Have you experimented with counter sinking the channel in the cabinet side at all? I'm going to attempt it for our master closet build....*fingers crossed haha
Installing lights so you don’t see the actual light is a challenge in some places. Closet shelves I still desire a solution to have the light project from the front of boxes cabinets. Illuminating hanging clothes no problem. I have not cut grooves into existing kitchen cabinets. The laminate coating plays a big roll in the mdf wood not observing moisture. You may want to seal it with paint if you do it. Also be careful you don’t have a 1/2” thickness. The do make track you can recess. Look at my Alexa kitchen video. The Alumininum I use is really nice at hiding the lights from view. That would be an option over cutting. I have active project in the garage. I routed a flat channel in the plywood for lights under a counter edge. I am planning a v shape channel in a shelf where I will mount the light facing inward. Also in plywood not mdf. Super hot here so I have not been doing any video for that project. I may include some photos in a video I have planned. Good luck.
I will update the comments later tonight with a list of materials shown. I cover most materials in other videos i have on my channel. I have a video for the pantry lights with materials. The switches are covered in my led switch video and I have another video I posted for motion sensors. The wire management video covers how i hid the wires.
