@@ApXucBuHsorry to break it to you but classes have always been fighting styles Demoknight - Close Quarters Grounded Style This way excels at taking out high priority targets Demoman - Ranged bomber especialist This way excels at KABLOOM HybridKnight - Less effective mix of grounded or air styles This way doesnt really excel FlightKnight - Close Quarters Aerial unit This way excels at catching people by surprise with its added mobility, although it is less effective than demoknight
Nobody talks about it because 1. The swords have a longer deploy speed, 2. Charging with a shield gives you melee crits, 3. Shields have on-demand movement, while the sticky jumper requires you to wait for the detonation timer, 4. Equipping boots and a shield instead gives you a (much-wanted!) movement speed bonus, and 5. There are two other buffs from the boots (namely the charge turning control and charge refill bonus) that become completely useless when equipping the sticky jumper.
No-one who plays demoknight is playing it because it's optimal. Likewise for this even worse subclass. The point is that it's fun. Comparing stats to another sub-optimal meme class seems a little pointless
Bro I've been playing this for a few months, I've called it JumperKnight. I highly doubt I was somehow a factor in this trend but it's cool to see I did this before it was a commonly known idea.
One of my favorite loadouts to run is Loose Cannon, Sticky Jumper and Half-Zatoichi. I didn’t say it’s effective, but it’s fun as hell when the stars align for a sick dive bombing and touching up my health with the Zatoichi.
Underrated team synergy, but Demoflight pairs extremely well with Quick-Fix Medics. Not only does the healspeed artificially inflate the Demo's bulk, but this ends up being a great way to drop the Medic anywhere on the map. With Rocket Jumping you're limited to the high speeds and lower altitudes of the Soldier's movement. Sticky Jumping not only gets you similar amounts of momentum, but you get way higher heights and can disengage from the Demo whenever and land perfectly onto the battlefield in a more advantageous position. A Medic dropping in from the sky to save a Heavy-Soldier push on the enemy team could actually save the game.
For an alternate jumping demoknight, you can use loose cannon as primary, which allows you to jump for a much more than reasonable distance, and lets you keep your shield for crits and trimping. It's the MAXIMUM movement loadout.
Before I had good enough computer to play tf2 on detailed maps, I used to play cp_orange alot and I was eating snipers as breakfast with flying demoknight
Youre using the basejumper wrong or at least not to its full potential. The flying demoman is my main, i have like 300h on this specific playstyle. Its primary use is negating all fall damage by deploying and closing it right next to the ground miliseconds before landing. This allows you complete freedom when it comes to mobility and makes you way stealthier. It can also be used to make your jump trajectories significantly more unpredictable by sticky jumping with it already deployed and closing it midflight, useful when it comes to throwing off snipers. I find that the best allaround melee weapon for the playstyle is actually stock becayse of the random crits and faster switch speed, the eyelander is second and the skullcater and zatoichi come in third.
I think the problem with the base jumper in your case is you're deploying it at the peak of your jump where you're up way too high to do anything, you're supposed to use it just before you land to glide over enemies slightly (not effective but still) and to actually mitigate the fall damage and still be able to move around
funny thing is that i main this class, but not in the real tf2, instead on the roblox version of tf2 (it gets constant updates :) ), and it works like wonders since nobody expects a random man with an axe to fly at them and do 78 damage per hit. there's also the fact that the bootleg equivalent doesn't require a shield for the speed bonus and that demo in that game has base 25 health higher then normal demo from tf2
Playing Demo like this is so fun. Especially on maps with plenty of air room. Sometimes you get lucky with several kills and sometimes you just die instantly lol Personally i still equipment the grenade launcher though
I think i create another subclass Demo Fly "you can easily go to high spots and it way faster than solder. I add loose cannon because it can push you in air" Loose Cannon sticky jumper any melee
you talked about how the lack of melee crits is a big downside to the demoflight Have you considered using the scotman's skullcutter? we might not have guaranteed crits but we do have random crits, a lot of them
We call him Demoflight
This should be lore cannon name.
HELL YEAH we call him demoflight. I thought abt this name 2 years ago and thought it was really funny
knight o' flight
The AngelKnight
The jump knigth
"They fly now?" "they fly now."
demoflight my beloved
Subclass here subclass there, EVERYTHING IS A SUBCLASS NOW!
Except for those are not subclasses but combat styles (as seen in MKX, where kombatants have three different fight styles)
@@ApXucBuH different game. though yeah, demoknight is pretty much the only genuine subclass in tf2. Except for possibly the huntsman.

Through years of evolution the Demoknights have evolved flight.

As someone who's merely dabbled in Demoknight, I might have to try this sub-subclass.
I wish the sticky jumper was a primary. Imagine this with a shield charges.
That would be mega fast combined with caber jumps
just go hybrid knight?
@@Weldedhodag you want us to sticky jump with pipes?
Would be kinda strange if you had an alt fire detonate both regular and jumper stickies
Also just having 2 sticky launchers in general

Use scottmans skull cutter for those flying random crits

Honestly a super funny concept and it arguably would be oppressive with the skullcutter crits.

very noice vid had fun waching it
Using the skull cutter whilst base jumping is evil.

I've seen a Demoman doing this once on Double Cross but with Scotsman's Skullcutter.
This is the whole reason we need gunboats, just like for hybrid trolldier
Alternatively known as Kamikaze Knight.
Great video edition!
You forgot the other solution for crits: equip the pan
how did i never come up with this

Atp demoflight should be categorized as a subsubclass
No need to wait for your charge to recharge when you have no shield to recharge

This version of demoman has been used for so long and is known as one of the "meme" loadouts.
One where people use for shit and giggles

That’s a great suggestion, particularly for those more comfortable with hybrid knights :)
I use the loose cannon with the Scull Cutter and the sticky jumper, I'll consider giving this a try.

Probably because its just Market Gardening without _needing_ to be airborne.
Yes dude! It has a skill ceiling similar to the market gardener!
unrelated to the drunken bird, old sticky jumper model or new sticky jumper model? whats better

Jumper knight?, demoflight if you have the caber would it be jumper caber
DemoFight or DemoFlight response.
i do this with skullcutter and go on badwater or high tower and just bully snipers

now do boots + stickybomb (sticky tank)
scrap the boots in this loadout imo.
