The best host ever. What upsets me is how many people die from going to the hospital when they need plenty of fresh air good today and friends which hospitals provide none of that. God bless Allen and his wonderful wife Betty.
I am from the UK and too young to know who he was but came across Password and he blew me away, what a professional and a nice man. Loved the way he said "Hi Doll" and gave that look to the audience before he went over to the guests. Heartbreaking he died so young, he and Betty were so good together. At least he left his mark in this world. I hope they are re-united now.
Saw him during a taping of a Password show. Betty White was in the studio audience and during a commercial break he had her stand up and introduced her...class act!
@@tj-ez2jq she said he was a tough act to follow. She said that kind of love only comes around once in life & what they had was extremely rare. Hollywood knew about them.i read somewhere they were the love of each other's lives. She has said several times he was the love of her life. They had a lot in common.
Allen Ludden was a really exceptional game show host, and he was really fun to watch on Password. Allen Ludden and Betty White also seemed like a happy couple, and their marriage is the type that will never be rivalled.
i saw Password and started watching it I didn't know he passed away than there was Betty white. I loved the show than I found out he passed away which it was a shock . He was a lovely person and so was he's wife, it is very sad they are both together in heaven, GOD BLESS THERE SOULLS I miss them both.
He was my favorite game show host! When I was about eight(1972), I remarked to my mom that he sure flirted a lot with Betty White on Password. She said, "That's because they are married!"
And he the great speaking voice Plus I liked that he always had that gleaming smile.. That shine through with with that smile and he glasses that made him look pretty handsome
I remember watching Million Dollar Password and Betty White was on there. They showed how her and Allen met on the original Password Game Show. I couldn't believe how good it looked. Betty started to cry and I felt so bad for her.
Well I think there's all because of the pandemic everybody was in a lockdown and have to do things from home.. I guess it's a narrator made a soundproof studio if would have been in a bathroom
Well, you got rid of the dog barking halfway through, if you were a real professional you would’ve redone the first part it’s not like it was live and you had to get the people back. I won’t be subscribing. There’s lots of your type of videos available on UA-cam the care about what they post.
I remember Alan Luden when he hosted password in the 60's. My folks always tuned in to watch password they never missed that show. Why do things have to be a sad ending ? He did well for himself because he was successful at what he did. He certainly had a beautiful wife which was Betty White. They were a well known couple and Betty is well-known actress. Everybody grows old gets sick and dies. He didn't suffer any tragedies, it was unfortunate that he suffered from stomach cancer. Dispite that he kept going because the man was a fighter until he couldn't go on any longer.
To Barbara Wilson: Yes they were married if you watch the first episode that of the original password game show when Betty White and Allen Ludden were first married in nineteen sixty three when Allen give the word of the day Allen the word of the day is home and Betty and says will take me home please Mr Ludden and to that Allen answers to Betty was certainly will Mrs Ludden and Allen reach out for Betty's hand and when Betty gave her hand to Allen pulled podium up on with him and smiled happily at his new wife. And then their was another episode four years later it was a turnament of champions episode in nineteen sixty seven when Allen came back from commercials break Allen said the lady celebrate playing this week is a lady I married four years ago to day happy anniversary Betty White.
Allen Ludden was well known as the game show emcee that occasionally wore the leisure jackets over turtleneck sweaters whether it was on Password (ABC) or Password Plus (NBC). Other game show emcees briefly mimick his style (i.e. Gene Rayburn in an episode of Match Game '75 congradulating Bobby Van for his new show on ABC "Showoffs") but Allen Ludden did it best.
It was popular in those days that men and women wore turtleneck sweaters with their sports jackets. Something you don't see hardly and people looked cool wearing that in those days. In our Junior High Band we wore turtleneck sweaters under blazer jacket. But marching down the streets in a parade on a hot day and the perspiration running down. But that sort of dress looked cool because that was the norm of the day. That's how we dressed in our band uniforms in the early 1970's.
@@joegongora2200 Back when I attended middle and senior high school during the late 1980s, early 1990s, some of the students, mostly ladies wore their turtleneck sweaters over their sweatshirts and sometimes t-shirts. Even the school bus drivers and libraries followed that trend while the teachers wore them over wool sweaters and sometimes over long sleeved collared button down shirts at times. The high school band in which my sister did participate in wore white (sometimes black) t-necks over red sweatshirts representing the high school band themselves. For some reason, I always find that look attractive which seems to be lesser common by the time I entered college during the second half of the 1990s. I still have the spare red sweatshirt my sister wore during band (I was six grades ahead of her) but not the white turtleneck unfortunately.
Alan certainly didn't look his age even well into the 1970s. Betty White's love of her life and 40 years later she's never remarried. There will never be a Password again without Alan.
Really. The "sad ending" stuff wears me out. Normal deaths. My brothers were 17 & 25, respectively, and my grandchikd, 60 days old .. still, no "sad" ending if one believes in our heavenly Father's Eternally loving in heaven, without even a memory of sadness.
My sister and I would watch Password on TV when growing up. My favorite is the appearance of Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, who made many appearances on that show.
They were loving couple I love their distinct voices and Allen had a great voice on the show and always that gleaming smile always kept looking at the camera. It felt like the show was mostly about him and his reaction then the password guests. That's why I like about Alan he was an attention getter.. So is Betty White was a great distinct voice that held up for so many decades. And her personality and acting you couldn't tell if it was real or she was just putting us on.. it's nice UA-cam affords us to learn more about these great people that we grow up knowing only for short time. Thanks for distribute to Allen
To the narrator: Please try to find more silent place where dog barkings etc. don’t disturb. And when you read directly from a book or Wikipedia, please give the credits to those who made the real work. Your voice is well suited for narration, just try to minimise the background noise. Thanks.
Why name it with "Sad ending". Most of these people had a good life & died of natural causes. All of us get old & die. That's not a sad ending. You people are making many positive stories negative. You should be ashamed.
in charge of Entertainment ... and was awarded the bronze star? Any breach causing bleeding 'earned' one a Bronze Star, so I'm wondering how that was earned, as he surely was not assigned to a dangerous or combat-related position. I'm only curious, ya know?
That's a good point he must have been about 24 when he served not in any dangerous situations but in the entertainment field. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤨 I guess a lot of Hollywood people of draft age got off that easy also. It seems that world War II wasn't a serious enough war that would take every man the fight on the front lines with no privilege status accepted or tolerated.. my dad was drafted at the age of 35 and that was cut off age. My father suffered and survived a heart attack during the blitzkrit in London. I didn't know the military put favoritism in front of servitism.. oh well I'll never forget my father or my mother who live during the three wars while she and her family moved back to Greece from Boston right before the three wars first by Italy's mussolinians, then the Nazis and the Communists. Thank God her family was gathered up and rescued by the state department because they were born in Massachusetts
I saw him on a Tattletales episode and he said that he would never retire from working. With that said, I would think that he and his agent would find other game shows for him to host if he was still alive. Betty will turn 100 on Jan. 17, 2022, and she is still working.
First of all, so-called ''Allen Ellsworth Ludden" was not his real name. I think it's a disgrace and shows complete disrespect of one's heritage to change their birth name, unless when a woman gets married. If a woman gets married and DOESN'T change her last name, that shows disrespect to her husband. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the name "Allen Packard Ellsworth'. The change was probably made as a result of pressure from a greedy Business Manager and or Studio, with respect to perceived anticipation of greater recognition and subsequent monetary gain?! Furthermore, what's with the ridiculous looking glasses he wore over time?

Really a sad ending at 63 for a classic and dear man. Betty's heart was so broken that she never married again. What a lovely couple.

Million dollar password was hosted by the late regis Philbin on cbs
I always wondered where the "Hi Doll" line came from and the meaning behind it. Now that I know, it's very heartwarming to know.
I also wondered. I thought it was directed to Betty. This makes me even happier that he said it for his mother-in-law.
