Hi, Many thanks. Spent ages trying to figure out what was wrong with my HP ENVY scanner, about to give up and buy a new one and found this video. All working now so saved me some cash. Nick
Adam, thank you so much for this video that I found accidentally! I have a slightly diff (4520) printer model number, but the Support Menu was right where you showed! My printer would Print fine, but making a Copy took forever! It was suggested in a forum to another user to do a Semi-Full Reset, but didn't give instructions how! I could only find it after seeing your video. Doing the Semi-Full Reset and following thru was the only way I could fix the problem! So grateful!!!
Very awesome to hear! I'm glad to know this video has helped people! It's always annoying when things don't function or work as well or as consistently as they should.
Thanks so much for this video. It may have been an accident but this accident has helped save my family a lot of money that we didn't have to waste...I'm thrilled to see this video. :D
Very glad to hear! Can't say it's helped us personally concerning the ink monopoly/planned obsolesce issues, but it's encouraging to know others have benefitted. Strange that such a speed issue would come up to start with though. Glad it's fixed!
omg! I was going to do a semi-full reset but found that I had the paper type as Matte specialty paper. When I changed it to plain paper, viola!, it is copying and scanning perfectly now!
This was extremely helpful. I have been looking at the HP website support and not able to find an answer. My printer was not scanning or copying. But yet it would print both wireless and printer cable. I did a reset with the method use described. My scanner and copying is now working. Thank you so much! I was going to get a new printer... But I am good to go now. Thanks for sharing!!
I honestly don't know. I've about given up on printers. I can say, if you find a good one that takes 3rd party cartridges like it should, make sure it never has Internet access.
Hello Adam, i use the same printer of this video. I have now another problem. If I press the Start button its starts well and after few seconds on the screen is standig a bluescreen B8156CE4...please help
+Martin Apostoloski Sorry, I honestly don't have a clue. I don't use it very much. I use my Brother black and white laser printer. Generally I'm also not a fan of printers. ^^'
I did partial reset and full reset. Nothing seemed to be working (scan and copy not working. Forever showing copying or scanning ) looks like hp envy 5530 end of life for me.
Hi Adam. Do you have any idea if the 5530 printer will accept “card stock” weight paper? I can’t get the heavy paper to cycle through mine. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.....Deb
You get another menu if you do this going upwards instead of down. Did a factory reset but it still thinks the new HP 301 black cartridge is not compatible. This printer is a pile of crap. Stick with Epson or Canon.
No doubt it's junk. Wish we still had our old Epson and knew about the page count reset software that was made available! It was blatantly obvious that Epson had programmed their printers to fail. HP isn't any better with their ink "management." Can't say we've ever tried Canon. I personally use a B/W Brother laser that I enjoy. It was easy to circumvent the optical "low toner" sensor with a piece of electrical tape. 100's of more pages!
Canon or Brother . Canon for photos and a little better quality printing and Brother for cheapest ink. All the manufacturers have gotten on the proprietary ink band wagon to make refilling harder, but HP is the worst with Epson in a close second. Epson has been sued as well but HP had put kill switches in the printers that have used recycled or somehow non HP cartridges. They do it with the drivers, so stick with old drivers. . . if you can. Newer HP cartridges also use128K bit encryption to prevent "counterfit" chipping. I suspect that how easy Hp comes up with "incompatible cartridge" messages is in violation of the judgement in the lawsuit. The only way to use these integrated print head cartridges, anyway, is with a ciss. The carriage clamps in the Envy 5530's 61 carts make it difficult to ciss on carts that were far too small before they invented making smaller compartments within the cartridges and labeling the normal ones "XL". Its total insanity! I got my last HP Envy5530 printer free off craigslist. The woman was so guilty giving it to me she kept pointing out that the black cartridge was pretty full (if dryish). Its just a money sucking machine to make Hp richer, not a printer. HP may be saving trees but they are still polluting the world with garbage printers. Instead of trying to make better printers, HP is using its expertise technology to screw the consumer. I'd be better off buying a new Canon or Brother that buying new carts for a freebie HP envy 5530.

Thank you for making this tutorial and showing us how to access that hidden tool list. It’s really really helpful. Once again thank you
Thank you soooo sooo much! I searched for this information and saw you video! Keep up the great work!
This worked for me! Thank you!! Now I don’t have to buy a new printer as I was ready to do!
How to bring up the Envy 5530 when I go to print an article
Why when I go to print something it says I have no printer 3:36
Thank you, Adam. I just used your method to fix VERY slow copying on an HP 4520. HP itself was no help. Worked great.

how do I print just one pagwes and it has 4 pages?
If you do a full reset, does the printer ask for the original setup cartridges to be installed?
I honestly don't know. I've about given up on printers. I can say, if you find a good one that takes 3rd party cartridges like it should, make sure it never has Internet access.

Awesome sure a lot of electronics have these secret screens.
Since their main function is debugging, no doubt! Just like the system screen on a smart phone or tablet.
