what_ a fascinating museum! I actually _did_ always wonder why we used to call conjoined twins "siamese twins" ... well, now I know! This was just an awesome video from start to end! 😊
The reason Anna is so much fun to listen too, is that if you don't have an insane sense of humor, you would quickly go crazy in the job. Thank you Anna and Mike for this wild tour.
That fellow deserves all the fame and fortune that he gets. I have seen some interesting locations due too him and his show that I would not of otherwise seen. Keep up the good work Sir.
I’m so glad I just randomly found this channel. I used to watch Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. Instantly subbed!
I freaking LOVE this museum, the thing you see and learn there are a one in a million experience.
Anna is amazing, I have been subscribe to the Mütter UA-cam channel for years and Anna is a big reason why!! So happy to see her here!!!
We can still #savethemutter
As someone in the medical field, you know how critical education is. The vast research base of the Mütter is being dismantled, and it’s up to those who recognize it’s value and uniqueness who can help us #savethemutter by GETTING LOUD!
I noticed that when I went to have a look at the chanel the other day, I had no clue those where the underlying motives. I live in Europa and not in anyway related to any college or uni so that college related info had not found me. Will for sure try to do my small part. Information should be available to everyone everywhere!!! #savethemutter
That was the most delightful segment I've seen on You Tube in YEARS!! I smiled and laughed so many times.... absolutely enjoyable. Thank you so much. It was not only interesting but funny, deep and informative. You're both naturals. The team/crew must have had the best day ever!! I'm going to look for more. DELIGHTFUL and Mike is such a gem.
Mike you are the MAN. Thank you and your crew for all the years of providing an education beyond my wildest dreams. It is a shame you didn’t make it while the Civil War exhibit was going on. Truly amazing and it belongs to society.
It's amazing how quickly they pick up on each other's abilities and start riffing off them. Their synergy and adaptability make for some really entertaining moments!
Mike Rowe is such a character. He cracks me up.
OH MY GOD! I seriously thought Mike was only doing voice overs. I'm so happy to have found out, today, that Mike is still doing stuff like this. Love me some Mike Rowe. I wish he was in more stuff. Cameos. Random roles in movies.
I've missed you Mike Rowe!! I'm so glad you have a UA-cam channel. I haven't had cable TV in about 5 years. This video gave me a flashback to nursing school! You never disappoint! Haha
Mike Rowe is The Man!
Unfortunately having a job doesn't mean security. So I really appreciate John Joseph's transparency and help on my trades.
I came across this name John Joseph when I was really looking to start up some investments. But I wasn't given much information about him.
Anna deserves her own network TV show. She really shines and that isn't just because of Mike.
Thank you.
I have not seen Mr. Rowe in quite a few years. I always wondered what happened to you and it is great to see that you are still doing this.
Anna is the absolute perfect choice for a curator at that Museum. Her and Mike compliment each other. Great Video as always.
Hysterical. The Mutter Museum is amazing. In our family, we refer to it as "The Spare Parts Museum". Always a great visit :)
There chemistry together was on point. I would love to watch more of them together
Same- that was a through and through delight to witness.
their
i like how they breezed past the GIGANTIC no cameras, recording, etc. sign with their cameras recording
A visit to the museum is on my bucket list. This is the best presentation on the Mutter Museum I’ve seen. Anna is fabulous!
“A colon the size of a mermaid.”
Mike, you are truly a renaissance man.
Wow, that's the first time I've seen Mike meet his match, personality wise. Great episode!
I always wanted to visit this museum... I actually have a book about it. Thanks for this great video - Anna is a true delight and together with Mike, they made this tour outstanding!
Anna.... You Rock! What an awesome sense of humor! ... Ya Mike, you were o.k. too...lolol
"While attending Art School [The Hussian School of Art, Philly] in the mid-1970's, my fellow Art Students & I frequently visited this fantastic Museum and would spend the entire day drawing various specimens!! Great fun, indeed, had by all...!!"
Thank you Mike for going to the places that most of us never experience. Your sense of humor is quite enjoyable!!
What a doll Anna is. Hilarious. Mike you’re like a 12 yr old with the squeaky toy 😂. Loved this !
We need to figure out how to preserve Mike Rowe. He’s a gotdamn national treasure. 🇺🇸 Anna killed it too!!! She is doing education the right way!! Keep it up, inspiring the next generation. 😊
I love what Mike Rowe creates. He's the best at it and he looks how I feel. 😆
I’ve been in healthcare for over 30 years and I absolutely love this stuff!!! Thank you for visiting the museum and sharing it with us❤
Retired nurse here, and I would absolutely love to go there!
I loved their public service announcement 😂 it was the best!
Can’t wait to visit this museum in June! So glad my teenage son picked this from our Philly list of things to do. 😃
Both of you together have an amazing, funny charisma that is so worth watching and listening to.! Thank you both for uplifted my day! 💜🙏🏻
My dad was a life long golfer and he had a “horn” on the top of his head. It was about 3 inches tall before it was removed. 😊
This museum is a wonder. To see what the human body has endured from all types of ailments, how the body reacts to the environment one lived in , and our hosts were so entertaining an informative. Our bodies are amazing!
Mike Rowe is a national treasure.
Fabulous. I *really* enjoyed that. I loved human biology at school and am still fascinated by bodies and how everything works. Anna is *Brilliant*!
