I was thinking with the proper paint job in kitchen could do more of a Willie Wonka hallway. Optical illusions for wall height. I kind of wish they would keep the room separate from dining. I think the kitchen was separated to keep the rest of the house getting hot in summer for cooking. I hope they have a storm shelter on the property. Do they get tornadoes?
I'm going to love watching your process of creating this dream home and farm. You, Mark and Grandpa have the best attitude about the adventure. Hugs to Bruce, Scarlett, Ollie and Elsa.
What a great project! Makes me think of a house I rented for a while 50 years ago, in rural Northern California. It had been built in the late 1800s, of redwood planking, with shingles on the outside. No insulation. They wanted wallpaper, so cheesecloth was hung & the wallpaper attached to that. When the wind blew, it got in through the small gaps around the windows, behind the wallpaper, & made the wallpaper billow ever so slightly. 😂😂😂. It wasn’t QUITE as startling after the first time. I suspect that if you’d put down a handful of marbles in the kitchen, they’d all have rolled different ways! Every morning, the landlady’s heifers greeted us, peering into the bathroom window, then went around to the other side of the house to watch is in the kitchen.
I’m glad you guys are taking safety precautions. I love old houses and have lived in two. Lead paint, asbestos, and mold are the three things I watch for.
Thank you for the video! It will be a great house when done.I have drywall in my kitchen now but it is being replaced with b boards and painted the green on your walls!..Lol!..I found out tongue and groove is cheaper and better than drywall in these old houses..I have drywall that is 15 years old a cracking with the settling of the house.Drywall out wood in!❤❤
My previous home was a Lewis Carroll home, but I bought it anyways. It felt like I was on a houseboat, but I got used to it. After I retired, moved out of the city into another funky little farm cottage on a lake. You do fall in love with the history. But if I had the money or wanted to go in debt, I’d hire to tear down & rebuild. 😅
I have a question and it may be something you have or haven't thought of when you go to the level that house how many of the windows in that house on the outside are you going to crack when it jacks up and becomes straight
I would listen to whatever Grandad says! He knows what he's talking about!
Your dad is hilarious! “Keep the Lewis Carroll.” 🤣

The shed might be good for animals…chickens, maybe?
