I quit my job in the corporate world in 2004, moved out of my apartment, gave away my possessions, and moved into my truck. Today in Dec 2024, I still live in that same truck and couldn't be happier.
@@ladyllf48 It's easy. I save a ton of money by not paying rent. So I always have money to do what I want. I bought a Coleman stove to cook meals with, and I use it for heating in the winter. I pay 25 dollars a month for membership at Planet Fitness which is where I take showers at night. During the winter, I camp out in Arizona where it's warm. During the summer, I camp out in Montana, Wyoming and Idaho where temps are cooler. During the 20 years I've lived in my truck, I've written seven books about my life on the road, and I've done booksignings in several states.
Hi Reggi! I’m in awe of you. I have been wanting to quit corporate America and do my own thing for 3 years now but was scared. My fear has always been how would I provide for my daughters. I have a plan now and will implement it over the next 4 years. The goal is to “retire” from corporate life at 55. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m so proud of you for creating a plan to make your dreams a reality. It’s never easy to step away, but having a strategy in place makes all the difference. Wishing you strength and success as you work toward retiring on your terms! 🩷
Hi Reggi! Great to hear your story and I'm glad you talk about preparing because that's extremely important. Years ago my husband told me if you're planning to leave a company and you don't want them to know right away, take personal things home a little at a time. Do it in a way that people don't notice anything different about your desk or office. Also never talk to 'anyone' about your plans to leave before you go (the wrong person may hear and your leave date may be sooner than you want). He said he had to do this when he accepted a position at another company. The same concept applies even if you're not planning to go work for someone else. The preparation I put in place helped things to transition smoothly and I never missed or regretting leaving.
Hi Reggi, I found your channel a couple weeks ago. I’m now a subscriber! Love your content. This is so timely. There are so many of us that have worked in corporate, over extended ourselves because of the “taxes” we had to pay. In turn we got burned out/sick due to unreasonable work expectations, raising a family and becoming a caregiver to aging parents. I’m there. At 62 I was part of a reduction in work force. I saw it coming and made a plan. Yes the reduction in income is scary, but I know I’m a planner, resilient, and know how to live a decent meaningful life. For the 1st time, Im prioritizing myself while taking care of 2 sick parents. Thank you for creating a platform where we can learn together. 🙏🏾❤️
Hi Cynthia, welcome to the channel, and thank you for subscribing! Your story resonates so deeply as we have walked similar paths of burnout and caregiving. I have a theory about modern day burnout, maybe for another video. Although I admire your strength and resilience in making a plan and prioritizing yourself amidst it all. Together, we’ll keep learning and finding ways to create meaningful lives. Sending love and support your way! 🩷💪🏽
Hi I’m a caregiver for my dad and I get paid through in-home (IHSS) supportive services out here in California. I’m sure there are programs similar to this in your state. I also work full time and still qualify to take care of him. All my best to you and all you do for your parents. Gracie
Hi Gracie, thank you for sharing your experience and for all the work you do to care for your dad. Unfortunately, my state doesn’t have the same services, but I continue to meet with a social worker to stay updated on any new resources or changes. Wishing you all the best as you balance caregiving and full-time work! 🩷
Actually, I may adjust it but right now this is a Guide titled: THE FASTING LIFESTYLE WEIGHT LOSS GUIDE - THE MOTIVATED MATURE WOMAN. One of my first and I am a newbie at this. 🥹🙏🏽
I've written and published seven books over the last five years. My most recent book "Horizons At Twilight - A Journey of Dreams Fulfilled," is about how I walked away from my job in the corporate world, and, later, lived out my dreams.@@reggisweat

I haven't retired yet, but I am making a list of future hustles to add to the bottom line. Great video!

Your story is incredible! It’s inspiring to hear how you’ve embraced minimalism and found happiness in your journey. Thank you for sharing! 💙
How on earth have you lived in your truck for 20 years. 👏🏾

Hi Reggie,
It would be nice to know how you take care mentally... like what do you do to reenergize after a taxing time?
I am educating myself on investing. I live below my means which really helps.
Go live Reggi!
