    I played this call on a speaker out my back door. There was an immediate response! I played the three calls again, pausing between each one. Again, responses, but nearer than the first. Then I realized the stress that I was giving to the poor love-sick blighter out in the trees. I switched off the rest of the lights, went upstairs, and pulled the sheets up to my chin. When I drifted off a half hour later, the poor sod was still calling out, hoping that the new girl would answer him again.

    Thank you for posting this. I just heard the EXACT same sound, every 23-28 seconds. Just after midnight in western New York.

    Saw my first owl ever in my life this past December (a big, beautiful Barred Owl), just before Dawn, in the swamp next to where I live. Amazing & majestic - HUGE eyes!

      Se voce ainda nao ouviu podera ouvir o chamado do baby asking for the parents to bring food. It sounds like a squeek and the baby is a ball of white fluffy feathers.

    You know, I do this EXACT routine every morning when I first exit my front door for years. It hasn’t done a gosh-darn thing for me at all. Neighbors just yell “for God’s sake- put some clothes on son !!!”

    will it have sex with any other male owl? do they have standards? and would they have sex with a sibling or does it not matter?

    • @melissaalvesphotography
      @melissaalvesphotography  9 місяців тому

      They do mate for life, so she is calling for her specific mate. But if something were to happen to either owl, the remaining one wouldn’t wait long before moving on. There is a bit of courting that happens but I haven’t seen it between two unpaired owls so I can’t tell you more unfortunately, and I’m not sure how well they are able to recognize their own siblings

      Why on earth is it relevant how many acres you have, other than to try to impress people?

    • @celmonico
      @celmonico 11 місяців тому +2

      I have 50 and only mention when I am asked. But in particular I always thank my Lord Jesus for such a blessing. 20 acreas can be a beutiful chunck of land and not everybody work for it. Some people get from relatives. I worked for what I have and thank God for being able to.

      If a person has a need to feel blessed more than others will find out that there are millions in a better situation. That is why we should not depend on possessions to feel happy.

      @@bluebluesky3170tsk tsk. I don’t think that’s showing off. Maybe it’s just the way he said it that you took it that way 🤷‍♀️. It’s nice a person is blessed with having some acreage they can use to promote wildlife which they realized one might add to. As Martha Stewart used to say, “ it’s a good thing” !!
      Stay safe 🙏🕊️
